My foot got amputated about 6 months ago and I recently got back to horseback riding and dance. So many kids are like amazed at my foot being gone. People my age and older think it’s amazing how I keep on doing what I love.

I’m in a Facebook group for tib and fib breaks and about 40% of the women in the group got their broken legs from horse back riding I’ve been riding but after what happened to me I doubt I will ever try to get on a horse again so they face face and neck rubbies and treats I love horses they’re easily my favourite animal but I’m far too nervous already having metal permanently drilled into my ankle I’m glad you are still able to do the things you love ❤️‍🩹 I’m a year and 6 months since surgery and there’s still days when my hardware hurts but I also have fibromyalgia so everything hurts anyways . I have a titanium plate and 8 screws holding my fibula together and then2 long screws holding the tibia together I would have felt safer if they had put a plate on the weight bearing side .

I'm going through exactly this atm. I had a horse riding accident 4 years ago landed numb toes first and huge nerve damage and couldnt feel my foot at all. Forced to put pressure while they seen my ankle prove it could support me, they discharged me at 5 weeks saying I can ride again and walk fine.... with me saying how as I cant walk without falling as my foot was numb and had black toes.. still ignored throughout physio as the metatarsal heads pop through randomly, swelling due to exercises.. I've lost 33 years of padding on my foot.. my toes are not how they used to be or sit and now I'm in pain all the time, not just 1 pain, its burns, pulling swelling, popping, tightness, pressure, oh so much more, I've just started a diary. Then just as I get feeling back to a point I went for a trek last year slipped and broke both my main leg bones and ripped tendons off on my other leg..... so now different things pop up as I now have no good leg to compare what's feeling normal. Back to my first ankle and toe damage from 4 years ago, I now have numb toes to the point they knock on something and just fold or the bones lock up. Apparently normal. They feel extending my calf will help my ankle and foot pain, or fusing my foot. My surgeon and docs have ignored my pain even doing a unnecessary surgery to which they produced post surgical arthritis from it for me... yay... not. At the end of the day doc has said it's all in my head or we can amputate or fuse. Thank you for your story. I didnt know I was the only one facing this especially from horse riding. A weight has come off my shoulders. Good luck with all.

i had a horse riding accident... two actually.. one the horse Smokey Joe was scared of noises in bushes... he wheeled around and i fell off holding the reins with my head dragging on the ground and my foot in the stirrup... i was dragged about a mile then i decided to let go of the reins and he stamped on my chest.. had a horse hoof print scar for weeks after on my chest... dont suppose it did permanent damage but i do have asthma now... second accident different horse - Summer Shade... he didnt want to go thru mud and did the same thing.. i came off & landed on my thumb & bent it back.. I can no longer stretch out my left thumb as much as my right thumb like it cant go at right angles or more from the finger.. not major injuries just thought id say...

I love your positive attitude! I found humor got me through my darkest hours/time when I spent 10 days in one hospital 20 days over Christmas & New Years 2019 in another fighting off a really bad lung infection on top of pneumonia. I had up to 4 chest tubes, spent time on a vent after both lungs collapsed. On the days I remember waking up grateful & telling my illness to F-off among other drug induced moments. Instead of part of my leg, they ended up taking the lower lobe of my right lung because the abcess I had really did a lot of damage.1a good sense of humor & saying really abstract nonsense will get through the day.

John Dunham i work out a lot and did my dead lifts the wrong way, so then my disks in my spine slipped and started pinching my nerves. And the first time I went to the emergency room they said it was nothing (bc I went by myself) but the second time I went back for the pain bc I couldn’t do anything without crying from the pain, me and my aunt went to the emergency room, so she made then take more tests then they did. found out what was wrong and took me in for surgery the next day bc if I waited like 3 days longer I would have been paralyzed.

I highly recommend giving planned removal of body parts a farewell party. I gave my uterus a farewell party. There was nearly four weeks between decision and operation. I needed something to occupy my brain during that time. I invited a bunch of friends (including a trans-woman) and my younger sister (who had a hysterectomy almost a decade before). There was a trivia contest, lots of laughter and chocolate eggs.

I completely appreciate how important this was for you to do and I am so glad you got to feel those things on your foot one last time. I am paralyzed and have no feeling from my waist down and I would do anything to feel those things again, so i am glad you got to say goodbye properly because people don't realise how important those seemingly small sensations truly are. When I had breast cancer and they were preparing to do the mastectomy they asked if I had said good bye to the breast. I hadn't. I took the time for myself to say good bye to it (and then to the other one a couple of years later). It felt weird doing it, but it did help with my mental recovery. So yes, there is a lot to be said to saying good bye to a part of the body when you know that it is going away. You are very brave for sharing this. Keep up that positive attitude.

This is weird because this video was in my recommendations, I’m sitting in the break room of my job, with my left ankle wrapped up because of how painful it is to walk around right now (I was in a car accident about 3 years ago and broke my fibula and dislocated my ankle) and I just kept thinking “ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod shes getting her ankle amputated”. But seeing how brave you were and accepted it, honestly brought tears to my eyes. You’re amazing.

It had drawings on it. So it had to be amputated to remove the drawings. Because it was permanent marker, it couln't be removed otherwise.

It's SO wonderful how positive you are and how you used to deal with losing your foot, you keep talking about things that were so sad for you 'I wasn't allowed any coffee which was a bummer' and that it's bothering you that you could only use nail polish now for 5 toe nails.. While you were at that moment about to lose your foot. It seems like that you keep reminding yourself that everything will keep better no matter what you're going through, gosh this is the first video ever I've watched of you and I'm glad that I did. *On October 21 I had to get my last two toes amputated due to a sarcoma cancer it was VERY rare for a kid my age to have I always said I hated my feet so much. Be grateful and be careful what you say.*
