Commodore Amiga and CD32 Pickups | July 2020

If anyone can direct me to some ram for my paravision sx-1 that would be great!

The cd32 with the Terrible Fire thing is cool. The best way to play Amiga games. Back in the days, my friend had the SX1, I think. He had his cd32 turned into a 1200. It had a floppy drive, keyboard and mouse connected to it and I believe it was the SX1. The setup was huge. And now the Terrible Fire does all that in a small package. :) Nice pickups. Yeah the cd32 with sx1 isn’t pretty but somehow I love it😂 The TF is a great bit of kit just a shame there’s no floppy option

You can use the dryer sheets to absorb the smell too, I used them on a smokers blu-ray. Wrap them round and leave them in a box. Loads of lovely additions there mate. You're certainly a passionate Amiga nut that's for sure. Great to watch. Love Barbarian, trying to chop their head off was the main goal of the game as an 8 year old hahaha.

Haha even as a 37 year old the main goal is chopping his head off Yeah I’ve used the dryer sheets method myself but think this works better, just seems to be much stronger scent in the powder box

Hey Steve mate! 👍 Just catching up with some of these videos 🤣 An Amiga pick up video is an unmissable watch! I did have the CD32 expansions in the past, the SX1&2 with the peripherals etc, but I much preferred to pimp out the A1200 with a CD drive, and install a CD32 emulator instead. Nice to have though! 👍 A lovely gesture from Will, a top fella! I love his A4000 😍 Barbarian II is a far easier title to find than it's predecessor. You've done well there. Last action hero used to sell for £100 all the time. It doesn't any more 🤣 Some excellent additions Steve! 😍

Yeah I agree, much easier to pimp an A1200 and that takes up less room too🙈 Yeah I’ve been keeping my eye out for an A4000 after seeing a lot of Will’s...done a deal for one on eBay for £600 via messaging, then 20 minutes later the bid jumped up to £820 with nearly a week left🙈needless to say the guy let it run and it ended at £1250😞

Super tennis reminds me of smash tennis on the snes. I loved manic miner on the amiga. the single screen game remakes on the amiga were some of my favourites for some reason. im not a fan of dungeon master at all, but i recently got it for the PC engine, so i might give it a revisit soon. I never watched the film at the time, but i loved the blues brothers game. that sound track was fantastic! Great pick ups! and love your new secret weapon against those dodgy odours 😂

Yeah I’ve never been a fan of dungeon crawlers but as part of Psygnosis it had to be done🙈 Hate spending money on games I have no interest in playing. Love the artwork on those 8 bit micro remakes but it definitely loses the magical game play and soundtracks. I’ll check smash tennis out👍

I had no idea that Psygnosis did licensed games, especially not big Hollywood movies. You learn something new every day. I assume they were later releases. When I think of Psygnosis I always think of the game boxes with the fantasy cover art. I know they weren’t all like that mind, but that’s what they’re known for in my eyes.

Putting games in Washing powder boxes. Who would have thought that? Good stuff. Yes some of them Gremlin early releases are hard to come by these days. I know I have a couple about. Perhaps the Amiga hit squad list could be easier than the 8bit versions.

Yeah those early gremlin games are pretty rare, some of them are terrible as well! It’s a shame the Amiga hit squads aren’t numbered like the 8 bits, and no idea if they’ll be easier to complete, there’s definitely more of them, around 150 I think I counted

I still have Super Tennis Champs, one of my original games from when I was a kid... it's one of the best tennis games made IMO, love it! I had no idea there was a playing guide for FOTAQ, one of my favourite Amiga games! I only had the demo myself (which was actually pretty long), but years later played through the full game. I think it's aged pretty well actually. Great pickups Steve :)

Lovely stuff Steve and nice that you bagged them games off the realm Football masters yes yes all day long thats the game me, my mate john and my brother would sit and play for fcuking hours! im 99% sure it was a mail order mate. Re the smells tumble dryer sheets do the same thing and are a little easier to stash into boxes etc ;)

That Capcom collection would be extra super cool if it hadn't the US GOLD logo on it. If the games were made by Capcom themselves, the games would be proper conversions.

