Best part is that not only are skits fire, but the critical assessment is in depth and objective
@inceptional Жыл бұрын
@@beau-urns Yeah, it's objective in that it calls out what's decent or not about each version respectively. None of which changes the fact that this is a pretty decent and expected-quality for a platform game by Genesis's standards, minus some parallax that was common on the console, but far below what the SNES is capable of in so many areas. So, yeah, pretty good for Genesis, and pretty crap for SNES, all things being relative. Of course, it's a pretty meh game regardless imo, so both consoles were/are capable of much more when all is said and done.

Been on a roll with the Amiga associated videos as of late; hilarious thumbnail (I had to do a double-take on that one) and even more hilarious acting as per usual! 1:46 - Loving all the cameos and reference to past episodes. Also, ouch! 3:20 - Funny enough, I first learned that Narcolepsy was a thing because of video games (Pokémon's Erika). Thinking about it, that could make a fun and annoying mechanic in a video game. 4:46 - Based on screenshots so far, I'm going to guess graphics for Nintendo but presentation for Sega. The former's wider sprites and brighter colours look nicer but the wider view of the latter makes it easier to see things ahead and works out better gameplay wise. 7:12 - While I do agree the SNES version overall looks better, I do find it funny this comparison begins with the ice level; the one stage that looks better on the Mega Drive due to it's sparkle effects and the simpler black background actually working to it's benefit. 12:00 - Woo; my prediction was right! No idea how the Sound and Gameplay parts are going to pan out though so I shall simply look forward to your analysis. 15:38 - The belly butt attack did seem a little random. I guess it does take into consideration the beer belly that Chuck has in his design. The chuck rock attack seems more naturally incorporated though into the game design. Blocking the overhead projectiles is also a delightful multi-purpose usage of the mechanic.

Graphics: Some things on the Genesis move when on the SNES do not and vice versa. SNES does have better use of color. SNES has a slight edge. Presentation: Genesis has very few extra things. SNES has the same amount in the ending. Nothing better than the other, really. Tie. Sound: Music specifically for the bosses is a plus. SNES does much better with the sound effects. SNES wins here. Gameplay: Genesis does not do much with the screen not being cropped. Genesis screen looks like it has been stretched up and down compared to SNES. No ice physics in a game is a plus for SNES. Having at least 1 continue on Genesis and extra lives are something everyone would want. Genesis wins gameplay. I have to say that SNES wins this one, but I would prefer Genesis for the continues and extra lives. Pink Goes to Hollywood is next.

Hey, I do the exact same thing in my head whenever I watch one of their videos. :D For example, I just know that whenever they do Rock and Roll Racing, they're going to give the Genesis version the victory for smoother framerate, slightly higher resolution, and an extra song. But in my head, I'll be giving the SNES version the victory for the graphics and music being leagues better, because to me, that's what matters for that game. I still love their videos though.

Oh you covered one of my favourite games this time round ''Chuck Rock'' Awesome! I always have time for this game as it's one of my favourite platformers on the Mega Drive, only the Mega-CD version beats it. This is one of my very favourite episodes, the skit was absolute gold! Having to wait 16 minutes for Scorpion's keyboards was hilarious! Was Pat humping that bass guitar on stage? I fell off my chair laughing when the caveman fell asleep in the middle of his guitar solo, woke up and farted, those banana peel slips were funny, Donkey Kong lol. I feel the Mega Drive port had the better sound as well. The music was done by Matt Furniss and his quality on the console was 99.9% of the time always good. Another clever detail that I don't think was mentioned was how the bass drums/kick drums had the publishers name on it as a nice touch on the title screen. Well done Dan and Pat! I'm still waiting for Lemmings.

Wow! I'm honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this Episode! I'd even say it was a step up from the previous Episode, both in terms of the sketches and the analysis of the games! I love how you're still finding creative ways to bring back your various costumes and props! That's actually something I've been meaning to compliment you about for a while now. This Episode seems like a good time to do it. I think it's impressive how you figured out how to bring back Earthworm Jim, Terry Bogard and Scorpion, along with including callbacks to the Episodes they came from. Also, nice callback to the "Joe & Mac" Episode, especially since both that game and "Chuck Rock" are both about cavemen! Loved the comparisons of both versions of the game! It sure did feel interesting because of how balanced and not-one-sided it was! Overall, an excellent Episode, and, IMO, and even better entry for 2023 than the previous Episode, "True Lies". Here's to more greatness in 2023! Y'know, I've been meaning to put in my suggestions for games for a long time. Having scanned through your VGCollect game collection many times, I can offer you the following suggestions for 2023. Specifically, which games to do for Halloween-themed and Christmas-themed Episodes. I hope I didn't suggest these too late for you to sufficiently prepare for. You could save the Halloween one for 2024, if you think you can't make it in time for Halloween 2023. Halloween 2023: Wolfchild You've done Episode plots about zombies, vampires and Frankenstein's Monster for past Halloween Episodes. I figure doing a Episode about "Wolfchild" would be a good excuse to do a plot about werewolves. Christmas 2023: James Pond: Robocod I believe I mentioned it in the unboxing video where you received this Episode, but in case I didn't, this game is Christmas-themed. Phew! Well, that's enough for now. Bye!
