I know bittersweet endings are interesting. And having them in both Amphibia and Gravity Falls were the right choice. But from someone who watched The Owl House from the beginning and was a fan the entire time, it needed to have a happy ending after what the characters had to go through in the series. They went through more trauma than the characters in the other series combined. Having the ability to go between dimensions was the right choice for the ending of The Owl House because Luz had (basically) nothing in the human whelm except her mother but the other characters had friends and family back in their normal lives.

Plus, it showed that Luz was gonna choose staying in one of the realms but then it turned out to be better to be able to switch on the contrary in amphibia anne and sprig had hoped to be able to visit each other. "As long as we have the music box we can visit each other whenever we want" then it turned out they had to be seperated

Im not sure they went through more trauma The Amphibia girls got stranded in a strange world and were all lost for months in a dangerous and scary world ( Anne and Sasha were alone for a while , Marcy just spawned in Newtopia ) Luz atleast got Eda from the gate to take care of here Anne and Sasha had to see one of their best friends get stabbed through the chest Marcy got Stabbed and got her mind manipulated by a mechanical hive mind who manipulated her fears ( psychological damage is way worse than physical ) The Plantars had seen their family get eaten by the storks Anne died ( luz did too ) The Plantars ,Sasha and Marcy saw Anne die Anne now knows at what age she dies at Stan Ford got caught in random dimensions by himself for years He got Manipulated by Bill and Even got bill playing inside his brain Every citizen in Gravity Falls saw their families turn into stone or themselves got turned into stone Did you see what Bill did to Pacifica’s dad ? Im pretty sure she’ll need some therapy Stanley had to struggle with the fact that he lost his brother because of his own fault He sent him in a Random venture to random dimensions without any knowledge if he was even Alive Dipper saw the face he would have in his own death ( face that was full filled in the Mansion episode ) Same episode were he Saw multiple animal head speak to him and even vomit blood Mabel got manipulated into a fantasy that would be perfect for her by manipulating her fear of staying alone Not sure where we draw the line in terms of trauma cuz all 3 series got a lot to talk to Eda was cursed for years and struggled with such curse Lilith wanted to free her sister from such curse and had to take part of it Luz was lost in a unknown world for months and saw her adoptive mother turn into stone And she even died ( kinda ? Did she ? ) Hunter is the character who went through the most trauma in the show Being manipulated for years fearing his life once he found out the truth of his own existence Amity was manipulated her whole life by her parents Gus and Willow don’t got that much trauma to go through tbh King had an existencial crisis because of him finding out he was a titan and saw the corpse of his father get manipulated by Belos Frankly by going on a count of each shows demonstration of trauma they are all on a similar level No one of these shows have anyone suffering the most Stanford is Equiparable to Hunter And amphibia is most likely the one with the least deep trauma in this regard ( except for Marcy Dying , getting manipulated and getting her own brain stolen from her )

Fun fact the animators from amphibia and Owl House were animators that worked on gravity falls. So they honestly did work hand and hand with each other on purpose all while keeping in touch with the director Alex the creator of gravity falls.

Just a few words about Amphibia. - Amphibia’s finale episode is technically shared between “The beginning of the End”, “All In”, and “The Hardest Thing”. - Despite not suffering from episode cuts, Amphibia did have to dial back on their crude violence/themes, after being subject to to a warning screen for True Colors, which delayed the episode’s release in the first place. This can be seen in how Marcy’s “death” is barely mentioned at all in season 3, as it likely would have resulted in more delays and possible warnings. - The moon being the core’s final gambit was teased a lot in Amphibia. The clearest example for this was in “The Core & The King”, where Leif *literally* sees it crash into the planet because of the music box’s prophecy.
@themadmagpie1742
@themadmagpie1742 Жыл бұрын
This is absolutely fair! And yes, that one is on me, I will absolutely give that it's foreshadowed in Leif's vision. My bad on that one! Though I'll still argue that it isn't really foreshadowed outside of that beyond a couple shots of it looking vaguely menacing in the background, that's still a clear setup that I forgot. Apologies XD And I do agree about what you say in Amphibia's finale being shared between those- at one point the plan was to include both them and Weirdmaggeddon Part 1 and 2, but decided to keep things focused on purely the three "hour-long" finales!

