+Ashkaun If that's the take-away, then I strongly disagree. Believing in bad science has more detriments than a clinically non-specific placebo effect can help. Furthermore, if you are suffering from something that needs to be treated and you merely treat it with bogus remedies, then you risk serious illness or complications down the line. Real medicine also has a placebo effect. The definition of real medicine is treatment or procedure which works *better* than placebo. So, there is almost no reason to speak well of anything which only confers a placebo effect.

I so glad people are finally exposing old market scams. Just don't throw out the real reason people go on cleanses, to try and stop consuming alcohol, tobacco and sweets. When you're a college student (or working any hard job) there is rarely a good excuse not to go binge drinking or step outside and smoke (despite severe health risks in either case) because the person asking you is often even more addicted than you. This allows a socially acceptable way to turn down and actually allow people to go the two weeks required to drop most habits, though addictions can often be a lifelong struggle.
@nobodyimportant24707 жыл бұрын
People don't cleanse as an excuse to stop consuming alcohol, tobacco, and sweets. They do it to validate their over-consumption by saying it is fine because they will do a cleanse later to get rid of all the bad stuff.

@Striker7757 жыл бұрын
Adam isn't completely correct to claim some detox treatments do nothing, and he kind of shoots himself in the foot by denying benefits to massages, sauna and drinking water. If his claim is that normal metabolism will detox, anything that increases metabolic rate will technically be a detox treatment. Even drinking more water helps (although the impact is almost negligible). So, in essence detox treatments aren't scams, they just have really shitty results for their asking price.

BlueTJ detox are home remedies exploited for money. scientists do not agree with home remedies nore can they explain all the effects yet. truth: gas is dangerous false: detox can effectively cleanse you of bad gases or that you need a detox. false: sweat is 90% water. that circumstantial. as alcohol do come out of people pores. false: the body will detox on its own. the body is a machine and its prone to glitches and oversights. he advoided why detoxes are actually dangerous. they cleanse good bacteria and other stuff your body need. and leave you vulnerable to worst bacteria
@TurtleCake17 жыл бұрын
Striker775 he's not saying drinking water or getting a good massage isn't good for you, he's just saying it has nothing to do with "detox" or "toxins". Toxic matter is processed by your organs. Hydratation is obviously necessary to stay alive and massages are good to relieve stress and tension, but it's nothing about detox.
@lazyperfectionist39787 жыл бұрын
Striker, massages don't remove toxins, and that drinking too much water and using the sauna don't exactly get rid of toxins (the closest would be just water, alcohol in small amounts, etc). They have other benefits, but not necessarily toxin removal.

1:39 cupping is good but mainly for nerve pain and inflammation. It has nothing to do with getting rid of toxins from your body. Similar to acupuncture, cupping a good compliment to modern medicine & good for people who have really tight nerves, body pains, or are recovering from an injury. But its not an end all be all cure. An example: Im a migraine sufferer. Stuff like Excedrin can douse a migraine but migraines are tricky and some days nothing works. In that emergency if Im not having drastic ET symptoms & am just experiencing the splitting pain, I go to an accuouncturist. The needles relieve the pain pressure on the nerves & redirect the pain signals elsewhere. This knocks out a migraine completely. But notice its not a be all cure either. I’m not cured completely as my body will and does continue to experience migraines. Acupuncture just helps when they come on.
@LucidDreamer543212 жыл бұрын
Adam, you said “Anything can be toxic if you ingest too much of it.” Then you gave water as an example. The condition caused by excessive ingested water is commonly called water toxicity. However, that is a misnomer. The actual effect of excess water is that it causes dilution of the body’s electrolytes - especially sodium. The result of this dilution is disrupted cell function.

It's really difficult to understand why someone would shoot water into their butts without actual medical prescription. My mom doesn't walk anymore after the stroke and she had problem to poop last year, so the doctor came to our house and said the only way to take the feces out was through that procedure. And it looks really uncomfortable, so I can only imagine how my mom was feeling. Fortunately she poops normally now.

Well, I’m sure don’t just wake up and decide that. Sometimes life throws it at you. People have family/friends who go through a part of their life with cancer, or maybe brain problems, or amputees, kidney/liver/spleen failure, etc., and they want to help so no one else goes through it, so they go and study that particular field to, maybe in the future, help find a solution.

What's funny about this is that your body has a very powerful tool available to it in order to 'cleanse' 'toxins' from your body and blood. It's called your liver and your digestive system. If your liver stops working, or is not doing the job effectively enough, you'll be in hospital quicker than you can say "End me!" from the intense and ruining pain. If your digestive system stops doing it's job effectively, you'll have much more problems than just toxins, as you are likely to starve to death. Why did I mention your digestive system? Well, to answer that; where do you think 'waste' from these 'cleansing' processes go? There is a reason the human digestive system includes a waste disposal 'process'. It gets rid of more than just the remains of what you eat. Needless to say, you do not die instantly from 'toxin' buildup. You die, sometimes slowly, and always painfully, through a very noticable process that will absolutely put you into your doctor's care. If you are not already in your doctor's hands for terminal blood poisoning, you have nothing to worry about from 'toxins'. But when in doubt, see your doctor. Unless that is too expensive for you; then just hope that your natural systems are still functioning at 100%.

It’s kind of like an intellectual addiction; when someone makes a belief so integral to their identity that any opposition is an affront and evidence of malice…there’s not much that can be said; like an addict, the initial desire for a change has to come from within (only when they’re willing to openly engage in those beliefs Will there be a possibility for changing them). 🤷♂️

I'm learning about logical fallacies, and this statement is a good challenge to analyze! The logical fallacies here are: 1) The Burden of Proof fallacy. Your ex argues that detox is good, but provides no evidence for that. Instead your ex simply dispels evidence from the other side. But it's the debater's job to defend, not attack! 2) Genetic fallacy. Your ex dismisses evidence purely because of its source (doctors). 3) Hasty generalization fallacy / tu quoque/ black and white: assuming ALL doctors are greedy and would break the Hippocratic Oath for money.
