I was just blown away watching you create this, so was my cat! He doesn’t usually watch the computer, but as he was sitting on my lap while I watched, the music caught his attention. He tilted his head down a bit to focus on it and then couldn’t stop watching! I needed to get up, but didn’t dare break his concentration. He seemed mesmerized. So funny.

I’ve been watching your channel and absolutely LOVE your paintings. They are all so beautiful! You make it look so easy but I know it is not. I have tried a lot of different mediums in the past and can’t wait to try the alcohol ink. I’ve purchased all the necessities. ALL of the different mediums have health issues especially for someone with respiratory issues. We just have to be smart about it and take precaution. Hope you can continue with this. You are GREAT!

Both your pieces look amazing. I think that using the hair dryer even on a cool setting probably makes the effects of the alcohol/blending solution more of an issue with the slight heat creating more fumes. I have used an airbrush to move the inks which might be an alternative, but a bit more forceful so maybe create different effects. Great inspiration.

Oh CeeCee, this alcohol ink piece turned out so nicely. I am getting up the nerve now, to try doing a landscape. I have stained mica pieces found on the roads around our property, and I have done my share of dropping ink, so now, after watching you with the ink and the blending tool, I will definitely give it a try and see where it leads. Thanks for your daily inspirations, CeeCee, for not only do you motivate me to play in my art room, you inspire me with your techniques with watercolor and now to go further with alcohol inks.

Lovely! Glad you did warm folks.. Years ago I was cleaning the bathroom mirror after a shower w/alcohol steamy bathroom not helping but was in a hurry to get ready , company coming soon.. Shower and clean as I go. Squirted about 1/4 cup alc. On bathroom mirror and facets and with a paper towel started to clean hadn't open the window yet as I'm short and I would have to climb on the sink to reach it. So I'm cleaning feeling pains in my arm and in my chest. Opened the door hoping it would help.. Ask I know is it hurt to breathe...ended up at the Dr.s he called an ambulance..I was having a heart attack. You're not supposed to get it in your skin and breathe it in an enclosed room... I will never do that again for sure! Air ventilation is A #1 must.. Gloves are a good barrier. Be smart when you create my friends ..so we can create more beauty!

Hi there - the kind of mask you are wearing is a dust mask. If you want to protect yourself from VOCs - you HAVE to wear a mask made for that. Sadly - they are the kind with the two filters on either side - those big ones and you put it on tightly around your face - they have instructions. Once you get the fit - it becomes easier to take on and off again (only the first time is a hassle). :-) With these masks, you cannot smell anything - if you do, then you know it is time to replace the filters. They are a bit expensive - around $35 Canadian. I use it for spray painting in the garage and some gluing. And I agree one should use it with alcohol, especially for an extended time of use. It is great that you provide the warnings here - but Iso Alc is all about VOCs. Resins in the blending solution offer an extra bonus of sticking to your lungs if inhaled - so they say, never spray it. :-( But if you have the mask, then you do have more flexibility with how you work. So if you do a lot of this - it is worth getting the other mask. Warning - they are not as much fun or comfortable and they get hot - so you need to take some breaks - at least that is what I have found. Still better to be safe. Sorry for the long message - but I see soooooooooooo many people thinking that they are protecting themselves and they are not. BTW - I did a lot of research on this issue including talking to some manufacturers of these masks. The best way to research this area is by Googling VOC's and that's how you will discover which masks do what. Cheers, and thank you for providing your lovely videos! All the very best! :-) PS.... I think alcohol denat (and/or grain) might be better if you make ur own inks and just the plain alch for the effects. But purchased inks are all ISO. Still, even though we use perfume and drink vodka, I am nor sure I would want to inhale it for lengthy amounts of time either. It might be worth researching though - note to self - haha. :-)

What? no coffee??? LOL I use alcohol inks frequently and have no problem with the smells. Maybe some are more sensitive to it than others. Try using a diffuser on your hair dryer. It concentrates your air flow and you can control the ink a little more. Love the "waterfall" effect! Keep practicing...there are many of us learning along with you. Have a terrific day!

Eleanor Vasil the smells don’t bother me but I’m in a well ventilated area. However, I do have concerns about breathing it in and possible long term effects. The more I’m learning about these different mediums, the more I’m wondering if PPE is best to be used as much as possible at all times. Anyway, I have not tried using the diffuser with my hair blower...ty for the tip...I must give it a try. 😉

thank you, frances. the isopropyl alcohol i use is 99%USP so it's quite a bit stronger than the blending solution. the other difference is that the blending solution has a binding agent in it and the isopropyl alcohol is pure alcohol.

creationsceecee thank you! I use the 99% isopropyl alcohol. Never used the blending solution.

Gorgeous!! Tfs I was wondering if you would share a video of that flower that you pulled into the video at the end. Did you know that tim holtz has a pallet for alcohol inks? And paint brushes just for alcohol inks. Is the same pallet that he used to use for reinkers lol. New subbie here :)

welcome to my channel! i didn't film the process of the flower i showed in the video unfortunately. and i don't like to duplicate my art. thanks for the tim holtz news; i'll check that out although i am taking a break from alcohol inks for now until i have proper setting that is not harmful for my health. have a beautiful weekend!
