This mod looks very solid. It’s strange that they didn’t just have a small B Team overhaul the game to be on par with Generations visuals instead of outsourcing the game to a different studio to just port the wii game to multiple consoles with some tiny tweaks and call it a day. I mean you’re taking a Wii game and porting it onto TWO separate generations of consoles AND PC. There’s bound to be problems.

Making a B team from an already small team is already asking for trouble. I think Sega will always underfund Sonic no matter what. He will never get the budget he deserves

@@teneesh3376 Well, good news If you were seeing around what SEGA was doing after Frontiers, they are actually gaving the resources, budget and time they need. That's very clear with Sonic x Shadow generations. Before Frontiers? For sure. but after? Now it's a different story

@@LotteYanssonThey didn't. Supposedly, Blind Squirrel wasted time and money provided by Sega to port the game. They technically should have had plenty of time to port it. It is not like the Ratchet and Clank games that were strictly and explicitly coded for the PlayStation 2 where it made porting or emulating the game difficult for many years. In addition, they were using a relatively new game engine called Godot that is still being refined but claimed it was some in house engine without initially acknowledging the Godot developers before people they got called out on this.

One of the greater mod ever. My only problem with it is that it crashes terminal velocity. I was trying to get the last achievement where you have to beat the egg shuttle and then my game crashes as terminal velocity stage played. I wasted 40+ minutes for nothing because it doesn’t save.😢

Sonic team were too busy at that time when they were working on sonic frontiers they made blind squirrel worked on the remaster with all the resources they give them but they din't fully use it fully and it ended like it is now

Re:Rainbow is one of the Sonic mods of all-time. They say Generations is a good game, but I personally loved Colors more.

Everyone likes something. I think Colours is by far the worst Sonic game, spinoff or otherwise, but I love the DS version, Lost World, and Forces. I don't love Frontiers, or Superstars, and dislike Mania.

Only thing I want to see fixed is how Sonic's model jerks to the side every few steps at full speed, really kills immersion for me. Other than that, looks nice mostly. I do think distant lights losing their glow is a downgrade, that is how lights work after all, but the rest looks mighty nice.

BTW I ADORE THIS MOD It completely fixes Colors Ultimate EVERYTHING from the areas , and , the characters feels much more alive Honestly I can never find see or find myself turning this mod off Also I hope Bluwolf does a similar thing with the quote and unquote "remaster" of Sonic Generations

It's rather unfortunate that none of the remasters for HD ports of any Sonic game thus far has been objectively better than their respective original console version. Hopefully this changes with Sonic X Shadow Generations. It would be rather embarrassing to have a worser version of a game despite already having a PC port.

I am also playing colors ultimate from steam so I dont know if I can even use the mod with that port of the game. I hope this wasnt too confusing of a question.

Project re rainbow is definitely the type of remaster I kind of dreamed for a sonic colors remaster to look when it got leaked it just looks so damn good man the only thing I never expected were some of the extra flair she added to it that neither the wii and ultimate versions had like the multiple different wisps popping out the capsules in every stage

would have been cool if colors ultimate included in alternate ending dlc like frontiers where you have to fight the mothers wisp to free her from eggman control by combining all the wisp powers which transform sonic into a rainbow version of super sonic

Is there a mod that lets you use the bumper buttons to quick step? The only stage that I couldn't get an S rank on is the Starlight Carnival boss because you have to run as fast as possible to reach the boss and do various quick steps to get extra points, but in the Ultimate version when you do quick steps without boost you slow down, whereas in the Wii version I didn't have that problem!

Honestly my major issues with Ultimate were more technical issues and design changes rather than the overall visuals like having longer loading times than the wii version when we're on a SSD, the God-awful remixes for stage music that you couldn't change for acts 1-3, the uncapped framerate causing certain sections to just break entirely, the half-assed inclusion of the jade wisp and Metal Sonic, the lack of any kind of ambition to address any issues of the original game in some way(this one is nitpicky I admit), the AI-upscaled cut scenes, the seizure-inducing issues of the switch version and the even longer credits that stopped playing music half-way through lmao. The lighting and bloom effects were the least of my concerns but this mod actually does make the game look alot nicer so the creator did a pretty good job. Little washed-out in some places like you mentioned but its alot nicer to the eyes for sure.

I like the ds version more than the wii version because of the story, lore, and it utilizing the wisps better. the nega mother wisp, I loved her boss fight. She is a part of the wisps lore (yes, the wisps have lore actually lore, such as the mother wisp creating the wisps and the planets that eggman captured, the ds version of colors going into detail on how negative wisps are made and how it affects their minds, actually giving each wisps their own personalities like Lazer trying to fight the robots and void straight up destroying shit and causing chaos. The mother wisp is kind and motherly but can have a temper. eggman is lucky he got caught in the black hole before she got free. Plus, the wisps actually flow with level design in colors wii and ds. Similar to how the doom powers seem to. Unlike in the lost world or forces. The ds has a better story than the wii version. It has interesting lore, the wisps are fun and the stages are fun. Not to mention, multiple characters have sonic do missions to help free wisps or extra information on what is going on. I have both versions. The wisps are neat and do have lore. I wish sega would actually utilize their lore more). The ds version kinda reminds me of the adventure games mixed with the rush games.
