I finally got the TEC and installed together with a i9 13900, however, I have a feeling that something is wrong. I have been very careful during the install and followed the instruction to the letter. When idling in Cryo-mode the avg. temp. is 15-19 deg. I have 2x 360x30mm rad one with Phanteks T30(3000 rpm) and one with Noctus NF-A12x25(2000 rpm) and a D5 pump from EKWB. One note is that I used Thermal Grizzly's Cryonaut Extreme instead of the factory provided. The TEC is fastened all the way down and not spring loaded as the should be - If I loosen the bolts the temp will rise, which indicates that there may be some issues with the connection between TEC and IHS. Another note is that I'm using Thermal Grizzly's contact frame. Mobo: ASUS rog strix z790-e with 2x16 GB Corsair Dominator 7.000 MT/s BIOS is set to enforce all limits and NO overclock is done, beside XMP1. The question is really - what idle-temps can I expect from the different modes? When playing Warzone(ULTRA all settings) the CPU/package is 95-100 deg??? This can't be happening! I have a ASUS rog strix RTX 4090 OC 24GB
@SkatterBencher

What is the CPU Package power usage during warzone? If it's 253W or higher, then 90-100C sounds correct because that's the limit of the TEC

I am having the exact same problem but in my case I have the springs in place. And if I am cinsero with my other normal aguara block it had better temperatures than with this TEC Delta2. I think it is a bad contact also with the IHS. In my opinion, I am not satisfied with the results.

Just curious.. I’m about to purchase components for a new build tomorrow. Is the Ks worth it over the 13900k? I see 6ghz happening on the regular K and just curious which way i should go. Not really worried about the cost difference. Thanks in advance!

Delta TEC is not designed for ALL CORE MAX frequency under heavy load, but it's intended for a lighter load like gaming and ONE CORE MAX boost. The TEC is not suitable for benchmarking with software like Prime95 which heavily loads all cores on the CPU.

Hi, did you have any compatibility issues placing the peltier in Z790 apex? I plan to use that board for the next build so would be interested if any modding is needed. Kind regards
@SkatterBencher
@SkatterBencher Жыл бұрын
I used the Z790 Apex without the VRM thermal for my test, so I didn't have the compatibility issues. For the ICC'23 livestream (kzbin.info/www/bejne/raSyiZZqgKqkgac), the EK Attila made the necessary modifications to the rubber gasket to make it fit. I didn't look into the exact modification, but seems like modification is necessary.

How is the TEC controlled and which parameters? I know it is connected via fans and pump, but does the TEC software regulate on those. Furthermore, would a temp probe connected on the MOBO not be a good idea. I’m sure that I’ve read somewhere in the source material that the fans should run fixed rpm? Does cooling loops benefit from running full load on the pump all the time?
@SkatterBencher
@SkatterBencher Жыл бұрын
TEC is controlled by the hardware controller included in the EK Delta2 TEC package and the Intel Cryo Cooling software. For more information on the specifics on the function, I'd refer you to their respective website

Hi, did you use the rubber gasket? I can't fit mine to the Z790 board and it doesn't make contact with the IHS. I am contemplating using it without the rubber gasket but it's risky for condensation.
@SkatterBencher

For this guide, I used the board without VRM thermal solution, so the gasket fitted nicely. However, I did see other people with similar issues on the Apex board. On my 6.7G 13900K Apex board I had the VRM thermal, but Attila from EKWB helped modify the gasket so it would fit. Have you tried reaching out to him?

what happens when package power goes above 280W? Is it still more effective then a normal waterblock?
@SkatterBencher
@SkatterBencher 2 жыл бұрын
Over 280W the CPU will thermal throttle down to a manageable frequency. Regular high-performance water blocks will perform better than TEC at extreme power, but TEC will perform better at medium to high power
@ameerkhan3257
@ameerkhan3257 2 жыл бұрын
@@SkatterBencher so if overclocking for all core performace, direct die cooling would still be better then the TEC? I mean at that point, wouldn't you be able to get a higher normal use oc with either direct die cooling, or a standard water block? Sure the temps would be higher in mid to high power loads, but not to the point of throttling.

Thanks for sharing. I guess congrats on making a boosted benchmarking machine? that probably wont set any records and is really not very useful other than to say hey look at this pretty neat. and it is neat. its just way over complex to achieve desired results for what is effectively a non usable system for many if not all people. i guess for light web browsing the 6.5ghz might be nice? But testing stability on something like this is a nightmare and would take way to long and even then its only a guess as if its stable or not. i guess you could stabilize with reducing temps at each boost lvl to ensure stability but that could have negative effects on clocks. also the cpu is so limited by its cache/latency in many things this extra clock speed has very little real world uses like gaming or even video editing. put simply its all show with out the go. why? well because for starters almost anytime the ring is active its going to be talking to more than just 2 cores and boost will likely very rarely see any 6.5ghz boosting time. same with e cores enabled if the OS decides to use them it will lower the ring. The whole idea of e cores is just a waste of silicon other than marketing to help sell while saving a buck while ensuring customers dont get too much usable performance so they still have to upgrade sooner than later. I went with the 12900k on release because amd was no were close to releasing the 5800x3d. and i feel that was the right call. but make no mistake by the time the 5800x3d was release it was already reaching EOL. as the new 7000 series was just months away. the whole thing just stinks like rotten eggs in a manner of speaking lol. I love the idea of using a peltier for more performance but maybe a all p core or even all p + e core results would have been more interesting than the dynamic boost setup for regular use cases. But i guess thats pretty much a nothing burger too since scaling pretty much is non existent over 5.3ghz.
