@@CovingsworthHey Cov, can I share an amazing story with you? One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

@@daniel_8 there is. There is a script that scans the data of x,y,z placement from xedit and then exports that data in a text doc. This is SO sick! I think you understate JUST how much work this was, like PHOTOGRAMMETRY? I thought you were going to extract everything out of Nifskope or the Creation Kit but NOPE let's do a virtual 3d scan! LMAOOO Then of course all the effort that comes along with creating all those assets in photo-realistic quality. This Town Kit might be a BIG deal if there's anyone that tries to re-create skyrim in a different engine in the future (like OpenMW did). They can bake all that detail onto low detail assets and come out looking very faithful while being reasonable to run. I can't get over just how COOL this is I stg!

I often do this, on my tutorial channel, and have been doing it for years. I'll walk around in a game and, if something catches my eye, I take multiple screenshots of it then proceed to re-create it in Blender. Sometimes I'll even make tutorials showing people how to do said thing. I always use modular builds because Bethesda always uses that method and they have inspired me, as a 3D model artist, for the past 22 years.

@@vexnity460 it is lost but can be recreated at the artist's taste, which is more interesting to me as an artist, and can lead to a better final result. billboards in the other hand would not work, same as decals, but again, they can be redone, i don't see any problem with that since the goal isn't to make a port but to make a remake. The modular design approach is great but you should use more than one of each. Because otherwise they repeat and break the illusion at first or second glance. It's especially visible at the Riverwood with the stone wall tiles.
@Covingsworth3 ай бұрын
There’s two variations of each modular piece, and also you have to consider the amount of textures in the scene. If you have 1 variation of modular piece, with 10 different pieces, 3 PBR materials per piece, that’s 30 4k textures. Adding a second variation to each of those modular pieces instantly doubles the amount of textures, which could easily make the scene completely unoptimized
