Then again, that's what we've always done; we Americans always blame our leaders for being such bellicose hawks while we readily embrace the narrative that portrays peace, diplomacy, and cooperation as weakness and might as greatness. Whomever we get as the next president will probably kill a lot of innocent people unnecessarily, just like all the previous, and we'll all pretend it wasn't our fault in spite of it all.

I guess I am the only somewhat Conservative person commenting here. This is a brilliant piece. It is hilarious. I knew Stephen was going to go downhill after he left the Colbert Report. All he does now is insult Trump. Stephen, when you did that welcome home to the troops I actually cried at how funny and sincere it was. (I had just got back from a year in Iraq) and I was so happy that someone had my back in that shitty war that WE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN. I became a grandfather because my son did not have to do a 2nd deployment to Syria.
