Thanks so much for uploading these older episodes - I totally agree with the other comments about how much better the writing was then - there was humour, drama and tears all wrapped up in amazing characters. Please please keep them coming … they’re fantastic 🥰🥰 Ps - it’s great the way you’ve batched the episodes in monthly blocks too!

Exactly. He rides roughshod over others ' feelings and always misjudges them - the way he judged how Vicky was behaving with Steve was a perfect example of this. He continuously disbelieves Bet and is always accusing her of lying. He never learns from his own poor behavior and enormous mistakes. At best he'll say "sorry IF I upset you." Such a horrid man.

He was a detestable piece of work who viewed everybody around him with contempt. As Bet would point out upon his return three years later, that he saw others as nothing more than opportunities to take advantage of. Only his love for Bet and Vicky made he somewhat bearable but the man who self-centered, arrogant and untrustworthy as we find out after he's left that he was fiddling the books leaving Bet shocked and humiliated when it came to light.

34:40 - Nicky Tilsley starts secondary school and who makes an appearance as his first 'big school' pal: Mark Redman, son of Mike Baldwin. But Mark was a full two years younger than Nicky, and if Corrie writers had good enough memories, was only born in 1983 - meaning he should (in 1992) still only be 9 years old, and not yet at secondary school! But they seem to have altered his age to hurry him into stories that will affect Mike and Ken, and continue the feud.

Thanks for sharing these videos. I watch nearly every day and Coronation Street was so powerful back then. I gave up on modern day Corrie a couple of months ago. Then the scene of him getting fined as in the next episode.

This gives (a somewhat) better understanding of what would transpire three years later when Bet upped and left. As an employee of "Newton & Ridley" it would have been unlikely that she saved up the money that they were asking for when they were selling the Rovers Return which was around 68000 pounds. For her to have cough up that amount, she would have to put away over 20000 pounds per year which even on a manager's salary would have been impossible. She might have applied for loan from the bank but whether she would have gotten enough is another question altogether. That said, the sale that Alec made when he sold the Rovers back to "Newton & Ridley". Surely Bet (as his wife) was entitled to some of that. But knowing Alec, it wouldn't surprise me if he kept the majority (if not) all of the funds from that sale.

Parents like Kimberlys should be banned from adopting kids! Poor Kim could have been a much more happier & gregarious person! And not a Victorian spinster! Curly must see that Kim will turn out just like her mother & he, after years of being ground down will be growing tomatoes in grow bags in his backyard! Lol He must have chucked Kim or vice versa as he later got engaged to Raquel, who dumped him just before their wedding to fly to The Philipines for a job! After that i dont know what Curleys love life! I stopped watching in 2000 when the vile Battersbys moved into the street By then Corrie was on its last legs & was boring & dismal! At least i have a few years to go on these oldies Ive enjoyed everyone of these Corries, Thank you to E.H.S. your hard work & dedication is greatly appreciated! ❤ Regards 🇬🇧👧

I disagree. Phillip Brooks just wanted what he and his wife were morally entitled to. Rita should have been more reasonable. At the very least she should have donated most of the cash to the hospice. Her greed was obvious. It wasn’t as if she was on the breadline or had any responsibilities.

@@chrissywales6575 I’m not sure about that. Rita had no intention of giving more. Her greed is obvious. Perhaps Philip Brooks could have been more tactful but he was entitled to more.

@@spartybrearly7221 Philip Brooks was exactly like Alan Bradley. Both those men hated Rita and wanted to make her life a living hell, Philip's spite was clearly the level to Alan. Rita would have been given the inheritance if it wasn't for the bad influence Philip clearly made out of himself.
