I had to wait till the grand old age of 57 before I became first time piggie mum. I'm currently off work with broken ribs, ankle and foot and binge watching your videos to cheer myself up. My boars love sweet parsnips, lovage, borage, watercress, parsley, cilantro, arugula, fennel TOPs, dill, carrots, banana slices, a whole unshucked ear of corn, apples, rose hips violet blossoms, nasturtium flowers, broccolini leaves, chinese celery with leaves, british cucumbers, melon slices, watermelon, apple slices, green beans, and carrots. The sweets like corn and apple slices are fed 1x a week. I have noticed that when my guinea pigs are fed a botanical hay mix instead of straight American timothy, they eschew lettuce (!) I love how guinea pigs haul away veggies.

Mr. Pineapples likes sweet peppers, grape tomatoes, celery, broccoli, carrots, cucumber, blueberries, and lots of different greens (but not arugula). Carrots are his favorite, so I save those for special occasions, like nail trims. He's never had beet root or fennel, so I'll have to try them.

I love how piggies fight for the same veg/treat! It doesnt matter how many pieces there are, they fight over the same one. I did take advise from you about clothesline enrichment! I hung up string and mini clips across the tip of their cage and it really got them reaching and foraging. Now if I dont have veggies on the string, Winnie will nip at the clothes pins and gets my attention for food. Im not sure if I have trained them or they me! LOL!

My piggie loves full cage clean day cuz I hide all his treats and veggies and some freeze dried banana and strawberry pieces in his hay, and he digs through it to find it all, and on regular days he just gets his treats in his bowl lol

Aw they looked like they were having so much fun! My vet advised me to feed very limited low calcium veggies, and avoid fruits all together, but I know my piggies would go wild like this if they had the chance 😂 So much fun to watch - I can tell you had a lot of fun making this as well 🥰

Oh no, not cantaloupe XD I'm shocked that your pigs didn't get addicted to it. Mine act like they're rabid around those melons. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've taken a hard bite from my guinea pigs, and 3/4 times it was when I was feeding cantaloupe! They love it so much that they go into a frenzy.

Brilliant to see, hilariously funny. Unfortunately mine are not foodies and I've tried so many veggies and a few fruits. It's gimme grass, grass and more grass. They do now eat a little cucumber, romaine, celery, carrots and occasional cherry tomatoes, so will see if I can find the purple carrots.

Great video. I do by very many vegetables, but of what I do get, my male will eat green leaf and red leaf lettuce, romaine, cilantro, parsley, carrot, zucchini, and celery. My female will only eat the 3 lettuces, cilantro, cuccumber( male also), Neither would eat grape tomatoes nor bell peppers. They also like snow peas, apple, little piece of orange, and blueberries and banana.

All 3 of my girls looooove carrots! They all really love romaine lettuce and any color of bell pepper (haven’t tried red yet because my 2 boars both hated it so I don’t want to waste the money on it again). The funny thing is one of them likes to eat just the stem of the parsley, but the other two love it so they pick up the leaves from her. My two little girls also like cucumbers, and my oldest girl doesn’t like them that much, but she eats them when she realizes she’s eaten everything else😅. I definitely intend to add some more foods to their diets, on occasion of course, and hopefully they enjoy all of the new foods.

@@SqueakDreams I like to take note of things like that, just so I know they are eating something that they both love and that contains necessary nutrients for them. I just got my younger 2 sows in October, and they are the funniest little girls! It is a Sheltie/Silkie and a Texel from a breeder near me, and they were born a week apart in September so they have always been together. I originally was only going to adopt one, but I could not bring myself to separate them, and they get along so well with my other sow who is over 2 years old now. I measured my new enclosure and it meets over the necessary requirements for 3 guinea pigs so I bought more hiding places and an extra hay rack and here we are! Things like food preferences and cuddle preferences just come with time, as I am sure you are well aware, and I do my research on different foods that I can feed them and how to portion it into their diet the correct way instead of just giving them a whole bundle of food they are not used to and upsetting their poor little bellies. I always look forward to your videos, thank you for sharing your guinea pigs and life with all of us😊!

Omg this made me laugh so much, thanks for this video!!! Just wanted to say you should be careful with green beans. They are very high in oxalate and should never been given in combination with veggies that are high in calcium (oxalate in combination with calcium can cause bladderstones) 😉

Mines love celery they love cherry grape and the regular tomatoes and then from Walmart I give them the spring mix I give them grass cuz that's actually really good from my yard from Walmart I'll usually get a mix of fruits you give them bananas as treats so we barely get them so they've learned to get the most treats but they personally like celery tomato salad mix pellets hay grass apples bananas and that's pretty much it I mean they have other foods that they like but it's not coming to my mind right now so yeah and right now I'm holding one of my guinea pigs name bon bon all I'm watching this video

Loved this video Sarah-thank you! My girls have some sprouts this week which they’re enjoying. I tried parsnips with them a while ago and nobody would touch them but might try them again! Hi! I'm a huge fan of your KZbin channel! I got my two little piggies about a month ago and I've been trying to get them treats but everything in the pet stores I've been going to have nuts, seeds, potato starch, and ground rice in everything!!! Hey there, thank you, I'm so glad you like the channel and congrats on your new piggies! Buying treats for guinea pigs is always a minefield! Even some of the better brands still slip up so it's good to double check everything. I have some treats in my Amazon storefronts (links in descriptions), which I give my own piggies, including the Rosewood Naturals range. Avoid nuts and seeds (I have given treats with millet in though as this is a debatable one!) - I've had things with "corn" in which I'm not sure is as bad as corn starch! Or things like timothy hay cubes, natural forages and peaflakes are safe options :)

I generally just google it, but also websites like guinea lynx have some useful lists, including rankings for vitamin C and other nutrients. Ones to definitely avoid are potatoes, mushroom, bulbs (onion, garlic, leek) and tomato leaves/stems 😊

Ok for all the piggy parents.. I have a 6 year old piggy. Lately she has turned her nose up to her favorite veggies! Still will eat hay pallets. She is getting old yes but she always loves her veg. So i jumped into action . watched had 911 kit out. So since she wasnt eatting her veg i did blend up her veg and thought maybe teeth problem as she is a oldy. She ate it but not alot but went right back to hay. Is she is not feeling her veggies right now? I mean i put her plate down she goes to it and like makes the craziest smell shakes her head up like it stinks. I mean i SCRUB her food! Anyone could help me would be great!

I need help! I'm a new guinea pig owner and I have two beautiful little girls. I found two more girls that need rescued. Can I introduce two more girls to my current pair? I love them and don't want to stress them or cause them to want to fight. Any ideas??

Poor Piggies I would have cut the veggies and fruit up for them so they don't fight How is Lyra doing with her overian cysts?

They really didn't mind a bit of competition 😊 I will be doing an update but Lyra does seem to have Cushing's as the hair loss is no longer fitting with just cysts, and her ovaries are fairly normal feeling apparently. Her hair is growing back although I doubt it will return fully!

@@SqueakDreams Poor Lyra, hopefully she will just improve, she looks very active and happy though and is eating so she is not doing too bad
