For anyone wondering about the stats. We polled a bunch of retail and etailer contacts and over the last 5 years the Hyper 212 series (but nostly the EVO) have outsold the closest competitor by a minimum 4:1 ratio and most of the time its closer to 7:1. Absolutely incredible. :O

I have a Hyper 212 Evo and Hyper 212 BE in my collection (for overclocking runs and various display/test builds) and I agree, the installation was a PITA but well worth the effort. I added a second fan to my 212 Evo and that helped substantially when clocking but even still, there is only so much a 4-heatpipe cooler can do. Cheers!

You missed one thing and it's during the ram part is the fact that you can actually Slide the fan up a little bit in order to make clearance for ramp you can move it up probably a couple centimeters

Installing a 212 Evo should be a mandatory experience for every PC builder. A right of passage if you wish. The 212 Black is doing a good job on my Ryzen 3600 and is better than the AMD Box cooler by a mile 😉👍

I've only had one AIO ever fail and that was caused by the faulty PSU. Killed more than just the AIO. Still use AIO's and have no anxiety at all. But they don't cost $30 to $40 either. If an AIO is that cheap, yeah I'd worry constantly. ; )

Rocking this CPU cooler right now on a Ryzen 7 5800x. You aren't kidding about that mounting kit. When I saw the mounting clips fall off with the fan, it brought back trauma. BUT, when it is finished and you fire it up and you see your temps, you'll be SO MUCH happier that you did.

The crazy thing about this cooler is that the Evo is already an iteration itself, even back in the C2D/Q days the original Hyper 212 was showing up the other coolers. This thing was around long before we sang the praises of the likes of Noctua and Scythe and BeQuiet back when Arctic was still sitting at the top of the pile except for that one really chunky tower either Thermaltake or Thermalright made. It has outlasted multiple CPU generations and sockets. This thing has been around longer than some of the people reading this comment and yet it remains viable after tiny iterations generation after generation.

You used the word chooch.. You are of my people :D I bought a Hyper 212 EVO about 2-3 years ago. Best $25 I ever spent on a cooler. It dropped my noise level down from annoying as hell with an in the box heat sink for my AMD FX 8320 Black edition 120 watt space heater.. err.. processor, but actually ended up dissipating heat too well.. Now my office get's mega hot due to it. I found this video because I want to re-use the 212 Evo in my new build i'm waiting on to ship (Ryzen 5 5600X) and with what your saying coupled with the fact that the 5600X is 65 watt compared to my old 120 watt chip, it'll chooch! Thanks man! Even with my 120 watt chip and it is dynamic overclocked, the fan never really gets loud. I absolutely HATED the install process (I have been dreading it when my new mobo/proc/mem comes in) but in the end, especially since I already have it, it makes it worth the hassel. I have been thinking about replacing the fan, just to what.. I don't want a fan that costs the same as a better cooler because what would be the point in that. Some RGB is nice though.. If anyone has any cheap fan recommendations let me know!

Running a 212 Evo with a Noctua fan swapped on my Ryzen 5800X. I didn't like the ramping up noise level of the stock fan so I put a much quieter Noctua fan on there even though it actually raised my temps by 2-3 degrees! It still runs cool enough and holds good turbo speeds on all core rendering loads yet is now whisper quiet. Still recommend the 212 though for most people it's fine I just wanted my PC to be as quiet as possible and am extra picky with noise.

My older PC still rocks this exact cooler (i5 2500 stock frequency) and it's crazy to see the very good temperatures. For the new build I'm working on (R5 5600X) I really considered the updated RGB or black versions, but the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240mm AIO was very decently priced, that convinced me to go AIO watercooling. Can't wait to get all the final parts for this PC to build.

Also if you have an issue with the fan with the plastic clips, you can change the fan out with pretty much any 120mm fan. Just unscrew the clips from the fan and install your new fan.

Been wondering whether this is worth the upgrade from the Wraith box cooler I have. You're enthusiasm was the final sell I needed 😂 Cheers!

I bought a H212 EVO LED for 14€. It has the pushpin mounting so that is really easy to install.

I love my Evo v2. I had to upgrade to it because my 4 DIMMs of G.Skill Trident ram was so tall. So glad I did, dropped my temps almost 10 degrees on average.

I tried one of these once. The mounting bracket was a nightmare. I couldn't get it to mount without fearing crushing my CPU from the pressure. I went back to my trusty Hyper T4. I only recently replaced it for a Vetroo V5 as it has an RGB fan and 5 heat pipes for $35. And in another video, I saw it beat a 240 mm AIO at over $100, which was HUGELY impressive. I'm getting idle temps as low as 32 degrees F consistently.

I have Hyper 212 LED Turbo (with red led) cooling down my Ryzen 5 1600, really great performer for its price. But this specific edition of Hyper 212 comes with a catch. This cooler can only mounted horizontally with its stock am4 mounting kit (clip type) and in this orientation, my cooler can't exhaust the heat to outside the case as I use older style case with top mounted PSU and no top ventilation. so, in order to mount the cooler vertically, I made custom mounting bracket based off the included am3 mounting bracket from steel plate, but slightly longer to fit am4 mounting point and use the stock am4 back plate that comes with the motherboard+some plastic spacers and surprisingly it works.

I got myself a 212 Black edition for my rig. I don't have a super high end rig, but it keeps my Ryzen 2600X cooler than the stock cooler. Though when I put it into my Q300L, I was worried about clearance. It works but it's a tight squeeze lol. And I was able to get it on sale for 30 or 35. I like the fact this cooler is good for budget builds and is still inexpensive. Edit: also I got a cooler that's similar called a Vetroo V5 cooler from Amazon. I got it for my brother in laws build (for mid-range work/gaming). It works pretty well. You should check that out. It was easy to install, but it has the wire holder type installation for the fan.

i have the original hyper 212 (non evo??). it has fan mounting brackets that screws onto the top of the cooler. it's easily 10+ years old and i'm still using it today on a old socket 775 system. keeping a 120w xeon cpu under 40C. fantastic cooler.
