Dude, I’m currently studying to become an xray tech and I had to travel a long way to a hospital where 3 days a week I had to make a 9hr shift (basically working without pay). I was so broke I stopped on a gas station to buy some chips and a coke which was like $2 and a half and the debit card declined on me. This arab guy (i think the owner) says (in spanish) “sorry my friend but it says decline”. I was so embarrassed and hungry and they were like 3 people before me. 😂 I was like “damn okay” faking like it was the card and not me being broke hahah

Banks are highly guarded, the police respond quickly, most banks don't keep MASSIVE amounts of money anyway, and banks are just generally bullshit to hit because they have a lot of security in place to stop exactly that. Rob a service station. Lots of cash. Only sometimes a panic button. No security guards.

Fun fact: Walmart employees aren’t supposed to stop you from shoplifting if it’s under $20, make sure you don’t do it too often at the same store because the store may build a case against you. As long as your total for all the times is under $1000 you should be fine so make sure you switch up locations cause they rarely share information between different locations Edit: not quite sure why this is getting replies now after nearly a year, but I guess I could elaborate on my sources cause why not I got all this information from a Reddit thread where a supposed former manager at a Walmart talked about how to shoplift. I gave the tldr on it and that was that. I’m not a primary resource, I have never worked for nor stolen from Walmart. I would trust the replies before me honestly. Not gonna lie though, if you steel from Walmart and get away with it, that’s kinda cool

Not sure how other retailers do it,, but I was actually in Walmart Asset Protection and that's not quite accurate! It's not that they're not supposed to stop you, but that it's not always worth the paperwork to write up a police report. Every store sets up their own threshold on the minimum dollar amount they report to the police, so you might not get hit with a shoplifting charge, but every time you're stopped is an incident that is recorded in Walmart's database. If they take your name, you're in the internal system unless that particular store's AP is really slacking

The health insurance part went away when I went back to France. Just got an ultrasound (had unexplainable pains) for less than 20 dollars. Had blood tests for various things, each less than 8 bucks. And that’s BEFORE insurance or what the government would reimburse you for by default.

Like, we have that kind of stuff covered 100%, but if it's not obviously urgent or something in your chest/cranium, you normally wait like a month for an appointment.
