Ol man had a CB in his pickup and he would let me talk to the truckers. He always told me “stay outta them trucks! You stay in school!” I tried that but I was quickly bored. I “cheated” my way into a CDL and a truck driving job. It was cool as hell for a few years and it was great $$ at the time but then I was stuck in it. Couple years ago I retired after 30+ yrs and I’m done! I don’t care if I never climb up in a truck again. Btw- seeing this clip also brought back memories from the early 70s. I love this song and the film Convoy. For those of us who lived in Ohio during this time, Super Host did a funny skit to this song too.

Shaky Town In the world of big rig truckers, Shaky Town is referring to Los Angeles, due to the earthquakes that make the buildings "shake". In the song "Convoy" by C.W. McCall (Bill Fries), he refers to the convoy being on I-10 a mile out of Shaky Town.

This is why I STILL have CB's in my trucks. Them new-fangled 'cellular phones' may not catch on, after all. I prefer the tried & TRUE technology! :-D

I started driving professionally back in 2003. I got to talk to some of the older drivers and hear them on the CB. It was more of a brotherhood back then. It’s no longer that way.
