At 14:10 you talk about deleting the overhang which makes sense because it would be difficult to finish the bottom of it, is that a call you just make in the field or do you go over it with the homeowner and convince them it just doesn’t make sense to build it as the plans were designed? Keep up the great work, enjoy every episode!
@JohnShalamskasАй бұрын
A very strong reason to delete the overhang is that it would attract all sorts of critters to build a nest there.

Loved the playing with shadows. Great to see how this is coming along. I was looking at the ingredients in the Beam dream powder and it has magnesium so if you take Synthroid for hypothyroid you can't take the dream powder within 4 hours of it as magnesium reduces the effectiveness of Synthroid. The melatonin and L-theanine in it are supposed to be good for sleep. Those are some complicated roof angles.

I'm sure Eric is already having a difficult time managing being, actually on the job, his wife, his kids, and then editing these videos. Plus all the stuff that just randomly comes up that needs to be solved, we all know about unforeseen issues that need addressing. Editing isn't really a fast process you have to watch the recordings to make sure it's what you want and then I'm sure he watches the video back to make sure it's what he wants it to be. Like do you think you could even juggle your job, your wife, and kids and keep them all happy. Then edit videos on top of that. Editing gets old after awhile so I'm perfectly happy with 25 to 30 minutes. Adding even 10 minutes to the video I sure would add close to another hour for Eric which he clearly doesn't have being late to work and what not, know what I'm saying?
@dustynbeasley6261Ай бұрын
You can see it on his face even at the end of this video. You could tell he was tired of editing and still had to film that little outro shouting out Jay's commission discount and then upload that to the computer and edit that part in as well. Just an observation.

🛑 Those short rafters need steel brackets at the end to ensure they don’t fail at the connection point should someone walk across them closer to the edge or put any load on the end. The nails won’t cut it! The overhang is far too great for such short rafters. At 18:00 you show someone walking across but they are walking closer to the wall where there is more support from below.
@garygibson133Ай бұрын
The short rafters' overhang provides a significant lever arms. A 250lb person standing at the end of the rafter overhang probably exhibits 500+ lb of rotational/upward loading on short rafter - ledger connection. Archimedes “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

Birdsmouth for rafters, wikipedia explanation: "A rafter cutting is called a "bird's mouth" because the shape of the cut, with a small notch at the bottom and a wider opening at the top, resembles the open beak of a bird, creating a similar "perch-like" surface where the rafter sits on the wall's top plate; essentially, the cut functions like a bird's mouth would to grip onto something."
