Ironing was done a lot when I was younger, it was artwork, like sewing. Now we have dryers that have wrinkle erase options. Remember most homes back then, like my childhood home, only had a washer. My mum put the washing on a line to dry. Then you ironed them. Materials have changed to erase the ironing option too.

These last few months is where Raquel changes personality into the dippy character we know her as - when she first appears, she was much more switched on and sensible.
@EveHenleySpread2 жыл бұрын
Yep I noticed that rewatching it recently, the person she is in her Bettabuys days when she briefly dates Curly, is completely worlds apart from the dippy character she eventually becomes behind the bar over the Rovers! Slightly incredible change in my view!

@@EveHenleySpread I was shocked when I first saw her because I only remembered her as being dippy….she was actually quite normal sounding when first around. Apparently, Lynne Perrie didn’t like working with Geoff Hinsliff. Even so, their onscreen chemistry is superb - two excellent actors !
@itallia666 Жыл бұрын
Apparently both Ivy & Don disliked each other on set & off. She, Lynne Perrie, got on very well with Bert ( Peter Dudley) so well & was very upset by his passing & wanted another actor to play her next love interest & hubby but the script writers wanted Geoff Hinscliff But as you said, Lynne & Geoff made it work on screen by their professional skills as actors I LOVED sweet Bert Tilsley, he loved the very bones of Ivy & understood her & was of her faith too. Im not a religious person but i think someone with such a strong faith like Ivy should have tried to find a chap of her own faith I liked her previous boyfriend to horrible Don, that George who was Mike Baldwins Van driver at the factory! Poor Ivy got on so well with George but alas, he wasnt a widower as he claimed but a divorcee & for Ivy it was unfortunately no go. Shame ☹ Don is such a creep! A liar, cheat, Manipulative & pretty aggressive too, always stirring up trouble! Ivy must have been blind or desparate cos she was just lonely Oddly i was married to a Catholic from a staunch Roman Catholic family, yet i was immediately accepted by them, they were so lovely & never once sided with my husband against me. Sad, but we were only married for 4 years & did have one daughter I was happy on my own bringing up my girl & living near my parents, a long way from my ex & his family but we always ( his family) kept in contact My ex remarried over 38 years ago yet my ex's family never accepted his new wife even to this day! I got on brilliant with her ( my ex's wife) she was much more his type & we used to laugh our heads off when i picked up my daughter from her dads & his wife We used to say he was rather miffed that we werent enemies!! Typical men! but we hit it off from the word go ( & still do! 😆) Yet im still introduced by my ex's family as the daughter in law & my ex's super wife only by her christian name. Catholic families stick very close to their religious rules Not that i resent them & neither does my ex's wife But.. 4 years with me, & 38 years with wife 2, but im still their daughter in law!? I hope Ivy gets rid of boring thuggish Donnnn.... But since ive glimpsed future episode photos, Donnnn still appears, stoney faced & obnoxious! Did he lose his leg in this car crash? Im sure i heard during part of a future episode that he had a wooden leg! A wooden leg in the late 1990s ?? Surely they had prosthetics by then? Wooden legs went out with Pirates of the Caribbean? Maybe it was some private joke? Ahh, whatever! I wish Ivy gets her ideal man! Ahb but wait! Didnt Lynne Perrie end up leaving Corrie under a cloud? I know she underwent facial plastic surgery ( which was a damn fine job & took away her puffy cheeks, opened up her eyes & sculpted her face very well & knocked 20 yrs off her) The storywriters didnt like it when she didnt ask their permission to undergo the surgery ( the gaul of them!) However it was when Lynne turned up on set with Bee Stung lips via surgery, she refused to reverse it when they asked her to!!! ( id have knocked their blocks off cheeky monkeys!) The national newspapers had poor Lynne on the front page with her " Mick Jagged" lips The producers of Corrie sacked Lynne! I actually saw Lynne talking in a documentary about Corrie from about 15yrs ago She had bobbed, straight, platinum blonde hair & still had her cushion lips but seemed to slur her words & looked sort of rigid like a dummy She may have over quaffed one too many or may have suffered a stroke which i think is correct due to her rigidity & kinda talking from the side of her mouth?? Ah well, i had NOT intended to write a tome, so im finishing here God be with good old Ivy, here or beyond since most of that ultra brilliant set of actors from the golden days of Corrie are all in that cobble street in the clouds Rock On Ivy! I came to know you so well & liked you!! Best wishes 🇬🇧👧

I'm no fan of Ted "Sir Lancelot" Sullivan, but Alf Roberts was such a blabbing buffoon after agreeing to say nothing of Ted's illness, then going straight to Reg Holdsworth and give him a garbled explanation about it. He should have just kept his mouth shut, and let Reg think whatever he liked. I know Audrey broke her promise to Rita, but it was understandable on this occasion, as Ted was being wrongly maligned by far too many people, who were listening to false gossip, mostly caused by jealous Reg.

The Bettabuys/Curly storylines are the worst. Curly was a much better character when he was young and lodging with Emily.

So hang on… What kind of state was Ted in and what was he doing, sleeping or incarcerated at Rita’s clutching his head in agony again, while she was getting pissed on fizzy plonk and scoffing strawberries and cream in the shop with Audrey & Liz 🍓 🥛 🎾 then she orders them back to hers!

3:48:35 been meaning to comment on Jim using words like wee bonny and accent is more Scottish,,, he shouldn't be portrayed as Irish as being Irish means you are a citizen of Irish Republic Northern Ireland is under British rule therefore the citizens are really British under commonwealth rules unlike southern Ireland which is ruled by a president taosish ,,