@@themadmagpie1742 While this is still a nice video, I also have to gripe about how you said the Core's final plan was less set up and foreshadowed compared to Belos taking over the Titan, but.. How was that ever true? Belos possessing the Titan was set up in the SAME episode it was used. If anything, all the set up was building to a fight with the *Collector* in the end, while Belos' plans ultimately kept fluctuating or remained unclear after the draining spell failed (what was he even doing in the human realm? Was he always planning to manipulate the Collector? Because he initially tried to kill him. And then, he lucked out by learning that Titans were strong, and therefore he suddenly realizes he can possess it's entire corpse? What??). Like, we didn't even know that was POSSIBLE until the Owl House finale, and neither did the character himself. Seeing as the Titan's heart sat above his throne the whole series. Meanwhile, the Moon falling was foreshadowed ever since the prophecy was first shown in mid season 2 (it's "the fall" that prophecy references), and then we saw it again in Liefs vision. Also, there was that clear stinger at the end of All In. Compare that to For the Future, which didn't set up a battle with Belos AT ALL. Again, all that time went toward developing the Collector, and setting up his confrontation with King (and that was relegated to a *montage* in the end).

@@DLxxx Interesting, I got the impression the titan being used by Belos was being set up in the first shot we got from Belos with the Titans heart beating over him. Chekhov's gun and all that.
@DLxxx
@DLxxx Жыл бұрын
@@Folomus No. That's not "Checkhov's gun." It was a PROP. Unlike a gun that's mounted on the wall (which is the example the trope is named after), the heart was never remotely implied or presented to be a *tool* that can be used (or hold any sort of value whatsover). Nothing in the text or subtext pointed toward that idea. In fact, it was the opposite: Titan magic was always restricted to Titan BLOOD, which was rare, and difficult to come by. This subtextually tells us that if the heart wasn't completely useless, then Belos would've looked into using it for his projects (like the portal door) a long time ago. He didn’t... No, no. Checkhov's gun would involve laying seeds for some kind of development. MENTIONING it in some way shape or form, instead of just panning past it with little to no emphasis (we NEED to know it can be used, because that'swhat seperates a tool from a prop/setpiece). Like, perhaps Belos vaguely alludes to this mysterious "emergency back up plan" that he might have to resort to if all else fails. Maybe there's some sort of ancient incantation or spell hidden in the visuals of the show that allude to someone wanting to control the Titan’s power. Or perhaps those tubes powering the portal door could've been siphoning off the heart directly (telling us it has Titan magic in it). Ya know, foreshadowing. Build up. Substance. Literally ANYTHING to make that ending come less out of nowhere. You can't just tell Belos that "Titan’s are strong", as if everyone didn't already know that (why else would Belos base his entire cultists religion around the Titan? Of course he already knew), and then have him miraculously believe he can use the very thing he's been sitting under the whole series to effortlessly accomplish his goal. It's nonsense.

nah I think that TOH's epilogue is really really good, because keeping contact between the world simply makes sense, but IT STILL IS BITTERSWEET because when it ends, and Luz realizes she cant do glyph magic anymore... In all honesty, I love the endings of Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and the Owl House roughly the same. Gravity Falls had an epic finale against the most powerful antagonist of the three series, which ended with an unexpected sacrifice, a goodbye with Dipper and Mabel, along with the possibility of their return to Gravity Falls. Amphibia had a great finale in which Anne, Sasha, and Marcy worked together with great powers to try to save Amphibia, ending with the unexpected sacrifice by Anne and her return, the heartfelt goodbye that the calamity trio had with their Amphibia counterparts, and the timeskips of both Amphibia and Earth which signified everything coming full circle. The owl house had a great finale, especially with the limited time it had. The owl house redeemed the Collector, had Luz make an unexpected sacrifice and come back, had Luz get a great power up and team up with Eda, King, and Raine to finally defeat Belos, had Philip get the punishment he deserved, had a great end credits scene and nice timeskip, and definitely had a great send off for a series that ended too soon, yet left it open ended enough for more stories in the owl house to be told. I honestly hope more stories can be told that can further connect these shows together.

