Gundam fanboy here. Here's some lore for those who might be interested. Gundam contains basically 2 timeline schemes. UC (Universal Century) has been the original and longest timeline since 1979. Most series in this timeline will contain (00 than a year like 0079, 0083, 0096) The other type of timeline is AU. These are alternate timelines like for example, C.E. (cosmic era) These usually just have their name like Gundam seed or Witch from Mercury. These only last around 2 seasons, so it's better for newer fans. The RX-78-2 Gundam is its military designation. R-( JP for Federation) X-(Prototype) 78-(design year) 2-(Second unit out of the 7 originals) Don't know why the video included Amuros' adult stats when they use his kid stats in the fight. That's why it said he was 29 instead of 16. Don't know why they said the date was 2079 when UC starts at 2045 - UC 0001.

@vito6197 Well, it makes sense as the RX-78-2 is one of the weakest gundams in the UC timeline. The mobile suit is not bad at all, but later in the timeline, there are extremely overpowered gundams like the RX-93 Nu and RX-0 Unicorn. I honestly thought Amuro in the RX-78-2 gundam would die faster.

If I had to guess it's the gundam fan in me picking up the minor details that ended up souring it for me. Sure I knew going In Amuro was fucked, they put him as an Adult in the original fucking gundam for fucks sake a machine that literally could not keep up with him as a pilot that became outdated a decade before hand. Do you know how much cooler it would have been if Amuro was in the Nu gundam? It wouldn't have changed the end result but it would have been way fucking cooler. (The only Gundam that could have even came close to changing the outcome is the Turn A and thats from way way way into the future) I guess the Gundam fan in me is disappointed. And the Transformers fan in me is disappointed Optimus used the damn Matrix on a normal fucking soldier and acted so... out of character I guess?

I'm sure they wanted to grab the original protagonists from each series, but this outcome is too obvious. It's not even worth debating. I feel like it would be a lot more interesting if they put Optimus up against Wing Gundam or Freedom Gundam. Maybe the Bayverse Optimus could have a fun fight in this scenario. Honestly I'm not sure which version of Optimus they're using or if they're just combining them all. It seems like they rarely stick to one continuity. For me a decent Death Battles should have two fighters that are similar in potential or are relatively unknown. It sparks up conversation and can help us consider things we may have overlooked. In this case there's nothing to consider. Most if not all versions of Optimus win easily.
