Dear Ms.Chao, Just watching you move lowers my blood pressure and anxiety level. I am 71 years old (born in The Year Of The Water Dragon), and I had total hip and knee replacement surgery last year. After the hip I took my first Tai Chi class. It was wonderful. Afterwards I started riding my bicycle again after many years. Other than my joints, I am unusually healthy for my age. I even rode 100 miles in one day. In the late summer I had the knee replaced, and I have just registered for another Tai Chi class. I am studying Gigong and preparing for a very active spring and summer. Thank you so much for your videos. The backgrounds are breathtaking, and your grace and serenity are an inspiration! All the best to you. Be well and Prosper!

Hello there from Germany! I'm also a water dragon(72) and I ' m impressed by what you write,and also inspired to take up training again for myself ....🙏❤I came across Ms.Chao's Videos only yesterday and like the gentle movements...now I have a new perspective to do the 18 figures,I learnt it once and it was too hard for me any more...I want to avoid surgery so I will work on that more extensively than last year...😊@katsujinkin60

@@manawah.o.p.e. Hello There, fellow Water Dragon! Do whatever you can to avoid surgery. I waited as long as I could, but my joints finally let me know that the time had come. I am scheduled to have my other knee replaced in December, and that should be it for me. My new hip and knee are doing fine, and I did a 250 mile bikepacking adventure in August. I found out when I got back that I had done it with a hernia, so Ill be having surgery for that just before the knee. I'll be laid up all winter. but I plan to be very active again next summer. Keep making plans, and setting new challenges for yourself. That's what keeps me going! My Chinese horoscope said that The Year of The Dragon would be challenging. It has been that and more! Be Well, my friend, and Prosper!

So, 2024 is going to be a special year for you because it’s the Year of the Dragon, starting on February 10th (till 1/28/2025). If you’re born in a Dragon year, it’s actually your zodiac year (本命年, “běnmìngnián”), which is kind of a big deal in Chinese culture. Now, here’s something cool-people believe that wearing red during your zodiac year can help boost your luck and protect you from any bad vibes. Red is seen as a lucky color, bringing in good fortune and positive energy. So, wearing something red every day-whether it’s a bracelet, socks, or even a belt-can be a fun way to stay aligned with all that good luck in 2024. It’s not just for Dragons though; anyone can wear red for a little extra luck, but since it’s your year, it might feel especially meaningful for you! 😉

@@VivienChaoTaichiQigong Thanks so much! I wore lots of red on my bikepacking adventures. I even have a red belt with a dragon buckle. Since I am also an Aries, born in April, red is definitely my color. This dragon year has been very challenging, and I hope it will make me stronger in the long run.

Certainly! The Soft White Crane Qigong is truly captivating! For a deeper understanding of both Soft White Crane and Hard White Crane, delve into the comprehensive books authored by my shifu, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. My own crane lineage traces back directly to his teachings, cultivated through dedicated training in the mountains, spanning an entire school year. All credit goes to him with deep gratitude.

It looks like magic, you're so graceful. I lie down for almost 20 years and really want to start, so looked up some video's because i don't know where to start. As a child i always did kung-fu with my father, but sadly he is gone now for over 30 years. All the dokters here in Europe say i have to lie down but i feel like i want to move again... it will be very hard in the beginnin...i broke all the tailbones, there are at a wrong place but i can still walk a bit, sometimes a few hours. So i hope to start with tai-chi. It was a lifelong dream to do with the swords. Blessings 🙏🪷

Oh, i see qigong here...what is the difference between the two please 🙏
@VivienChaoTaichiQigong Жыл бұрын
In your journey to recovery, remember that each step forward is a testament to your strength and resilience. Consider exploring the gentle practice of Qigong, which could aid in your recovery journey with its healing movements and calming energy. You've got this! Now, the difference between Tai Chi and Qigong lies primarily in their focus and approach. Tai Chi is a martial art form that involves a series of movements or postures, often practiced for self-defense, balance, and overall physical well-being. On the other hand, Qigong focuses on cultivating and balancing one's internal energy through slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and controlled breathing exercises. While both prioritize holistic well-being, Qigong places a particular emphasis on cultivating and harmonizing the body's energy flow for health and vitality.

@VivienChaoTaichiQigong Thank you very much for your reply and teachings... i take it to heart and go for the qigong then firstly. I try doing some, and some days i can do it a bit for 2 or 3 days, and then the next few days my body wants to, but it is hard to get started.... maybe i need to listen to the body, and time will get better? Thank you so much to enlighten me. I wish you much success and blessings 🙏🌸

I must ask you Viven, besides this building up a great amount of Qi. Does it not also develop Jing?
@VivienChaoTaichiQigong9 ай бұрын
The concept of Jing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is generally understood as our innate life essence, inherited from our parents and determined at conception. It's considered a finite resource that naturally depletes over time, contributing to the aging process. Therefore, unlike Qi, which can be cultivated and replenished through various practices like Qigong or acupressure, Jing cannot be directly increased.
@torowudangАй бұрын
In ancient qigong books it is said that you should not do qigong in a place where there is wind, I imagine that he did this for the purpose of the video but those serious qigong practitioners know that you should not do it in places that are too cold, too hot or windy.
@VivienChaoTaichiQigongАй бұрын
Yes, indeed. Sometimes filming a practice session requires being in less-than-ideal environments. However, I wouldn’t recommend anyone practice outdoors on a windy day. Fortunately, when you’re practicing with me through a computer screen, you’re likely in the comfort of your living room, with perfect shelter and a pleasant temperature. 😉
