Abo Khlo when thinking about shadows and reflections picture a sun and the direction of light. For example, if it’s right too shadows will be more on the left and for reflections think of a pool of water.

Honestly figuring out shadow work grab a flashlight and shine it at an object look at where the shadows fall start off with simple things like a cube then move to a shoe if u want to make it more complex grab a lamp put the light facing down on it and shine another light this will help u understand how spotlights work and how shadows are casted but really shadow work isn’t needed that much for animation usually for realism
