Wanna be sadder? The guy who discovered tectonic plates froze to death on an expedition, desperately trying to prove himself after being ridiculed by the scientific community for his so-called discovery being "ridiculous". It wasn't until about 20 years after his death when everyone went "Oh, he was right. Whoops."

Transfats are completely synthetic. A small amount is found in food like meat and butter but it's also industrially made producing unnatural amounts. They're also incredibly dangerous being and have been linked to cancer, increase bad cholesterol and lower good cholesterol, increase risk of heart disease and stroke, and of course, type 2 diabetes. They're many laws against them but if you ever spot them, don't eat transfats. There's little health benefits to them and because they help save companies money, they were marketed as healthy at one point. There should honestly be an episode on them

Problem is its harder to find while sugar or artificial sweetner foods are every where. I use to buy high fat ground beef it was "cheaper" pissed my friends off that I would buy that thinking it was trash but guess what when bbq season starts they all lined up and go "man why can't I make burgers this good, mine have like double the seasonings still not this good or filling" secret was the high fat ground beef instead of the extra lean stuff they bought. Its also more filling with fat in it even though at least with ground beef it produces more greese and shrinks more on the grill or pan it actually is more filling. Its also why I am not big into mcdonalds and what not they lower the beef quality but not in the ways you think they cut out less fat to make it look healthier, but result is it needs far more seasoning to taste good, and you end up able to eat more of them. Which I guess is win win for them...

Weight fell off of me because my diet truly wasn't awful save for the fact I was eating three desserts a day. Sugar isn’t what makes you fat btw, that’s a lie too. It all comes down to energy balance, calories in calories out. The correlation between cutting out sugar and weight loss is due to the fact that you have just put a restriction on a lot of the foods you use to eat and by doing so you have cut down a huge portion of your daily energy intake thus relating in weight loss. Nothing to do with the sugar.
@blueturtle3623

@@Quantumz9 I mean, yeah pretty much. I can't control myself around sugar, I cut it out, I lost weight. It isn't rocket science or new information that I lost weight because I was eating fewer calories. In my case, the fact that it was sugar did have a psychological impact, and I'd appreciate it if you don't reply with fucking basic information assuming i'm a moron who doesn't know.
@jadecoolness101
@jadecoolness101 Жыл бұрын
@@Quantumz9 It has a little to do with the sugar. Some foods have more sugar than others, of course. Diet isn't as simple as "calories in vs calories out" because you DO need to be getting vitamins and minerals, and fiber. If you eat less, you may be taking in less calories, but if you're not taking in enough nutrients you're going to have a problem. You need to eat good, high nutrient, low sugar/calorie/energy foods. But completely cutting sugar from your diet isn't good either. There are plenty of healthy foods that contain sugar, such as apples and MOST other fruits. Sugar isn't evil. Excess sugar is evil.

capitalism bro, I'm not sure communism is much better (i'd still want to live here anyways) but yeah in capitalism profit drives incentive, sometimes so much so as to disregard its impact to people or the environment for more dolla dolla bills. Think of like oil tycoons lobbying against renewable energy and doctors pushing chemo therapy over some newer less harmful alternatives because its way more profitable to do so, or hunting endangered species or brainwashing people soda isn't so bad cause of the fat sugar thing and getting a lot of America to drink it regularly and using toxic biocides over better natural solutions to get rid of bugs which don't do anything because bugs develop immunities really quickly and the poisons hurt us too but them companies who sell it lobby it and make money off it (read silent spring). on and on, greed. basically, yeah, every Adam ruins everything episode.

I don't think everyone is quite understand the message of this video. He never said "sugar is bad." There are tons of minerals, proteins, vitamins, blah blah in various amount of food and most of them play a relatively important role in human diet. The message of this video was "TOO much sugar is bad and it's the sugar industry's fault." In reality, fat doesn't equal a fat person. Fat is what our body burns for energy. Carbs, too, but fat does the job better. When we eat too much fat, yeah it's bad. Too much of anything is bad. Y'all can have your cake and eat it too, just don't eat the whole damn cake. That's all this video is!

