So many famous rock musicians have passed....But Chris' passing made a grown man (me) cry. As a singer myself, he taught me so much about breathing techniques and true musicianship when I was a teenager. My wife is sick of me getting teary eyed while talking about his passing. But to those who really felt his soul in his voice, you understand. Rest and fly high, brother in arms.

They did the same thing to Michael Hutchence. It breaks my heart, I will never get over it, you are welcome to come to my club on FB. It's called Chris Cornell Fanclub.

Chris wrote this song for his best friend & roommate, Andy Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone, after he died suddenly & unexpectedly from an overdose in '90. By writing "Say Hello to Heaven" & "Reach Down", Chris was able to channel his grief & mourn the loss of his friend. Horrible, horrible irony, we have to listen to his song now, to ease our pain, for Chris' untimely death. Gone too soon. #LoudLove #NobodySingsLikeYouAnymore #SayHelloToHeaven #BeforeWeDisappear

RIP Bobby & Chris... Curing depression: This is the cure that big pharma don't want u to know about! A bottle of this stuff sent through the mail is less then 30 bucks! Phenylalanine is available in three chemical forms: L-phenylalanine, the natural form of phenylalanine found in proteins throughout the body, D-phenylalanine, a mirror image of L-phenylalanine that is synthesized artificially, and DL-phenylalanine, a combination of the previous two forms. L-phenylalanine can be converted into L-tyrosine, a non-essential amino acid, which is in turn converted into L-DOPA. L-DOPA is a precursor for, norepinephrine (noradrenalin), and epinephrine (adrenaline). Small amounts of D & L Phenylalanine will cure depression! The only catch is U need to order D & L Phenylalanine from a real healthfood store. A bottle of this stuff sent through the mail is less then 30 bucks! Hope this helps someone U love - Godspeed from michael...

I can't believe he's gone. feels like a piece of my teenage years are gone. I just want to be 16 again when life was easy and I could sit in my room and listen to Soundgarden, Nirvana , pearl Jam, STP, Alice and Blind Melon. I miss those times so much. Everytime one of them passes I'm just reminded of how long ago the 90s are and that nobody will experience another time in music like that. wish I could personally say thank you to Chris, Layne, Shannon , Kurt and Scott.

I'm shocked. Dear Chris thanks for years of great music. 1/16/13 I'll never forget my first rock concert: Soundgarden. I waited for six hours that day during one of the coldest winters in the streets of Hell's Kitchen. It was totally worth it! Rock in heaven my friend and as long as live I'll pass down your music, so future generations appreciate your legacy. Farewell Chris.

He has a lot of soul in his voice that is genuine. It comes from a place in your mind that has a lot of feeling. He is able to express it, but it does take a toll on your emotions. It is a very personal thing to sing like this in front of strangers. Many musicians are introverts. Some are able to escape the venue and live within themselves during a performance. Some of them cannot and they sit up their dying inside. Chris is one of the greatest singers we have ever known. There is another. Look up Ann Wilson of Heart. They became friends. It was bound to happen. Their souls are much the same.

Please, mother mercy Take me from this place And the long-winded curses I hear in my head Words never listen And teachers, oh they never learn But im warm from the candle Though I feel too cold to burn He came from an island And he died from the street And he hurt so bad like a soul breakin' But he never said nothin' to me, yeah A'say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven, yeah New like a baby, lost like a prayer The sky was your playground And the cold ground was your bed Now poor Stargazer She's got no tears in her eyes New like a whisper She knows that love heals all wounds with time Now it seems like too much love is never enough Yeah, you better seek out another road 'Cause this one has ended abrupt, oh yeaa Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven, yeah I never wanted To write these words down for you With the pages of phrases Of all the things we'll never do So I blow out the candle and I put you to bed Since you can't say to me now How the dog broke your bone There's just one thing left to be said Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven Say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven, yeah

Another piece of my childhood is gone.. maybe it's little consolation, and not enough for someone who changed the way I look at the world.. but my entire online world is lighting up with his voice tonight.. and it's beautiful..

It's funny. My mum used to tell me Chris Cornell was my dad and I believed her for a while.. I always listened to his music (and still do). It's kind of bittersweet when I tell that story now because it brings up happy memories but the person involved is gone.

This performance is absolutely stunning. The song is amazing. Never heard such a strong voice to sound so damn different in the same song. He can sing sweet, calm, tender, hard, high, low, to change the notes so easy. His passion for music was above the skies...i guess he found that out up there. RIP GENIUS!

Our hearts mourn when a loved one departs, but with courage, we learn to accept their absence in our lives. In gratitude, we appreciate the time that was given. AND With Love, the memories are not forsaken. We must create new ones so we can smile again. That's not to say We ever really get over devastating loss. In the thick of it, we almost stop breathing; sometimes maybe wishing we could. We know deep within ourselves we'll never be the same. Yet, one day we feel the sun on our face again. We find ourselves smiling at a child, or joke, or memory. At that moment we realize we are finding our way back. Changed forever? Yes. But we are softer, deeper, more vulnerable & loving too. Breathing again.

I've been listening to so many tributes to Chris, then this came up in the sidebar. So fitting as this song is itself a tribute. Not gonna lie, the other tributes are amazing, but this proves again that no one ever can touch Chris. The rasp he developed over the years makes this rendition even more touching than the original recording.
