You really can't judge the acceleration of the car yet as it has no air restrictors und fuel flow limits and what not yet. When the new Aston Martin GT3 made it's debut in the feature Aston Martin race in lemans the GT3 car did faster laps then the GTE'S because it was not restricted yet and had way more power then it has under any BOP.

Nigel Dean liter bikes typically rev to 13,000 - 14,000 rpm. Torque at 13,000 rpm is essentially multiplied by 2.5 (2.48x). ie, 80 ft lbs = 200hp. This thing won’t get close. It’s more like a NASCAR engine.

I think I will be missing seeing the C7.R. And I know that I will miss seeing Jan Magnussen driving the Corvette #3. Apparently Corvette management has decided his passport is the wrong one, so he is out and it even supposed to be against what the team wants. That is not a proper way to do things :-( Jan even had a hand in developing the C8.R and it is just a crime if he really is out.

I am hoping Jan may get to be 3rd driver so he'll drive Daytona, Le Mans and so, but more likely he will be going free lance. On the plus side it make it easier for him and his son, Kevin Magnussen, to do a race together - I could see them perhaps drive Daytona together as that is before the F1 season starts.

Too bad the audio was so poor but you can still tell that this isn't a LT engine. The higher pitch and revving definitely sounds like a flat plane and if it is a 5.5 liter, that is still a decent amount of cubes and add boost to that and it should scream. I think that Chevrolet decided to not only to start from scratch with the new mid engine design but decided to go with an all new powerplant as well, at least for the higher performance versions of the new C8. I've always liked Corvettes but really was never a crazy fan of them with the exception of the 67 427, 435 hp one and that dual overhead cam one that they produced one year in the 80s I think. It wasnt till the C7s came out that I was really to the point where I really wanted one but now I am really drooling over them, even with the LT version, I'd love to have one of these C8s. The only thing left and I was hoping that the C8 would have been revealed with, was an all wheel drive, and I'm hoping at some point they will come out with an all wheel drive Corvette. I'm really curious to see how well these new C8s do against the competition.

Let's see how well it does in the GTE Pro Series in the 24hr of Le Mans! That's the ultimate proving grounds for Chevy as in that class they have not beaten Ford, Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin. I'm very curious what new changes the Ford GT has but their new specs will come out soon!

C5.R won that class at LeMans 3 times and the C7.R won it 4 times against all of the cars you mentioned. The Ford GT won LeMans only once.

@@unihughes Not from 2016 to 2019 sorry go check your facts on the GTE Pro series and you're getting mixed up for GTE Class! There's a BIG difference between the two. No Corvettes placed in the top 3 standings and the Ford GT's placed 4-5 placings in the top 3 podium for GTE PRO SERIES. GTE series are for amateur drivers I think. The Ford GT's last race before coming back was in 66 over 50+ years and took all 3 podiums 1 2 and 3! There's only 4 classes which Corvette or Ford does not compete in the LMP1 & 2 class. Those cars are SUPER FAST!

In the GTE Pro class, the the same class Corvette competes in, the Ford won once in 2016. If they won LeMans in the amateur class, I’m unaware of it as I don’t follow the any class but GTE Pro. Incidentally your beloved Ford GT has never won a championship in anything. Corvette won IMSA championships away from Ford in 2017, 18 and 19.

Bad news is that we are now not going to know when the Corvette goes by anymore (you could tell where that C7.R was on the track by the exhaust sound in the background), it'll just sound like the other rear engine cars in the GTLM/GTD field...really disappointing IMO