3:18 False. Sugar is not addictive. Energy balance is the most important factor to consider when gaining, losing, or maintaining body weight, i.e. calories in versus calories out. You don't have to track calories to lose weight, just like you don't have to track how much money you make versus how much money you spend to save money. However, you will lose weight if your body burns more calories than you consume.
@suruxstrawde8322
@suruxstrawde8322 Жыл бұрын
Aaaactually it has in fact been shown to be more addictive than cocaine- it just varies from person to person by metabolism and is what’s known as “sub chronic” cause it takes decades to result in anything deadly in most cases.
@zerptwerp6445
@zerptwerp6445 Жыл бұрын
@@suruxstrawde8322 The study most commonly referred to that suggests that cocaine is more addictive than sugar was done with mice. During the study, the mice would sometimes (but not always) prefer to consume a sucrose solution instead of cocaine. The study "Aaaactually" suggests that mice will often prefer to consume something with sustenance (caloric density) instead of cocaine. Sugar has been extensively studied in humans, and it does not fit the definition of a drug. When sugar is combined with fat and/or salt (cake, cookies, etc.), it may fit the definition of something "addictive" (but still not a drug). Don't fall victim to propaganda and misinformation from diet zealots. They're almost always selling something. The science doesn't lie, but it does need to be interpreted correctly. Good luck on your journey!
@suruxstrawde8322
@suruxstrawde8322 Жыл бұрын
@@zerptwerp6445 Aight, sound reasoning not even including that mice are facultative herbivores, opposite to humans. But calories are measured by flammability, the body has no way to even tell if something is high or low in them cause it’s a biochemical system not a volume measurement scale. That’s why there are empty calories, why people can stay underweighted eating fatty meats constantly and doing almost nothing, and why you can’t gain weight from fat- amongst other much more detailed biochemistry reasons regarding insulin spikes and protein uptake pathways.
@zerptwerp6445
@zerptwerp6445 Жыл бұрын
@suruxstrawde8322 @suruxstrawde8322 So much of what you just said is falsifiable and is further evidence of how entrenched you are in diet pseudoscience. You're beyond reasoning with, and my comment is directed toward anyone reading. They deserve to have your misinformation unraveled. The study that used mice to consume sucrose solution and cocaine is the research that is propagandized to falsely correlate the consumption of sugar with addiction. Furthermore, those who have falsely interpreted that study also falsely refer to sugar as a drug. It is not. There is plenty of scientific literature to support the statement that sugar is not a drug, and there are not any studies that are peer reviewed to refute that statement. The scientific method has already dismissed any discrepancy. Sugar is not a drug. Refer to my previous comment for context. A calorie is a unit of measurement. Referring to an empty calorie is equivalent to referring to an empty kilogram. A kilogram is always 1000 grams, which is a measurement of weight. A Calorie (kilocalorie) is 1000 calories (gramcalorie), which is a measurement of heat (energy). A capital "C" Calorie is a kcal and a lower case "c" calorie is a gcal. In common usage and on food labels, Calorie is used. It's important to note that food labels are actually using kcals when they say Calories. All energy balance in humans (and all organic life) is determined by energy in vs energy out, aka calories in vs calories burned. Many people don't believe this is real because they track caloric intake (often inaccurately) and then assume a figure for calories burned. However, accurately measuring caloric intake is possible, although very difficult, and measuring how many calories you burn is nearly impossible. The only way to accurately measure calories out is to spend a lot of time in a hyperbolic chamber. Obviously, that is not a reasonable solution. The next best thing is to consistently weigh yourself every day, preferably in the morning (after defecation/urination and before eating/drinking). This is when your weight will be most regularly associated with lean body mass. Insulin and protein pathways play a role, but energy balance is the driving factor for weight gain/loss. It doesn't matter if you get your calories from fat, sugar, protein, or carbs. You can absolutely gain weight on a high fat diet, and you can absolutely lose weight on a high carb diet. Energy balance is the determining factor. For example; two people (Fred and Nancy) are both trying to lose weight. Both of them exercise, both of them get 8 hours of sleep every night, and both of them (on average) burn 2,800 Calories per day. Fred eats a high protein, high fat, low carb, low sugar diet and consumes 3,100 Calories per day. Nancy has a flexible diet that includes a variable of proteins, fats, carbs, and sugars, and she consumes 2,500 Calories per day. If the information reported is accurate, I can say with 100% confidence that Fred will gain weight and Nancy will lose weight. It doesn't matter what the macro intake allocation is for weight loss. The determining factor for weight loss is energy balance. @Suruxstrawde8322 I encourage you to stop getting your information from fitness personalities. The scientific literature is widely and publicly available. And if you're not going to put in the effort to learn the real science, at least stop spreading your lies to other people. I won't be responding to you anymore. This is all you get.

I've noticed that nutrition labels always point out and highlight carbs, fats, calories, and sodium, but you have to look into the fine print on the back of the box for sugar unless it's specifically a low-sugar product. The daily allowance of added sugar is only about 25 grams, but a single serving of juice, soda, or a protein bar usually tops that off. I don't know why people aren't more concerned about it.

The correlation between cutting out sugar and weight loss is due to the fact that you have just put a restriction on a lot of the foods you use to eat and by doing so you have cut down a huge portion of your daily energy intake thus relating in weight loss. I had learned this in 5th grade, what they mean by low fat is: more sugar. And a big thing most of us should know is that most big food companies try hiding the word “sugar” and “fat” with scientific names, and they forget to mention sugar turns to fat because if you consume too much (mostly added sugar) then you’re body can’t process it at all and it turns to fat.

You can get fat on good fat too. In the end, the studies clearly mark that people who are and remain below unhealthy BMIs eat very low fat and high (complex) carbs. Both the refined sugars and the fat increase weight gain in general. Not saying sugar is good, but its a lot easier to have a healthy weight with low fat. Fat is also important, but everything in proportion: gotta keep that fat low.

That's hard seeing as everything prepackaged is laced with tons of processed sugars! They pay billions to market to people healthy alternative because "fat is the problem" not sugar. It's called manipulation through images and sounds!

Alejandro Gangotena That could be due to the simple fact that fat is very calorie dense, not a property of the absence of fat itself. As a result, it would make sense that they stay lighter, because they are simply eating less calories. I think the real problem with the low fat obsession is that it tricks people. They think they are getting a low calorie product, so they think they can eat more than they could of the regular version. Problem is, the sugar used to flavor it brings those calories right back up, so you end up eating more calories than you otherwise would have.

Ryan Curnow That's because they aren't meant to be toys. They were invented for stimming or self-stimulation which is something that people with ADHD and autism typically do (but people who don't have either can still stim). The popularisation of fidget spinners lowered the prices and made it easier for the people they were invented for to get access to them

Even worse is that artificial sweetners are also bad for you and even sweeter than sugar. Diet products are laced with artificial sweetners that the body is unable to process properly. The main issue is to eat in moderation regular foods to the limit your body can process. Finding the required amount to your activity levels is a challenge and avoiding the rubbish of refined sugars, carbohydrates and sweetners is important.
@Antonio-wb7ro

Yes but artificial sweeteners are still needed, diabetic people cannot regular sucrose as it affects there blood sugar too much. Of course i understand where you are coming from in that everything in ok in moderation but still some people cannot eat certain types of foods and have to substitute them.
