HEY! So this was a fun little video to stumble on today! Those Kvissle rails were my brainchild! Kinda crazy to see my desk show up in your video! :D I'm not much of a 3d designer, but I managed to whip those rails up and it's been fun to see how often they get downloaded. Glad you like them!

To peel the cork off, put the trays in the oven at 200 F for 10 minutes. You can then pull the cork off in one sheet. Clean the residue with goo gone.

I'm using the Kvissle as well, I turned the tray with the tab inwards and glued a magnet to the tab so it sticks a little to the back of the kvissle and doesn't slide out from gravity if you don't keep it level.

I use the Ikea Kvissle boxes as well. I drilled holes on the top and put a kitchen drawer handle on it, and I keep the trays in with a length of velcro strap around it.

Given how thin the metal appears wouldnt it bend on top to carry it in that way? I mean the idea of just using some straps is an option, of course.

If you don't have a 3d printer or know anyone with one, a simple and pretty cheap method of expanding the rails is to buy vivarium runners for 4mm glass. You will have to cut them to size but the space in teh runners is 5mm so it will fit the trays from the Kvissle.

I tell myself I'm going to finish my army so I can play, but really I'm just looking forward to transporting my models like a boss with my Ikea letter tray and some magnets. A cheap bag option are the insulated courier bags, which come in all kinds of configurations and give plenty of padding.

Hey, Awesome video. I have 8 kvissels as part of my storage and transport setup. They fit perfectly in the detolf shelves as well to increase model count. I found a can cooler at a grocery store that they fit inside, I superglued a handle on the top of the kvissel to pull it out.

I've done the cake sheet and the plastic bin with metal liner in the bottom (galvanised roof flashing works great and is cheap) and regular cookie sheets in mailer boxes. My current favorite is the boxes that bulk paper comes in, a local print shop regularly gives them out. They're exactly 12"x18"x4.5" on the inside nd I like how the top folds down over the bottom more than mailer style boxes. The Kvissle looks intriguing

Yeah I was able to remove the cork pretty easy with acid tone 100%. Pour it on and it just pops off it still leaves the sticky residue which well can be an upside of not even magnetizing but I was told that you can use peanut butter to remove adhesive pretty easily

Tablewar is really good quality, and while the initial expense is high, you can buy additional trays to store more minis than you carry with you, and it has adjustable rails as well. I really like the hard sided case AND the clear front window. However, the Kvissile is a great cheap option, and I like using it as my work-space minis. I can store minis in various stages on each level (This level is assembled, this one is primed, these are painted, these are based and varnished).

You must have huge biceps to carry that around. They're heavy! I was able to remove the cork slowly and carefully using hot water. Usually there is some leftover glue residue so I just got some very thin shelf paper to cover over it and its still very magnetic.

Swedish pronunciation: quiss-le (slightly drawn out s-sound, le as in lettuce). English pronunciation: quizzle (like drizzle, but with the harder ku-sound, not a ka-vizzle sound). 😁 Don't know if it's applicable to the US side of Ikea stores, but the Danish Ikea site says that this product is on the way out of their line-up.

Do you have a solution to keep the minis from collecting dust while on a Kallax shelf? Im thinking of adding clear acrylic or plexiglass doors but not sure yet.
@gaminggeek241

No, dust is a bigger issue with open shelves, which is why I store mine behind glass doors. If you can, you should definitely put on plexi doors. Here's a link to some options on Etsy (sort of pricey though): www.etsy.com/market/acrylic_glass_door_kallax

I wonder if you could grid arrange 10mm magnets on the metal side and use this to hold mini’s with metal plates under their basis… 10mm might have enough grippy to hold through the metal and cork, giving you best of both worlds.

direct steele, sometimes, is too strong, and depending on the glue, the magnets can stay attached to the steele and not to the base, the easy solution is a sheet of kitchen paper, or large tissues

I love my KVISSLE, the only flaw is indeed the tabs facing downwards when you flip the shelves over. It makes it so you can't pull out the shelf beneath if the minis reach the bottom of the tray above, because they'll bump the downward tab as you pull them out and just make a complete pile of mess. I actually have to take out one shelf at a time, starting from the top one, anytime I want a mini from the lower shelves. Very annoying. I also tried removing the cork and it was absolutely impossible, I ended up with a bent and scraped shelf.

@@gaminggeek241 I bought one yesterday and for half of the first plate it was a lottle messy but I don't mind, it'll only tpuch the underside of my bases. I have the Prusa MK3S but I would recommend the Bambus over them. The best bang for your buck right now is the Bambu A1 (although there was a recent recall with the heater cable so make sure you get the updated one) or the P1S.

@@gaminggeek241 Are you suggesting that because of components (software, hardware), support, or because you’ve had issues with your MK3? I am eying the MK4 but I’ve definitely heard of the Bamboo Labs (and their recall) so it’s interesting you suggest them.
@gaminggeek241
@gaminggeek241 2 ай бұрын
@@dr.h6493 The Prusas are reliable and I haven't had problems with them but they lack innovation so the Bambus and AnkerMakes have passed them up regarding automated features and ease of use. And for the price point of a Prusa MK4, the Bambus are a better deal still. If the MK4 was more like $400, I might recommend them but at more than double that cost, the Bambus are a much better deal.

It seems very obnoxious to put the drawers in upside down. It also seems more to remove the cork I have some magnetic sheets. is there any reason not to just simply attach the magnetic sheets to the top of the cork. that way the trays could be right side up. with a magnet in the model sticking to the magnetic sheets be less secure than sticking straight to metal. I guess I could just go and test that.
