hey sarah, thank you for making this video! not sure if you've done this before, but would you consider making a video about making the transition from blogs to other forms of copy, like email or sales pages? i feel a bit stranded in the land of blog posts. i keep sending cold emails related to other types of copy, but sadly, i'm only getting responses for blogs. p.s. i've been listening to older episodes inner archeology lately and I love it! you cover such fascinating topics :)

Also make sure you're clearly communicating the value of other forms of copy in your conversations and pitches. It may just take some time, so keep trying!

It’s great to see you in a new video. Most of your suggested videos I watched are like 3-4 years old. You’re as gorgeous as ever ❤ One question, have you read either breakthrough advertising or the breakthrough brilliance by Eugene Schwartz? Those books highly recommended by seemingly most copywriters, but they are very rare and very expensive. You can’t even find them in stores. Fortunately, I found both on a Reddit like site.

This is such great info. You mention reaching out to busy copywriters in several of your videos, but you never mention how to do this. I know you say to stay away from places like Fiver and Upwork, as newbie copywriters, so how would we reach out to experienced copywriters to avoid those other job boards?

You can find copywriters many different ways including Facebook groups and Googling them. You can treat this like a cold email where you email them making sure to lead with value.

Hey, Sarah. I've began handcopying over a month ago but I find I can't do more than about 20 minutes at a time because I start to feel pain in my wrist. I guess carpal tunnel.... I KNOW what you're saying makes sense -- to hand write it -- it's how I learned everything in undergrad and grad school: the more difficult concepts, I wrote them over and over and over and learned it. My body is in it's 50's now... I guess not as nimble as I used to be. Is there ANY way I can get a pass on this writing by hand in order to save the nerves in my wrists? Is there ANY other option for me?

While handcopying is definitely a great technique and extremely helpful, if you can’t do it, that’s totally okay! Find other techniques that may work best for you. Maybe re-reading something repeatedly? Or possibly listening to copywriting podcasts and watching more copywriting videos. Do what feels right for you and what works for you! 🤗 You’ve got this!

How does one compete with AI? It's getting super versatile, and can write a short story based on just a few words; usually for free. How does an aspiring copywriter compete with that?

I totally understand your concerns. I don't see AI tools being able to replace copywriters the way I teach copywriting. And I think that's an important distinction to make. I teach my students how to be so much more than copywriters. They become marketing strategists. And those are not going to be replaced anytime soon. I also show my students how to go after high-end clients. These clients are too busy running their businesses to write their own copy. Which means they're also too busy to learn how to use AI programs to create their own copy. Keep in mind, this career is always about increasing your skill set and staying adaptable. Because the world of digital marketing has always been shifting. This is just yet another example of how that happens.