But when Soos became Mr Mystery broke my heart.

Can't say Amphibia ending moved me much. The whiplash in tone from seasons 2 to 3 made it a bit difficult. That the villains were not really developed also made them less threatening, and the lack of foreshadowing in several of the last episodes made multiple elements seem like contrivances instead of something to be dreaded. It is like Alfred Hitchcock said. If a bomb explodes in a restaurant, spectators are surprised. If they see the bomb slowly ticking behind a table, spectators are in suspense.

Oooh, I've had been thinking on this concept in some detail since WAD released. Braindump incoming: So, at first the show is advertised as a sequel series to TOH, with a towards-the-end-of-university aged Luz going on new adventures and the Archivists are hinted as being the main villains in the trailers/promotional material. However, by the first episode, Luz and Amity join the Collector on a spying mission into the Archivists main residence (as he's put together by himself that they're up to something and they overlook mortals in their realm). Then, at the end of the second episode, the two spies overhear a mysterious call between a senior Archivist and a mysterious someone they are very polite towards. At the very end, we hear this: "According to the monitoring charms placed on the planet, the host is almost strong enough for harvesting. Soon, your soul will be complete once more, Lord Cipher!" Then, we hear some very familiar laughter coming from the other end and glimpse a flash of Bill Cipher, laughing in a void, before we then cut to a young man, waking up from a nightmare, sweating so hard, his fringe is stuck to his forehead. He stumbles out of bed, grabs his phone and calls a number. When the person on the other end answers, he says "Grunkle Ford? I had another vision. I think He's not as dead as we thought.". As he says that, he wipes his brow, revealing a familiar constellation-shaped birthmark on his forehead. Cut again, to a bedroom, with two women sleeping in one bed and a third heading towards the bathroom. The only thing we can tell about them currently is that the sleeping pair have blonde and black hair and the awake one has brown hair. We then get a POV look of her washing her hands, then a spark of blue energy passes over her fingers. The head jots up and we can now see that not only is her face familiar, but her hair is starting to spark as well and her eyes are glowing blue. Finally, we hear from the bedroom: "Um, Anna Banana, is that what I think it is? Because it isn't just you..." Finally, we cut to the original title screen before it glitches and is replaced with "Owlphibia Falls: Cipher's Revenge" End of episode, cue the related fandoms losing their shit. Now, for the explanation of the lore/Cipher's plan. As part of Cipher's deal with the Axolotl, a portion of his soul is sent off through time and space before landing in the In Between above the Demon Realm. When King's father lays his son's egg, the Archivists receive a vision of the soul piece fusing with King, as well as a message from Bill: Make sure the piece gets to "heal" and in return, Bill will grant them access to many realms to Archive when they deliver the piece to him. However, the extraction process will kill King. As for Amphibia's side of the deal, not only is the Guardian a protege of the Axolotl and thus aware of the danger of Cipher, but Bill wants to control the Calamity magic and has made a deal with a portion of the Core that he saved just before they were evaporated by Calamity Anne: Make a control device for the holders, give it to him and leave Earth for him, and in return, he will give the Core technology and powers just as strong and direct them towards thousand of other dimensions to invade, conquer and strip bare. This whole show is set about 6 months after the Amphibia timeskip, thus why Luz is already almost done with university. And yes, Sashannarcy is a thing here.

Another thing I would like to point out, which I don't think enough people think about. The ending of The Owl House for me was the most satisfying thing in a long time on my own / at least for the animations / and precisely because it ended happily. Yes, the ending of Amphibia is sadder, and a lot of people focus on that and claim it as a plus without thinking about whether it makes sense to have a sad ending here in The Owl House Finale. In my opinion, purely thematically, this finale was perfect for this show. And considering everything that has happened on a global scale in the last three years, a happy ending for something and positivity was just what was needed. For some reason, people tend to focus on the negative and ignore the positive, and that's why they like darker and more pessimistic things. I'm personally very against it because both happy and sad endings are equally powerful, depending on the context and messages of the story, and I find it a double standard every time I hear someone like a sadder ending to something without even thinking about whether makes sense or not. / This is not really addressed in the video, but I wanted to mention it because I know there will be people who will say that something is better because it is sadder and will ignore many other elements that are much more important /.

