Blame the pilgrims. A lot of the founders wanted nothing to do with superstition, but they had to appease the pilgrims, who left England to seek out the freedom to burn their neighbors alive for miscounting the number of angels dancing on the head of a pin. At the time, England was cracking down on that sort of horseshit, and encouraging the nutbags to gtfo. That was only a minority of the population, but we had a whole raft of other handicaps. Education was poor in the colonies compared to England. Sure, we had the original Ivy League Colleges, but most people could barely read, so they fell prey to the Trumps of the day. Men like Samuel Adams, who took England's fairly reasonable decree that if the colonists would not stop provoking the French colonies, having their ass handed to them, and then requiring England to repeatedly ride to their rescue, that the colonists would then be required to bear the expense of that defense through some minor taxes, and through propaganda turned it into "no taxation without representation!" Well, no shit. The colonists had proven themselves to be utterly irresponsible and would never agree to pay for anything if they could get someone else to carry the load. If the pilgrims had just been taken out back and shot, and colonization delayed until they were fully purged, the babbling snake brigade would never have had a toehold.

I agree with you completely they wasted their time on this Daniels business because his base wouldn't have cared one lick. However according to Federal Regulations it is a crime and irrespective of the Russian involvement which would be a federal issue the crime that is perpetrated out of New York through Cohen is chargeable and indefensible from pardoning. I personally believe Russia's involvement was not significant. I do strongly believe that the WikiLeaks were very pertinent but not necessarily part of Russians hack. Julian Assange and Associates are all willing to testify to the special counsel about the actual source of the podesta email. Assange claims it is absolutely not Russian and Kim.com claims to have been the digital liaison for moving the data.

People in those scenarios tend not to have a realistic understanding of logic and proof though. Empirical evidence is real evidence to them. "I sat around wishing really really hard, and then my wish came true, so it was because of my wishing~". I can't even tell you how many times I've had to sit through this logic-free argument while studying religious history and sifting reality out of imagination to gain understanding... it is exhausting.

Germ Antibody A problem with prayer in the active sense seems to be its core function - wishing for causal reality to reflect one's desires, regardless any collateral impact elsewhere in the Cosmos. It feels like people genuinely understand it's overtly a potentially comforting notion, realizing they may as well be flipping a many sided set of dice or singjng and dancing to relief stress, but perhaps people genuinely think that their prayer has a tangible effect on reality? But then, how might they justify appealing to any sort of projected moral or ethical fiber onto something which could render all variety of suffering or displeasure a moot fiction? Overall, it seems that prayer is not sufficiently thought through, alas.
