The worst things someone can do to their body is to cut on salt and drink more water. Eat as much as you want, but only sea salt or himalayan salt. Sodium has nothing, nothing, to do with high blood pressure or heart problems.

Many thanks Dr Frita, I started reducing salt six months back, consuming natura foods only, plus at least 2 litres of water per day, less carbs intake, less meals per day, various exercises, 18/6 fasting , no processed foods, sugar, alcohol, soda and processed juices . My blood pressure is coming down from 220/100 to 150/ 87, body weight dropped from 98 kilograms to 76, cases to bathroom at night dropped from 8 to 2 trips. At my age of 67 years, my height of 1.94 metres I feel and I will continue with my life style to keep my health.

I've noticed over time that alot of vegetarian food options whether it was at a vegetarian restaurant or vegetarian grocery foods were either extremely high or somewhat higher in sodium. So although it might be meatless the sodium content makes it off limits for those with hbp. Keep that in mind.

Reading the labels at the grocery store has been a life saver for me where sodium is concerned. I'm stunned by the high amount that are in pre-packaged frozen food especially veggies. I always now ask for low-salt or lower sodium meats at the deli. I no longer buy the pre-packed meat but it's a challenge for dieting because my work hours are so long and I don't want to make dinner when I get home because I'll put on more weight. This is still a helpful reminder because you can get also get dehydrated from too much sodium which can lead to kidney stones like it did for me.

Seasoning does not have to mean SALT!!!! Think of alternatives wine, herbs, flavored vinegar, learn to appreciate what onion and properly prepared garlic can do for your food. Go down this path and you will find that in the past you acquired a taste for salt and after changing your cooking habits you will find you really do not like all that salt. The same thing applies with sugar. Our culture over uses salt and sugar.

I had a blood pressure scare about 3 weeks ago. It turned out to be a false reading - I have a blood pressure machine at home which runs only on batteries. Previous to this, I cut out caffeine in order to reduce my BP. I started monitoring myself, and my BP went UP for about a week until it said 224/100! I went to my doctor and he said to toss that machine and get one that uses AC power instead. Big difference, like 50 points! The AC power machine read about the same as when the doctor took my BP in his office. But I decided to track and reduce my sodium intake anyway. WOW! I've lost 10 pounds in about 2 weeks (mostly water, I'm sure, but I'm counting it!). My BP has gone down steadily, and I get up way less at night to use the bathroom,

Thanks for sharing. I love your video because I am a very picky eater or let's say I tried to make better choice with food. I eat 2 small meals a day sometimes I fast.I made sure to have protein in my diets. I am feeling much better and lost the weight I gained during lock down. I want to go back to 120 lbs.I have 1 lb to go and I'm an exercise freak and swim daily it's my lifestyle. I see so many decease caused by obesity I don't understand why one let him/herself go out of control with food? ? It's like an addiction and very difficult to stop even they have health issues.

From my experience dealing with food I used to have a lot of trouble dealing with the salt intake i was a complete Savage when i was younger and ate way too much sodium like Chilli Dogs with Dorito Chips,Corn Dogs with Fries,Pizza with Onion Rings, fried chicken with spaghetti and roman noodles all the time. But then as i got older my late grandma lecturing me about eating healthy and start getting your life together and made me understand that yes you lost your mom i get it you are sad and grieving over her lost but you are not alone in this because you still got your family and people who really love you. So she put me on a diet and also my late aunt started cooking healthier foods and because of their motivation to get myself right i Begin to exercise at the park while i was meeting new people. And thats when i found my church family and they helped strengthening my faith in God and i kept my heart, mind, body and soul on the positives and it made me realize is that yes life can be hard but you gotta do whatever it takes to move on just to have peace and have the will power to stay happy, alive and witnessed another day to give the Lord the Praise.

Thank you especially for mentioning fried chicken. Now people who cook it every Sunday may understand why they are so sick. In addition to all the weight it can pack on you, it can also cause hypertension. Please also note the calories contained in cheese. That's why macaroni and cheese is not a wise food choice, or at least eat on small portion.very rarely.

@@DrFrita I cant speak for anyone else, but I don't have issues with high blood pressure because I put a pench of celtic sea salt or pink Himalayas salt on my tongue every other day. I was told by a doctor that your cells need salt and water to live. One of the reasons your pressure is up because your body isn't getting the salt it needs. I do agree with your video that most people get to much of the bad salts. But you need a little bit of to keep you from getting HBP. It's been working for me.
