Awww big hugs and sorry for your loss. I only started watching it by chance one day. I was searching on YT and I found an episode from the 1970s and I started watching them. I know this might sound daft but they made me feel safe and reminded me of mum as she was a massive corrie fan and I only occasionally seen it in the 80s and 90s. I got hooked and I smile when I watch it because if she could see me now she would not believe it!

You have to feel sad for Martin's kid trapped inside Gail while she's constantly nagging, moaning and generally unpleasant, all's normal there then. Jack's motorbike rebuild story looked promising but the writers gave up on it. Plus it's weird seeing Mike and Ken on a sort of a reset. Now they are just in line with everyone else although it is fun watching Ken spinning slowly down the plughole. Massive continuity error at the beginning as Rita tells Emily that Harriet died even though she knows it already. 4:10:58 Gail is so discusting! 4:29:45 Wow! "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!"

Why is It, we only ever see Betty working in the Rovers Return. Every other character gets more. We see inside most of the character's homes and into all of their lives; their ups and downs, their relationships etc. But, with Betty, it's only ever little quips here and there, and her work behind the bar. 🤔

Well... Betty did arrive as a character in the late 60s so she has had her fair share of storylines over that period, originally she had a husband who was a policeman (Cyril Turpin) but he didn't last long before being killed off. But yes you're right, there is a distinct lack of character development where Betty's concerned, apart from her endless walk outs/resignations from the Rovers! ;-)

Apart from Emily there isnt a single person who i care about. The pub scenes are more realistic but watching young people drinking and behaving badly is not entertainment. This era has no gravitas.