What I liked about Anne and Luz’s deaths are that they represent the world they live in, in a way. Amphibia is a delicate world with a fragile ecosystem that was messed up pretty much as soon as the robots starting being functional, thus Anne’s death is a whisper on the wind and she looks fragile While the Boiling Isles is kind of grotesque and is kinda ugly on the outside, like the fungus that covers Luz, the light is the people who are warm inside of this gross isle I always liked that Owl house was able to lean more into the grotesque themes and make some of those horror elements come through

Yeah. To be honest, while people are allowed to have their own opinions, there are just.. WAY too many double standards and biases being thrown around in ways that are unfair to the show. Like, the top comment simultaneously acknowledged how the Owl House had to deal with Disney's BS, yet criticized Amphibia S3a for being too light hearted? Somehow _completely_ missing the fact that the only reason it ended up that way was because Disney strong armed them into dialing back on the bleak tone established in True Colors, and putting more emphasis on comedy again. Similarly, the video maker criticized the Core taking over the moon for its lack of foreshadowing (forgetting all the set up for it across the series and even external media like the chili shorts), while never acknowledging that Belos taking over the Titan came out of NOWHERE. Neither the audience, nor the character himself knew that was possible until the beggining of the finale (and even then, all Belos was told was that the Titans were "strong", not that he could reanimated its corpse by fusing with its heart).

I personally disagree with you but I’m not saying you’re wrong but in my opinion Gravity Falls is the best because it has the best villain and the death of the main villain. Has an amazing prologue and outro not to mention the final fight. It had some great sences between Stanley and Ford and Soos like Ford and Stan final sailing around the world, Soos becomes Mr Mystery, and Ford finally sees that Stan isn’t the most selfish person in the world and sacrifices himself to save everything and probably realizes that he opened the portal to save him and heck old man Mcgucken got to do something with his son. I feel like these 3 have honestly been the best finale's out of all the disney shows, set up a new standard for ending a series, and each can be argued as being the best finale of Disney shows. I'm honestly still not really show which I prefer since each finale are so similar, yet so different that it's hard tp really pick. Each one has an aspect that I feel is done better than the other to finales. For Gravity Falls Bill Cipher is the best villain of the 3 shows and had the most satisfying death. For Amphibia I felt the shows ending hit me the hardest out of the 3. For Owl House had the best climatic battle. Which yeah was pointed out in the video but still it's pretty much my thoughts as well.

I'm a hard Amphibia stan so personally I gotta give the final goodbye and final fight to that show. That feeling you got with Owl House's last fight with the sense of joy of seeing these characters together is the feeling I got with Amphibia. It's seeing these girls having grown from all their issues and problems, finally coming together emotionally, and they're just having fun as they fight to save this world they've grown to love, despite its horrors and the ordeals they went through during their time there. To me it just hits harder. Again, I'm massively biased towards Amphibia due to its tone and world, but I think it does lead to me having a stronger emotional connection to its characters than Owl House's. Both shows are great though, and Owl House gets massive props for managing to do what it did with so little time. (Also dang it really is wild how many plot beats both shows share lmao)

You know I think Amphibia's problem is that it's way less popular, because the All In + The Hardest Thing combo is probably, imo, the strongest ending of the three in terms of wrapping up the themes, characters, and narrative threads of the show. But Owl House recency bias and popularity meant it, once again, was unfairly overshadowed by shows it's just as good as if you ask me.