Sorry for late comment , but I suddenly thought of something. Some games don’t age like others. For instance ; Dungeon master. I still play a lot of those gridbased , 1st person , realtime Dungeon crawlers. DM + Chaos strikes back , both Eye of the beholder , Black crypt , Ishar 1-3 , Captive , Bloodwych , Xenomorph and Crystal dragon. I’ve had a blast with both Legend of Grimrock for PC and hoped for a small revival , but to no avail. Shame really. Even though they evolved to free movement and went outdoors/sandbox , some of us liked the earlier concept and miss to have that choice. To mee , they’re still top contenders. Cool pickups my good man. Stay safe.

Thanks matey Yeah those old Dungeon Crawlers have definitely not aged great imo I never played those sort of games back in the day and I struggle going back to them now... I suppose if you played them it would be easier though, Take Elite for example, if I hadn’t have played that back in the day I wouldn’t be saying that it has aged well at all but the game actually still looks and plays great to me! My nostalgia specs are strong and biased though

Amazing to get he SX1, I can never work out whether it’s hardware or software that gets me more excited, but stuff like that really gets me going. I remember adverts for Football Masters in the magazines, mail order like you say. I think there was also others like a horse racing one called Stable Masters, a Grand Prix management one, and a wrestling one. Might send you a pic on IG. Some lovely pickups, that version of Dungeon Master (the box) is amazing. Great technique for musty smells 😂

Also Super Tennis Champs is a successful iOS app now. It’s a great Amiga game, came out too late to get the credit it deserved. One of the worst boxes going though, someone was having a laugh with that 😂

Cheers Will, I know there were later versions of football masters, as well as cricket masters and f1 masters which have boxes with yellow borders, but looks like the original football masters was their first release so no idea if it was boxed🤔 Honestly that washer powder trick is a godsend, especially for smoker’s games... Got to check that mobile tennis game out!

Nice grabs, Steve. Football Masters is a nostalgic favourite of mine as well. I know what you mean about it looking like one of those public domain ads in the back of a mag. Couldn't tell you if that specific version comes boxed but as you say, the original does....so perhaps they just used the same (yellow) box for all releases? Or maybe that V4 was a bit like the SWOS update where existing owners of the original could send a few quid and get the loose disks with the update on? Not sure but I wouldn't mind finding out so might have to dig deep on that one!

Hey Alex hope you’re well pal This one is the original release... The other releases with the yellow boxes came a few years later, but I’m thinking the company may have been so small that production levels may have been limited, seems it was quite popular though🤔I’ll carry on digging

@@Sinisteve Ah, yeah in that case you're probably right.....small company with limited marketing resources/funds to do the retail release. Looks like they also have a Professional Football Masters Version 4 with the disk showing 1993......so i'll presume there is also an unboxed version 2 and 3 out there somewhere, too. The boxed version which appeared in '94 drops the 'Professional' wording from the front cover and just reverts back to Football Masters. Weird......one for bloody Poirot this one mate haha

Some solid pick ups Steve, I know the fantstic dizzy has become sought after on the Amiga as it’s a cheap way of getting the poster to add to the megadrive release. Crystal kingdom dizzy isn’t that the rare one to get on the 8bits and commands a high price How awesome is that capcom compilation collection I loved blasteroids on the Amiga one of the first games I played on the system so rose tinted nostalgia glasses on hahahahaha

There’s loads of NOS fantastic dizzys for sale on eBay, usually around £20 each But no idea about crystal on the 8 bits would make sense though Blasteroids isn’t that bad tbf I just don’t like the arcade game

Mostly awesome pick ups mate... Apart from that eggy rubbish, only good for the bin 🤮. Love that capcom collection, very cool. I'm after heroquest and space crusade, both are hugely nostalgic games for me. Sure I will Hoover them up eventually 😁. I wanted to ask your advice about the Amiga, my a600 has 1 meg in the trapdoor and 2 meg in the side taking it up to 4 meg. If I replace the 1 meg in the trapdoor with 4 meg of fast ram would it run whdload better?

Hello yes as the pcmcia Sram is slower as it need a few cpu cycles to work and WHDload works far better with 4mb or even 8mb. We sell both if needed :-)

Dave Waddle I don’t think so...I think they’re comfortable enough but nearly £400 for a chair🙈definitely a lot better than cheaper ones I’ve seen and it seems to be pretty hard wearing but I wouldn’t recommend spending that much on something you can’t drive ha
