How i sorted this was doing snatch deadlifts slowly to just below the knee Few weeks later pb in snatch By slowing down off the floor got me into a much better position and stronger above the knee

I've been meaning to ask if there is a reason most pros sit for a second at the very bottom of the snatch instead of popping up after bottoming out? I tend to lose the overhead squat if I stop at the bottom vs popping up.
@BenColeCoaching4 жыл бұрын
If you are losing the overhead squat after pausing at the bottom you might want to check your mobility and bottom position of the snatch coz the pros aren't just sitting at the bottom for no reason, instead they are securing their position and ensuring that they can stand the bar up. Doing more overhead squats and snatch balances would help with this too. I'm not a coach or a pro but this it what I think. Hope it helps.

I would wager to say that brief pause is to gather the joints in the catch and to ensure the athlete is balanced in the foot before recovery.

Really like these breakdowns. And they help me criticise my own lifts. I wonder if it could be played once at full speed at the beginning and then with the full breakdown to see if we can spot the improvements needed?....not nerdy at all 😂

The most Common errors is not using proper belt and wraps. You can hurt your back and hands if you don't do this. I see Zack usually wears a belt and wraps so he knows this, so its for you other guys

One time I got a friend to spot me on a snatch and I got to bottom of the movement and happened to release wind on him. I lost my friend :(

You probably lost him because you asked for a spot on an Olympic lift

@@parkerrish9024 if you're doing a snatch and you're falling back then just fall back. Just dump the weight and get out of the way. Spotting a clean or a snatch is pretty pointless, and also more dangerous for the person attempting to spot you
@stoneHeHenge4 жыл бұрын
It won't be that easy for him to maintain his initial back angle. Just look at his legs. His femurs are as long as his torso. If he tries to maintain this back angle without altering his foot placement he'll crash the bar into his knees.

Its easy to critique others, i thought this guy did good. Also he did lift quite alot.
@flink854 жыл бұрын
Constructive criticism and supporting your lifters is what a good coach does. He did good, but he probably wants to do better, hence the coaching. "Quite a lot" is relative. That is not even warm up for some people but for others it is way past their 1RM. I snatch 100kg and I am nowhere near happy with those numbers, therefore I want to improve. How? If I don't know what to fix, I ask someone who does.
@danielsundstrom83124 жыл бұрын
@@flink85 100kg is fine for most, you don't have to feel weak. I think PTs are overrated, you can manage without one (much cheaper). Just film yourself and Watch KZbin videos.

@@danielsundstrom8312 same with doctors right? You seem to have a very sad picture of what a good trainer / coach is. I am not talking about the 2 weeks private course trainer. You are entitled to your opinion, I just feel that you are basing it on bad experiences. Well educated trainers with a lot of experience will always be better than youtube.
