I think about this when I'm on the bus just relaxing and everybody is on their phone. It's scientifically proven that it's hugely important to give ourselves brain breaks. I'm 32 so I haven't been used to technology on the go all my life, but man I think people stress out their minds with it sometimes - I need those slow waves, I need not to be entertained or informed at all times
@kichapi2 жыл бұрын
I agree with this. We don't have to fill every minute of our lives with short phone breaks. Some of my family members are like this - they're preoccupied 24/7, yet they are still bored. We can also observe what's around us and give our eyes and minds some rest.
@larkfly92732 жыл бұрын
@@kichapi Thanks. I find it very interesting that you write that they are preoccupied, yet bored. That's saying something. And yes, exactly - we can observe and give ourselves the opportunity to realize, see, flirt, be surprised - a bit more 90's vibe :)

My city is in lockdown, we have been quarantined for a while at home. when I can only stay at home and with limited food and goods ( no delivery allowed), then i started to notice many things around me. I noticed that I can grow many vegetables with their roots, i can cook delicious food with recipes that I've never wanted to try, and I found things in lockers in wardrobes that have been forgotten. live in a conscious life brings life more possibilities. I am kind of enjoying the current quarantine situation when others are struggling with it.

Hi! So does that mean to let go of the life you have planned in your mind, then the life you had planned in your mind will flow to you? Or let go of your desires, then theyll come to you? Or is it both🥰. Thank You.
@narzon12 жыл бұрын
@@crystaldreams3978The life you had planned is not always the life that evolves. At some point you need to let go of the past to embrase the present and what the future brings. Thank you for the little mention that convenience can be a necessity/hugely important to disabled people. An interesting video to watch as a disabled person (I have autism, ADHD, and a learning disability). It gets me thinking about the conveniences I need vs the conveniences that I don't need. Some conveniences I need because it means I get to spend less energy on a task, so I have that extra energy to spend on more important tasks. Sometimes though, I want convenience for the sake of wanting to get a task done. I'll have to see where this takes me. Thank you.

Loved this vlog! I've been on the planet awhile, and as I've aged I've seen life speeding up all around me. I agree, convenience comes at a cost. A wise, woman once said to me: when you find yourself waiting (at a doctor's office, at a red light, in an airport) be aware of your attitude. Say to yourself "I'm grateful for this break, for this time to be with myself." I use this attitude re-adjustment all the time - it works so well, even when I'm very tired.

I'm so impressed at how succinctly you articulate these ideas (convenience is not the answer), I myself have been struggling to put these same ideas to words. I used to be single-mindedly focused on my work years ago, since then I've learned to cook , learned to forage, broadened my interests far beyond the one thing I used to care about. What I've realized is that all of that streamlining I did was really just choosing to be ignorant of the complexity of the world. You also mentioned briefly that oftentimes our convenience is built on someone else's inconvenience, which is itself an important topic I think. A while back I read a report on labor in the shrimp industry, and how certain parts of the industry rely on slave labor. Suicide among farmers in India and other areas around the world is also a shocking topic. I don't know what exactly to do about it yet, but this information doesn't sit well with me. Choosing to think about it is a good start, I'm certain the content you're producing here is helping others think twice about how they want to be in the world. Glad I found this channel.

The last years I've been on full force speed. I currently stand on the slower lifestyle as well. It gives my life more meaning and more room to pray, think and breathe. I personally will not remember my hard working days first, when I lay in my death bed. It's going to be the many small and big great moments in live apart from the hustle and bustle of being busy, overworked and "always on". I wish I could be in Hawaii right now. Berlin is toooo hectic for me right now :D

I'll have to check out that book. I used to resent chores and fantasize about a maid/cook/assistant, etc. But the more I've simplified my life, the more joy I find in tending to these things myself. It's been really surprising. I'm still working on getting a handle on things, but I'm trying. :-)
