Why can't we have a show like the UK's Graham Norton Show? Every interview on Colbert feels like a "speed round" of questions. And it's the same for the other late night talk shows, must cram in as many ads as the audience will tolerate.

@@hd-xc2lz Agree 100%. The time that most guests have is terribly rushed as they attempt (the networks, and those up high at said networks) to compress everything - thus it’s a format that is never cohesive, too much material etc. kills content every time :/

Her character really grew on me over the years. She may not have changed but the understanding of the dynamic Susie brings did. From the voice of 'no fun allowed' to 'you boys are all idiots and here's why'. They really made her character a part of the group rather than a stick in the mud. And factor in the bullshit the boys pull you really start to empathize and see how she moves the narrative along with her criticisms rather than blocks it.

It's only happened a couple times in my life that I actually had a guest I had invited to my birthday party ask if I expected my guests to bring gifts. Each time, I was pretty young, like 13 or 14 years old, so I didn't have really good judgement. I told him that I didn't really care. I was just planning to have a cake, a few guests and a good time, and that was all the thought I put _into_ the matter, so he didn't bring one. None of my other guests had asked, though. They had all brought gifts and he looked like an ass. The following year, I had not learned my lesson. Yet again, when I invited him to my party, he asked if I was expecting gifts, and again, I wasn't. But again, he was the only one who asked. He, however, _had_ learned his lesson. He brought a gift. So here are the lessons: First, if if's _your_ birthday party and _one_ of your guests asks if you're expecting gifts, don't just consider whether _you_ are expecting them; consider whether anyone else has asked. Second, if you're invited to a birthday party, bring some kind of gift. It doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be expensive. Indeed, it could be a gift someone else previously gave _you_ that you just haven't had a _use_ for. But bring _something._

It just feels so crazy to me. I have autism & am brutally honest. When I say no gifts? I mean it. But I do bring people stuff. I definitely don't understand why people don't say precisely what they mean. I freaking L♡VE Susie Essman.
