I used a "82" rm250 motor on my cart. Too much power Too much speed Too much fun! Would spin doughnuts in 1 & 2 gears uncontrollably if you stood on the gas. Was more fun than should be legal. Your videos bring back good memories.

I love my CR85! I will never sell it! Its just the engine (big bore 105cc kit, custom intake manifold, FMF Fatty, built clutch etc...) swapped into a Chinese pitbike 😎 its unreal.. one day I want to find a blown up CR85 big wheel and swap my built motor.

Coming along Greg should be a cool cart. Wish you would of cleaned up the engine and some things before putting the cart together but that's just me When I was racing car trailer shop and tools were always clean and organized. On the original shifter that you cut off and welded on that flat stock if you make that a little longer it will make the throw longer and it will be easier to find neutral and go through your gears that's what it is it's that flat stock that you weld it on there is too short but, I'm sure you know that. Can u put another paddle shifter on the right side of the steering wheel for ur gear shifter. Both clutch cable and ahifter cabel wil the be as close to the steering wheel as possible and look good too.

Could yall put another heim (however you spell it) on the shifter and then feed the allthread through it and double nuts on either end to open gears up a little might cut down on flex a little as well

If you have any new GPS axles laying around can you check the run out on it. I just installed a brand new one and I'm getting .050 run out which is ridiculous for a driveline shaft. GPS said it was within their specs, they offered to exchange it but wouldnt guarantee the new one be any better. Guess I'm going to have to heat straighten mine.

You may want to come up with a way of draining your oil, the plug is on the bottom of the engine. Right now it looks like you'd have to take the engine off the kart just to do an oil change......

Red Beard's Garage you had a bad throttle cable and I told you a bicycle spoke would work if crimped on and ground down right works. I’m sure you understand. Been in my 22mm carby for a long time now.

You need a bottle of helium so that you can TIG DC with Helium the Aluminum. Just get a pony bottle.

That's mainly for in a pinch emergency weld, or your welding some thick Aluminum. Plus it's not recommended for those with less experience.

It isn't even remotely like you think as an internet expert. RB just get a pony bottle of helium and practice a bit. It isn't that hard. Or just TIG braze the part...

carsandcameras has the exact same frame with a lifan 200cc 5 speed 4 stroke and it rips. you, carsandcameras, rather b welding, and build break repeat should all have a shifter kart showdown. sorry this comment is late. cr80, rotary shifter kart. yz85. 200cc. and 900cc ducarti.

25 H.P.? No way dude. At best, at 14,000 RPM it may get 17 or 18 H.P. But I asked the question the wrong way. What I meant was that there are so many larger / better engines (complete bikes) you can pick up for a song why pick something so small? All I am saying is that you are going through a LOT of work for a very small engine. Just an FYI: I love your vids and click thumbs up every time.

Stock the engine is 20hp. Look it up. It's bored 20 over. It's a 2001 cr80r

I am amazed it puts out that kind of HP. But then I don't work with many engines that spin those kinds of revs. My question becomes, can you get the torque needed to start the cart moving? I mean sure, you can drop the gear ratio way down but that kills top end speed. Maybe I am wrong but with the added weight of the cart it's going to be really hard to find a happy medium. I'm going out on a limb and bet you either have to gear it really low or, you are gong to be buying lots of clutch's from slipping it all the time to take off. Hope I am completely off base on this, love the work you guys do.

The lifan made more power and way more torque but the red line is la at 5000 rpm but put a v twin on a go kart and it Will kill that cr 80
