The flour scraper thingie that I got from my Dollar Tree is 100% metal and is one solid piece that is flat and then rolls into a curve for the handle. No plastic to break. No separate piece for the dishwater to get caught in. I love it :-) Thanks for another bread recipe! Yum!

So I tried this recipe. I am not a new bread baker, nor am I an expert. I know my way around the kitchen perfectly fine. I used the exact measurements knowing you'll have to deal with the amount of flour. Well, in my humble opinion, unless you have the long bread pans, the dough is too much for the normal shorter loaf pans. My bread was more white than brown, even though I let it cook 10 more minutes to get the golden color. The texture of the bread is fairly dense, but not bad. I am not going to cast this recipe away, but I am going to only make 1 loaf with 3 cup flour and find a longer bread pan. The taste is pretty good. I gave away 3 loaves and hope to hear back more. Oatmeal Bread Ingredients * 2 3/4 cups warm water * 1/4 cup melted butter * 4 tsp. yeast * 1/4 cup powdered milk * 1/2 cup brown sugar * 8 cups flour * 1 1/3 cups oatmeal (rolled or quick oats) * 1 TBSP salt Directions 1. Add warm water, butter, milk, sugar, yeast through the sugar to the mixer of your choice and let it sit for 5 minutes. 2. Add oats, flour, salt and knead until combined. (10 minutes) 3. Let it rise in an oiled bowl until doubled in size. (30 min-1 1/2 hours) 4. Form into bread loaves and place into 2 greased loaf pans. 5. Let it rise for 20 minutes. 6. Bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes. (Maybe longer to get brown 7. Brush with melted butter

Have you ever made bread when the weather was nice enough to have the windows open? My grandmother used to make bread (& cinnamon rolls that would make Cinnabon envious) all the time. In the seasons when the windows could be open, all the neighbors would literally come begging for just a slice or 2. They seemed like poor people who had no eaten in days but they were all at east middle class. The smell of baking bread just drove them wild. Of course we had the advantage of just hanging around the kitchen so we could pounce on the bread & rolls as they came out of the oven. Yummmm!

I really enjoy your channel! I've been baking my own bread for about 35 years. I noticed the "split" in your loaves. If you were to let them rise in the bread pans until doubled and then bake them you most likely won't have the "split" in the crust! Either way, I'm sure they are super delicious. I also make an oatmeal "go to bread" that is very similiar.

This bread looks beautiful! :) Am keen to try it as I have wanted a good sandwich loaf recipe that can be baked in this shape, good for toasting, sandwiches etc like you said. The texture looked really lovely when you cut into it so am keen to give this one a go soon. Really enjoy making bread of all kinds, very therapeutic especially right now, so am glad you have a passion for this as well, thank you! :) Would love to see perhaps some savoury options to have with dinner, such as herb bread or garlic bread. Am sure you could adapt one of your recipes to do this but feel you would be better equipped to know how to do this than what I might come up with, so if you could do this sometime that would be great! Thanks :) Oh and btw, thank you so much for having links that lead to a nice simple clean page, not cluttered up with a million ads being loaded and jumping around all over the place making your eyes go funny, this is so refreshing! I understand why people need this but am very grateful that you don't do that. :)

The flour scraper from the dollar store is pretty great. I had bought an identical one at William Sonoma for like $8 a week prior to finding the cheaper option. I’ve had it for over a year and no rust and is of very similar quality to the more expensive one. Can’t beat it for $1. I also use it as a bench scraper when I’m moving lots of chopped vegetables to the stove.

Christine, these look SO good!! Who could resist homemade bread!!! Can you tell me approximately how many servings (slices) do you get from one loaf? I'm following Weight Watchers & knowing that will help me figure out the points per slice. After I watched this episode, I was ready to run to the kitchen & start cooking everything in this video. I laughed when you said you could substitute the brownies in the trifle with Brownie Bites. My daughter loves ice cream & also loves brownie sundaes. Earlier this summer she wanted a brownie sundae & we didn't have any brownies, but we did have some Brownie Bites, so we put some of those in the bottom of the bowl & added the ice cream & hot fudge topping. I, of course had to have a small bowl of my own & it was really very tasty. So keep those Brownie Bitese on hand for quick desserts!!

Next time you have a bbq you can make some flatbread bowls....put a metal mixing bowl upside down onto the bbq and let it get hot,you can spray it with oil if you want....roll out your bread dough to a flatbread size and then just place it carefully onto the bowl and let it cook through the bread will set into a bowl shape ready to be filled with whatever you want....this is legit to good to not do

Just mix the ingredients in a large bowl as she did in the Bosch and once th dry ingredients have been added mix with your hand to combine then knead it a bit in the bowl until the sides are clean, I’d then tip it out and knead more on a clean dry surface for about 10-15 mins, it shouldn’t stick and you don’t want to be Adding more flour if you can avoid it.

I've been watching your channel for a week or so, and this is the first of your recipes I've tried. It is PHENOMENAL! Thank you! I've been wanting to switch to making homemade bread all the time instead of buying it, but there's a store-bought loaf my family really loves. This bread was great enough that I think I can give up the other one, haha. I used two cups whole wheat and all purpose flour for the rest. How do you freeze your bread? Do you slice it first or freeze it whole? I've been thinking of wrapping the loaf in plastic wrap to protect it from air/freezer burn instead of putting it in a bread bag. I'd love your input on this! I've frozen store-bought bread, but not homemade bread. Some types end up getting soggy when they thaw, while others don't, and I'm not sure why. Thanks in advance! Also, if you don't have a scraper, like myself, a large kitchen knife works just as well, for the cutting part, at least :)

For anyone looking for similar long narrow bread pans I recently got one from Aldi here in Australia, however I know this store is all over the world, and it cost me just $7.99 for a lovely ceramic pan which I thought was a great price. It was from their 'Special Buy' deal about a fortnight ago but often if they don't have them out on display anymore you can ask one of the staff members and they will check out the back where they store previous sale items, so you could get lucky and still find some there, worth checking! Just wanted to ask how is it that these loaves rise so beautifully and get such a good colour without the need for being covered like the no knead bread? You certainly have perfected your skill as a baker, that's for sure! :) It only occurred to me later on after watching this video, but I remembered how important it was for the no knead bread to be covered with a lid to get the correct colour on top, but then noticed that you didn't need to do this for this bread even though you didn't seem to knead this bread either, so just wanted to ask so I can understand the difference between the two.
