You missed a chance to expose a unique feature of Studio One. Yes, you can bounce the MIDI track to audio, just as you showed, but going one step further, Studio One has a function called "Transform to Audio Track". This function will perform the bounce in-place, without the need to create a separate track, at the same time maintaining the state of the old MIDI track in the background so you can go back and forth if you need to make changes. Really nifty, and a big time saver, especially when working with hardware instruments.

You only mentioned Presence and Impact xt as vst’s, are Mai Tai and Mojito not considered also as vst’s? Other thing, can you make a video about the routing inside Mai Tai, i’m talking about bottom side inside the plugin, I have a hard time understanding how it works. Thanks

Good point! I’m only recommending Presence and Impact Drums because those are the 2 I use most often. I am primarily recording guitars and real instruments so VSTs are typically a minimal part of what I use. Even with VSTs I’m usually loading instruments like strings and choirs so Presence is sufficient for me. I’m sure Mai Tai is great but not in my wheelhouse at the moment 😅

Chris, I love your tutorials with studio one! Why does your desk face the window in your studio room? I have the same situation. I oredered acoustic panels and diffusers for a similiar size room as yours. I use a presonus studio live 24 mixer with a patch bay. But now that I'm an alesis command mesh electric drum kit, I don't need all those channels. Using a mixer however gets rid all latency problems. I really appriciate all you do!

Thanks for asking! Things move around a lot in my room because I’m mainly focused on recording videos for KZbin. The light from the window helps for a better picture quality and I also prefer facing the window for my own sanity 😂 I have previously been in a room where I acoustically treated every inch of the room and felt like I was in a dungeon so I’m compromising in that way. Having a heavy curtain to cover the windows would probably do best to get rid of any reflections from the glass. I also primarily use headphones for mixing so the speakers are only used if I have other people in the room to hear something. Acoustics can easily drive you crazy so do what you can but try to keep the room an enjoyable place to be and you will learn the quirks of what makes the room work for you

Hello Chris, I just watched this video, incredible, actually I was looking for something like this, vey helpful tutorial, I am making an intro for my music, its mainly metal and heavy stuff, I normally use guitar and bass as my main instruments and use a drum plug in to make the drum track, do you think I can use presense to add intro made from those other instruments within presense, such as piano, organ, strings, so on?

Sorry this is late but you can absolutely use Presence for all sorts of genres. I would say any song you’ve heard feature the strings from the 80’s and 90’s can be replicated with the samples featured in free Presonus VSTs, great for a transition to heavy drums & guitars