I have love for all three of these shows but I also think that Amphibia's ending doesn't get as much love as the other two and tends to get down played a lot when comparing (mostly to TOH). I see people saying the TOH one is bittersweet and imo it's just not. Luz does get go between worlds, sees the new friends she made, and also still gets to learn magic just in a new form. While Anne might be a clone of herself and also never gets to go back to one of her best friends ever again. All great finals, just feels like people aren't giving Amphibia's it's due credit

What I love about Gravity falls' finale is that, unlike The owl house or amphibia, the people who defeat Bill are just humans. While there are those who feel that the zodiac should've worked, I am happy it didn't. The pines family had no superpowers, or god-like beings supporting them. All they had was each other and a plan.

gravity falls had the main characters leaving the place where the majority of the show took place, yet they could still come back next summer no matter what amphibia had the main character leaving the place where the majority of the show took place permanently, never finding a way back but still holding onto the memories they had there the owl house had the main character live in both places, because she has people that care about her on each side that will love and protect her for years to come and i think those are all sweet endings

i feel like that most bitter sweet moment out of the three is knowing what could have been in the owl house finale see the glimpses of possiblity the last season could have given and whats worst then the slight dread of "will this come through with how little time they have to reslive it" coming up to the finale but the bitter sweet after the seeing how good it was and seeing the moments we missed seeing the photos of episides that we will never see.

I don’t think Hunter would’ve been a good choice to stomp Belos, I don’t think he’d want to do it, I think he just wanted a break from directly dealing with him. No one should have to be face to face with their abuser, and I think Hunter staying with his friends and Camila was healthier for him.

Personally, I will always regard the finale of amphibia as "All in". I know that "The hardest thing" was the last episode, but I strongly believe it was far less satisfying than "All in" and for the most part unnecessary. "All in" basically finished all story arcs in a satifying way, and don't get me wrong, "The hardest thing" was a great episode, but it never felt like a finale. It was more or less a celebration of the show and how far it has come. But, I think we can all agree that the ending of "The hardest thing" was basically perfection.

Getting my obligatory Gravity Falls fan comment in: Amazing video! I usually get very frustrated by people covering GF due to their lack of knowledge on the show and it's history, as well as why certain decisions and sacrifices had to be made in order to air the finale at all. One of those and admittedly the worst is how quickly Stan's memory comes back. Or rather seems to come back. In Journal 3 it is confirmed that his memory took an entire week to get to the point he is in the final scene, and it's a widely agreed upon headcanon that the more complicated memories come back even later. But i do think that a finale should be good even without bonus materials, and sadly that's the only pitfall it suffers from for me. The only thing i disagree with in your coverage of this series is that Dipper as a main character gets sidelined. The truth is that his character finale actually happened in Weirdmageddon 2 with him rescuing Mabel. Stanley is the real third protagonist and there are a whole lot essays out there on how he is actually the reason the plot of this show moves at all. Stan is just as important as Dipper and Mabel, but didn't have as many moments to shine as them, which is why him being the star of the finale is fitting. He is the emotional heart of the show. His story is the reason Gravity Falls even happens. So i believe it's unfair to focus on Dipper instead of him in this particular instance. But i guess everyone has their own opinions. Sorry for the slight rant

I love the amphibia ending maybe even more than Gravity falls. As Magpie sad, bitter sweet is such an underrated emotion and as someone who has said goodbye to family while moving away it hurt really badly. My little sisters were to young to remember the move but i was old enough to understand i might not see that side of my family in person again. Especially when we are moving from California to the other side of the country (So it hurt even more knowing Anne got a job at The Aquarium of the Pacific which i have multiple core memories of). It was so surreal. Me bawling my eyes out as if my pet died in my arms while my sisters watch on worriedly (albiet with tears in their eyes aswell). Im not going to beat around the bush. Amphibia was the best show out of the three for me. I may have grown up with Gravity falls and Hunter will be one of my favorite character archs of all time, but as a show Amphibia stole my heart, tore it, and fused it back together in a warming hug.

I really don't see how Belos' final plan was any less rushed than the Core's. The idea of him taking over Titan was set up within the SAME episode it was used, and unlike the Core's final act, there were no visions or prophecy leading up to it. At all. Like, from a storytelling standpoint, those stakes literally spawned out of nowhere, which is why I personally couldn't be gripped by the final battle in the Owl House.

