Hi new subscriber here. I have bought a bmw g650gs 2012 model that shares a lot with the bmw f650gs especially the engine. I have used your guidance on spark plug change oil and filter change and I'll be attempting coolant change soon. Thanks Andrew from Ireland 🇮🇪

Hi I tried replacing the radiator fluid on my g650gs and I opened the bleeder valve but I don’t have any anti freeze coming out even after I fill the radiator
@TechnMoto3 жыл бұрын
You have to fill it until it leaks out of the bleeder. Keep adding fluid. Remove the bleeder screw
@emiledevilliers9482 жыл бұрын
Mine do same. No water... If started only lot of steam.

Hi TM, Thanks for the video! Very helpful. I followed the instructions but after taking out bladder screw and putting coolant it doesn’t leak out. Would you know why? Please help. Thank you!!
@TechnMoto3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand. you change the coolant but can't get the bleeder to bleed air? have you checked the bleeder screw to see if it clogged? Did you run the engine long enough to cycle the coolant?
@carlo22743 жыл бұрын
@@TechnMoto Thanks for the reply. So i did the following steps: 1.Took out bottom screw to drain old coolant. 2. Removed the hose clamp to take out the rest of coolant including over flow. 3.Tighten screws and clamp/ hose 4. Removed bleeder screw. 5. Poured new coolant but it doesn’t come out on the other end. Thank you

@@carlo2274 fluid should leak out from there as you put coolant into the system. check the hole see if it is clogged. there could be a clog in the system some where. remove bleed screw in cylinder head. Fill the radiator until coolant escapes at the bleed screw; **repeatedly squeeze the coolant hoses to expel the air. Tighten bleed screw Top up coolant until the level reaches the top of the filler neck (arrow). Top up expansion tank to the MAX mark. Once the system is all set run the engine to cycle the coolant and remove any air left in the system. check coolant level and top off as needed.

Hey Techn, a question for ya, Under what circumstance do you need to change out the coolant? Does it break down like motor oil over time and use? Also, I liked the subscribe but affect.
@TechnMoto4 жыл бұрын
Well since I just bought this used bike last winter and have no history on it, I am going through it to make sure everything is good. As far changing fluids I would recommend going by the manufacturers recommendations. Yes, coolant does break down over time and can cause issues with water pumps and thermostats. In general, coolants degrade over time as the ethylene glycol breaks down into primarily glycolic and formic acids. Once a coolant has degraded, due to glycol breakdown and pH drops, engine metals are at risk for corrosion. Used to be a general rule many years ago to change out coolant every 30 or 60k miles (on cars) but now a days the stuff lasts so much longer. According to BMW it states to check the coolant every two years on this bike but since we're talking very little coolant in the system I will just change it every two years instead. Just follow the manufacturer's suggested maintenance schedule, you can't go wrong doing that. Hope this was helpful.

hey TM, I recently bought one of these and attempted to change out old fluid, emptied all fluid out as shown no problem but upon refill no fluid wants to go back in; about a cup full maybe and it does not drain. Tried sqeezing the hoses and starting up a minute or so but no change. I assume it is the thermostat clogged? 10K on bike/just bought/old fluid was dirty. Any thoughts/suggestions thanks, Rick
@TechnMoto4 жыл бұрын
Rick did you open the bleeder screw? If you did you could have a bad thermostat or worst a clog somewhere. Try bleeding the system first.

@TechnMoto2 жыл бұрын

Good morning, my bmw is in trouble, I took it in a mechanic but he didn’t know how to diagnose the problem, when the engine heats up and turns on the fan it works for about 5 seconds and stops and turns it on the battery it runs well, already got some with problem like that?

Sorry would need to diagnose the bike issue. Haven’t come across that problem. Maybe someone else can help. Take it to another tech or the bmw dealership, just a thought.
