If you have challenged cooling like this the thing to do is use PBO and set a temperature limit of your choosing for it in the BIOS. You can't set a temp limit for a manual overlock. And set a lower than stock voltage for it (under 1.3v).

Very nice rig man! I'm running a 5800x with a 360 AIO and it still gets pretty warm under full load. They're super hot little beasts! Any reason why the 5600x wouldn't be a better option in this build? About to build in the Velka 7 and thinking the 5600x will be a better bet with that cooling set up.

Great video, really well explained and very easy to follow and the rig is awesome! Maybe you can answer a question - what do you think about traveling with a rig like this? That is actually my use case - I'd like to put the whole thing in a backpack. Would it need a hard case?

Actually it’s been found by many people using this cooler that intake config results in better cooling. I have one side of the case doing intake (CPU & GPU fans), while the 2 fans on the other side does exhaust, since getting rid of hot air is very important

Used this same case with a 10-400 cpu and evga sc2 1080ti. Loved the compact size, but was much hotter in this little case. Also had to tape in my 4tb 2.5 drive since there are no mounts for 2.5 or 3.5 drives. Looking at a SV540 w/ 5600x and water cooling next to have a small form factor, but better cooling and more room for 2.5 drives. Maybe do a build for me with APU and 240 liquid cooler once the APU's get a little better.

@pavelgorlachuk1460
@pavelgorlachuk1460 2 жыл бұрын
Simon, the liquid cooling is not a magical thing, it just allows you to use a bigger radiator for heat dissipation. Then you want to compare this Alpenfohn 120mm vs the liquid cooling solution. Presumably this will be a 120mm rad, almost of the same size as the aircooler, so the difference is marginal. Small benefit: downdraft cooler also slightly cools the VRM heatsinks.

Also, not sure your slim Noctua case fans contribute much in this config - can you compare the temps with gpu fan speed fixed (with and without those case fans)? Overall great build, big fan of those SFF cases. Cheers.

Hey villaman I heard you got the Sony a90j? I wanted to let you know before you do any comparisons as I know you do it mostly on KZbin. just wanted to let you know the a90j will not change to wide color space in KZbin automatically. you have to force it to bt2020 Vincent from HDTV test covered this. Usually auto will do it by itself when you have colorspace set to auto but not on the a90j with the KZbin app. just want you to know so you don't do the comparison and go wait the a90j color isn't as saturated when in fact it is. Its just auto doesn't work with the KZbin in hdr on the a90j. You have to physically change it to bt2020. I wanted to let you know that in advance. To many people on KZbin don't know this and aren't realizing it. Just like abt comparison,I they didn't switch it on the Sony and it makes people see false information in comparisons. Lg and Samsung and eveb past Sony tvs when in auto they go to wide color so just want to let you kneo for your comparisons to make sure it's in wide which is bt2020 on the Sony. Vincent had to do it also and he says it is correct when turning it on with hdr content on KZbin.
@ThaVillaMan
@ThaVillaMan 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the tip. I did get the A90J and I’m curious about the bug. I usually use a Panasonic UB820 Blu ray player’s built KZbin app so both TVs have the same input, but I’ll do some digging to see how it would affect me. Thanks for the heads up!
@reviewforthetube6485
@reviewforthetube6485 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThaVillaMan yeah it may not do it with the Blu ray it seems to be only the internal app so you should be good. Just in case switch from auto to bt 2020 while running content see if you see a difference if you don't then all good. Sony will def refine the KZbin app and update it sometime I know that for sure. I just want the comspridons to be fair to many people don't know how to work the tv correctly and don't realize to check if anything is off. But man oh man its an absolutely stunning tv the detail the sharpness and the color are all on pint and the small highlights are so nice. Gives such a 3 dimensional effect. The shadow detail is insane also.
@reviewforthetube6485
@reviewforthetube6485 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThaVillaMan I think what I love about Sony is just how you can get any picture you want. Super accurate or super colorful. Black adjust can give a ton of extra depth and then live color can add more saturation it's just it can do anything. Also what differs in color between lg and Sony is that Sony has so much detail within the color. It's jdut something special to watch never been this impressed by an oled with thus much dynamic range. I literally ahd my c1 for 2 weeks and had to return it for the a90j after I found out just how good it was from John and the guys that have been around for a long time. When Vincent and John and others told me it's the best image/processing they have seen out of all the years they have done this. I knew I had to get it lol.

It is important that we compare apples with apples. Let me explain. The PS5 and the Xbox Series X cost about $500 Moreover they have a RDNA2 GPU And an AMD Zen 2 CPU Thus we would have to make a PC build of a 6700 XT 3600 We would then need to compare both FPS and Image Quality. FPS alone is not a measure of how powerful a gaming PC or a console is. Try playing Cyberpunk on PC at 4K with all settings turned as Low as possible. I think that for the money you pay, a console is a good value for money. On the other hand, if you belong to the 0.01% of the entire human population and were NOT negatively affected by the COVID Pandemic and can spend the amount of 5 consoles or more... In that case PC gaming is for you.