In my opinion Gravity Falls is the best because it has the best villain and the death of the main villain. Has an amazing prologue and outro not to mention the final fight. It had some great scenes between Stanley and Ford and Soos like Ford and Stan final sailing around the world, Soos becomes Mr Mystery, and Ford finally sees that Stan isn’t the most selfish person in the world and sacrifices himself to save everything and probably realizes that he opened the portal to save him and heck old man Mcgucken got to do something with his son. Also Stan had a great realization moment. Edit: I think Gravity Falls has the best final battle

'Whomever the villain has hurt the most should be the one to decide their fate' is my opinion for defeats. Hunter definitely should've gotten to defeat Bellos--ideally alongside Caleb, who proves that 'defending' the world you were raised doesn't mean molding all else into your image.

i've only seen gravity falls and the owl house, but from those two i'd say Belos is the best villain. i love Bill and he was amazing! but a god-like creature doing bad feels like there isn't too much personality to. what does he hope to achieve with it? would it really satisfy him? the build up to Bill was mehhh because he's a very straight forward character. sure, he was mysterious at first, but everyone could guess he'd have some insane plan. Belos on the other hand was a human with a goal in mind, something pure evil because he believes magic is bad and should not exist. while stuck in his own reality, it made him a real person. and even then, what would stop him from abusing these powers to also take over the human world?! i bet he'd get a lot more story if there were more episodes, and i still hope to see more about him and ESPECIALLY Caleb, as he felt almost irrelevant to the story. Hunter deserved much more love in the ending, even with the lack of episodes they still should've tried in my opinion. like Hunter being the one turning his back towards Belos, or offering a chance to change his mind because they have a more unique connection to each other. they're both amazing and made the perfect ending to the series, but character wise i'd say Belos wins and could've gotten even more if there was time to do so

I think you discredit Dippers impact on the finale, most of his important plot points are from the other episodes in the finale, his confrontation in Mabel's world and his seemingly powerlessness after Ford is turned to gold and the destruction of the journals. Dippers focus was not the last episode his development was completed before the last episode started.

Ohhh I know we’ll meet again some sunny daaay!” “Ohh I’m here, I’m finally here!” “What the!? No no no NO!” “Guys; seriously? I've never really got the love for the Gravity Falls ending. Don't get me wrong, I think it's good, but it highlights my biggest problem with the ending itself: it feels like a whole season is missing to me. What I mean by this: Gravity Falls has a cast of great side characters that people like, but they don't feel "complete" by the time the credits on Weirdmageddon roll. Pacifica got 2 good episodes, but still had a little room to grow. Robbie doesn't really get that growth, and kind of needed it to make the finale work for him. Gideon's last minute redemption of sorts (if you can even call it a "redemption") is one of the weakest moments of the finale. McGucket really only had "Society of the Blind Eye" to get decent characterization, despite how important he sort of is. Stanford is my biggest sticking point, because it feels like he had no real room to make much of an impression on the audience. I personally feel like most people like the character because he confirms headcanons and theories from early Gravity Falls fandom by just existing, and I wanted more time to actually learn who this guy was, rather than lean on fanon to fill in the gaps. I feel like the show needed one more season, even if it was half length, to actually have the legs to make the finale work for me. As it is, it's fine, but I feel sort of cheated for getting invested in things, only to have Alex Hirsch kinda pull the rug out from under me because he apparently didn't even want to do 2 seasons (don't ask me where I heard this, I've long since forgot). When compared to Amphibia, I think the finale of Amphibia hits the best, even if I think the show is the weakest of the three in the video overall. The show's themes, primarily it's theme of "things change, sometimes that's hard and scary, but you need to keep moving forward" work as well as they do, in my opinion, because the finale has those emotional kicks to the gut. Anne saying goodbye to her found family, and never seeing them again is a bittersweet note to end on, but it bookends the theme of how things change beautifully. Combine that with Anne's final words, and I get a little emotional just thinking about it as I type this. The Core was never really the point, it was just a vehicle for the theme, so it going out like a bitch really didn't bug me. The Owl House I think has a bit of a mixed bag of a finale, though I get why it's the way it is. I like it more than Gravity Falls ending by a longshot because despite being cut off at the knees, it feels like most of what it wanted to do with it's core cast was done. I think the only casualty of the ending being how it was is Hunter, and that's mostly because I don't think the show did enough with him by the end to really make him feel like a well rounded character. I still like him, but feel like he's the weakest link. It's clear they wanted to do more, and that's why I'm being nicer than I am with Gravity Falls, because Alex clearly didn't want to do more, and that left me unsatisfied. Most everything about the finale of The Owl House kicks Weirdmageddon to the curb for me, and it's not even close. I think my biggest pet peeve outside of Hunter is that Stringbean just feels wasted because of how late in the story she was shown before Luz just gets an anime super form and we call it a day. Keep in mind, despite me disliking Weirdmageddon, Gravity Falls was my favorite show UNTIL I watched The Owl House, and I got to that super late. I've watched both shows several times, and while I think Gravity Falls has better highs, I think The Owl House is more consistently good.

