Duuuude. Epic. Love all the little tips. Subscribed. Liked. Bookmarked. I’ve been in the Hobby a long time and I can instantly say, ‘this is my kind of channel’ lol. Personally, my modular insert will be more generic than yours-using 3-5mm Balsa, or similar wood-not MDF because I’ll stain it with Minwax polyshade, but I’ll also have lighting using a false-back and a 3m LED strip. Thin metal sheet painted for my neo-magnetic minis to stick. Clear plexiglass windows. Recessed square grooves in the top 4 corners with magnets at the top to stack. The actual metal surface, that’s painted black, will be prepped with maskinh ‘liquid’ for numbering/naming the mini. I’ll also create a masking template for the bases-I’ll use my magnificent hammer and hole puncher for base shapes and areas where I’ll be labeling. My walls will be grooved to allow me to slide them out like drawers. The front of each tray will have a 90° upwards lip with an archival metal shield for me to slip in a printed name of the game tray. Although we are going about creating modular shelves in different ways, I wholeheartedly respect your style. Mine is more spartan in terms of its appearance and more tightly packed miniatures. I’ve seen similar modular designs to mine on etsy that use a laser cutter, but I find burn marks ugly and would be forced to paint the wood black, which wood make me loose the beautiful wood staining. Maybe if I sand those burnt edges, but, then again, I don’t own a laser cutter, nor do I want to pay for something I enjoy building. Love the resin ooze! As you clearly know, there are so many cool ways to make miniatures pop by using resin directly or making a silicone mold and adding cool stuff to the base! Thanks for the video!

This is an awesome idea! One suggestion I just thought to go the extra mile of would be to add an acrylic sheet as a flip door to the front to keep dust out.

Love the idea. Just FYI: I love the channel, but 20 seconds of silence had me almost clicking off thinking there was an audio issue with the video. :D (Probably a damning comment on the impact of Social Media on patience?) Keep up the awesome work. This project in particular has been very inspiring. :D

I was skeptical on these initially, but when you had all 3 stacked with the lights on I was SOLD. I just love your videos. Highlight of my day usually!

Awesome result ! I was scared when you used the resin, but in the end, you've handled it very well, and it's really beautiful ^^

I like the idea, I might size this up for my Black series action figures, give it a scifi theme.

You should never cut PVC in a laser cutter. From xTool: "PVC is a very common plastic, and it is used in a wide range of essential and daily used products. But you cannot cut it using a laser machine as it produces harmful smoke of hydrochloric acid, vinyl chloride, ethylene dichloride, and dioxin. All these vapors and fumes are corrosive, toxic, and carcinogenic, so your health will be at risk if you process them using your laser machine."

This right here. Always know your materials and never put somthing in your laser if you don't know.

Hope those are magic torches. Light without actual flame, noxious fumes are often flammable. 😂😂😂 Looks awesome as always though. Take care Jon. 🤔 Maybe they help burn off the fumes… safely?

the only downside to these videos is that most of us do not have, nor can we afford, a laser engraver/cutter. However, I want to make these so bad, so an idea: What if you were to scan these things and provide them as STLs to Patrons or sell?

Lasers aren't that uncommon any more, you might find a maker space, or a laser service in your area. The other option is doing it by hand without a laser, absolutely doable.

A warning: pvc releases hydrochloric acid fumes when cut with a laser. At best it will damage your laser. At worst it will damage you. Find another foam please.

And yes, I do realize he is using a vent. That does not stop damage to the laser machine although it will mitigate it partially. However others might follow the idea on a cheaper system and get the full set of damage to machine and body.

Be safe lad Pvc nasty shit and that nasty shit you don't need in your body if you seen what it does to stainless steel in injection moulding you'd not run it under a laser in your home, please check out your material data sheets before laser cutting save your health and your tools.