the Gravity falls ending will never fail to be amazing to me i love stan's character arc and writing and the way that is focused on rather than the twins' development, because that got it's moment in the previous three episodes. they needed to address the older pines twins relationship and they did that in an amazing way, and it also showed dipper and mabel were ready to leave, they'd healed and were closer than ever and that is what made it possible for the finale to happen in the first place, and what made it okay that they were leaving in the end.

I kinda laughed to myself watching Amphibia because so much of the finale was hinted at but we didn’t take any of it seriously. 😂 Marcy makes a lot of references to legend of Zelda and in one of those games the moon falls. At least to me, one of the biggest differences between the owl house's and amphibia's endings is how they handle death and revival. Both are more or less a literal deus ex machina, but the main differences are order and setup. Luz dies before the final fight trying to save the collector, gets sent to the in between realm and is then revived by the titan with a power boost. Anne firstly gets a power boost, sacrifices herself to destroy the core and then gets revived by god. This meeting with god seemingly comes out of nowhere (at least in a casual watchthrough), in contrast to TOH, where both the location and the titan are pre-established. In addition to that, Luz' power boost was only achieved through the titans last breath, further raising the stakes in the final battle. So by comparing these two endings, Anne's revival feels like a cheap trick, while Luz' revival feels earned (including that a character still died to make that happen).

I've never felt stronger and more agreed with these opinions. The set up, Stan vs Bill, and the goodbye were easily the most powerful scenes in gravity falls. Something so satisfying about Stan defeating this smug and all powerful false idol that is bill. The Owl house went all out by making the 3 characters we knew and love the main focus and gave us a spectacular finale and gave us an incredible and enjoyable irredeemable villain for the first time in what's been years for Disney animation making him fit in with all the older classic villains. Amphibia gave us the best goodbye possible and the aftermath of what's to come by far giving us such a bittersweet symphony.

THREE THINGS - FIRST For the villains. I think Bill and Belos are equal in villain quality. And I think the ending for both of them is 10/10 and they both ended the way they deserved. If I'm being honest I find Belos a better villain than Bill, in terms of being a more interesting character anyway, Bill is more fun to watch for sure but he's never been particularly deep and interesting character, actually quite simple /I WANT TO DESTROY THE WORLD because reason/. And yes, I also think that Hunter should have been one of those who delivered the final blow, BUT technically Hunter said what he had to say to Belos already in Thanks To Them and stood up to him and stood up for himself and by then there was already a personal confrontation between them so I more or less forgive that, and let's not forget that technically Stan and Bill didn't have a particularly personal relationship either / Ford was the one who had personal problems with Bill, and Ford had no chance to deliver the final blow, and no, the use of memory-gun I don't count it as a final blow/ . And about the Core, I just won't comment, generic AS HELL, as you said. SECOND regarding the final battles of all three. I'm of the opinion that Gravity Falls had the worst final battle out of the three, I'm talking about the fight with Bill's allies and our people, the music of this battle was great but the battle itself, in my opinion, is super lame and uninteresting. Then in second place is Amphibia, this battle is pretty ok, not the best they could ask for from their back pocket considering their capabilities but still pretty ok. And without a doubt the best fight is for The Owl House, where the design and the atmosphere and the animation and the characters and the dynamics and the interesting ways to use powers and moves are 11/10, hands down. Third . from those listed Gravity Falls, The Owl House and Amphibia - The Owl House did this with the return of already killed characters, the best, because purely logically in relation to the context of the story, there were quite solid hints and foreshadowing that this place will play a role and that the titan is helping Luz, so there was a solid build up and implications for something like that, and it tied in purely logically quite well. Even if I knew that Luz would survive, it still had an impact and it was done effectively enough not to cause problems, a bit like a magic trick, you know I'm going to lie to you but still because it's done well enough, you still like it. And at least in my opinion, in this aspect and in a few others that I won't go into, The Owl House truly surpasses Amphibia. With Amphibia it was 50/50, on the one hand they somewhat stayed and held on to the self-sacrifice, but on the other hand they returned Ann back, separately there were no hints before that something like this was possible, literally in the last episode we found out so that there would be an excuse to return Anne. Unfortunately, Gravity Falls did the worst of the three, there was absolutely no reason to bring Stan memories back, none. Keep in mind that this is all just my opinion, if anyone disagrees or thinks I'm wrong about something, they're always welcome to explain to me.

I agree, I would rank Amphibia higher if we got more than an episode to know about the secret spell that kills Anne.

Disagree in the final battles, the figth's in Gravity Falls Weirdmageddon were the most epic for me. I agree in everything else

@@IngresaElNombreDelCanal Fair enough . I just find this battle quite skippable, the music holds it, but the battle itself and the things that happen just don't work for me as action. Plus, the battle was fought against some mini-bosses that nobody cares about. In my opinion, Gravity False has never been a strong point in battles, especially compared to the other two. But hey, if you think it's the best, then it is, I won't argue.

Ok, NOT TO START A WAR HERE, but I feel like Amphibia should be first, owl house second and gravity falls third. It’s just my opinion, please do not start a war in the comments because you have your own opinions. Thank you!

the bittersweet endings and the happy ending were perfect. gravity falls have very few and minor problems which is why its still heavily stands the test of time, amphibia had a couple problems as the 3rd season felt a bit to slow for me but the owl houses ending always stuck out to me even though it aired 2 weeks ago and that's because both these shows could have ran way longer but they ended it on there terms. the owl house never got the choice and there was going to be another season but even with the setbacks it was a ending that was perfect for that story

I don’t think Hunter doing the stomping would’ve been in character He’s not a violent person, despite his whole life being groomed to be so. He’s still processing and healing from his trauma and abuse, despite Belos being a horrible abuser he was still a father figure to Hunter, and he’s still recovering from that. Hence his shock and speechlessness when the collector splated Belos. With Hunter still recovering and processing his trauma, I think him stomping Belos wouldn’t really be In character

A few words about Gravity Falls. -On Disney+ (and other media), it says that the actual finale was Weirdmaggedeon 4: Somewhere In The Woods. But on other media like DVD, Blue-ray, and episodes on things like Disney Channel and Prime Video, Gravity Falls Weirdmaggedeon 4 got combined with Weirdnaggedeon 3: Take Back The Falls.

For me, Amphibia's finale was the best one, then comes Gravity Falls and finally Owl House. Seeing Anne, Sasha and Marcy leave the world they learned to love and all the people in it is so sad but it's perfect for a show that talks about change and friendship. And at the end see how everything that happened stayed with them in some way makes everything more beautiful. Gravity Falls ending was so cool, Bill's death was so satisfactory and Stan's sacrifice was very emotional, but I wish that his memories didn't come back so easily. Owl House finale was amazing but you can feel that some things were rushed. The animation goes hard, Belos feels extremely menacing and it's nice to see how everyone' s life went on.
