@Ermakshually but artists consuming that unique pieces are hated leads them to decrease in creativity. it won't just occur to their art, they will witness in other artist's art. its all an echo chamber.

That's pretty much the same with OCS. Unique concepts get ignored and not appreciated but if it's done and the character is portrayed correctly in a short film or Animated show they get appreciated, which is depressing. Unique and OG concepts should be automatically appreciated, even if it's not portrayed correctly.

i've been really considering quitting art tbf as self taught for abt 6 years. but i don't want art to disappear from the world. i WANT younger people to keep getting into art, and i hate it so much when older artists bully or constantly ignore them js because they're developing. LET them have art styles that haven't been seen before. i genuinely can't believe anybody who calls themselves creative then shits on ppl who divert from mainstream art because that is literally the foundation of creativity as a concept. taking one thing and making something anew.

I think that something that a lot of humans miss when considering art: is leaving the idea of "consumption". You don't need to be able to consume, to taste, and to see art as good in order for it to be.., art!! People see artists they don't like for subjective reasons that aren't attached to any morality to why it's supposed to be bad; and hate it. They bash it, they tell others that the art is terrible. We all seem to forget that art is simply something that our minds naturally create, as not everyone can be friends, not all art will be friendly to you. And part of why art is beautiful, is to appreciate that we're here.

im an artist, and i struggle a lot with drawing, let alone pushing out art consistently. i especially struggle with stuff like detailed anatomy, so i generally stick to a more cartoon art style as to not burn myself out. i often feel like my art is worse than it used to be, since i used to draw in a more detailed anime-ish style. it feels like there's only one kind of art out there that is seen as ''good'' to a lot of people, espeically non-artists, and its the kind of art that i'm not only not good at but also the kind of art that i find incredibly tedious and boring. i feel like a failure of an artist especially since i used to get praised for being a ''talented young artist'' when i was a pre-teen.

I blame social media algorithms for this. Only the most popular and trendy stuff go viral, this enables artists to pump out the same exact style and genre to get views. Genuine artwork does get a fraction of the recognition as the previous. So much that no one even knows that this creative works even exist.

“When did creativity become a burden on society?” We as humans are always trying to justify ourselves. To look like we have our shit together. It’s why we’re obsessed with fame, fortune, status, career. Even having the right opinion or politics. This is especially prominent in our time. Some see the difficulties that come with being an artist (and there are difficulties), and think they have it better.

the best way i have found to actually enjoy the art community again after years of avoidance has been just blocking and moving on. if they are being rude to artists? blocked. if they are posting things that i think is strange? blocked, and depending on the subject matter possibly reported. dont feel bad for trying to curate your art feeds to fit you! letting these people and all the drama seep into every aspect you see the community makes it just become extremely unpleasant to engage in what you had liked doing for the community to begin with. find artists who have fun just drawing and sharing their stories and characters! find other smaller artists on the same skill as you and bam! possible mootie who is also just there to appreciate the art and their interests!! sometimes it takes a bit more effort than just letting it be all that you see, but in the end it is so much more worth it. they thrive off of being upset or upsetting others, deprive them of the luxury. ignore them, because if they are just there to be rude and hateful, they are not worth your time. [ edit : fixed typo from "reposted" to "reported" ]
@ClownCatastropheКүн бұрын
this is not to say you shouldn't be knowledgeable of relevant art community news, but it is important to remember the art community isnt just ONE community of people. the people you see as the art community are not the same for other people. every sub-group is going to have their own ideals for how the art community should run or overall morals the community should hold but often fail to understand everyone has a different basis of what their community is!

What you said is true, still I want to say that it’s not a “nowadays” thing. The creativity hating, the struggles of being an artist, it’s always have been there, from the ancient Egypt till now. (It wasn’t even considered a real job for many years) And it’s not only about art, it’s literally about everything. If you disagree with a popular statement, you’re gonna be opposed. 1000 years ago if you were against slavery you would be fought, today if you support racism you’re gonna be fought, and if you think long enough, these examples are gonna be countless. I don’t think there’ll be total toleration anytime, only the things people hate will shift by time passing. It’s not only the art community that is like that. But all of this shouldn’t make you feel defeated or devastated, I think people should be more optimistic, because this world is a pretty shitty place, and if we can’t find happiness in it then it’s gonna destroy us. So stay strong and don’t let all this stupid things be the ones driving you. You’re the one who will appreciate your own works the most, and you should be the one who decides if you want to quit or not, and not some stupid drama online

She has a point, not so much about the modern art though, the main reason most people criticize modern art because it's not great art and a museum is a place for great art. There was this great quote but I can't find it, but it goes something along this line- "A great painted art balances between beauty, effort, and *it also balances between being subjective and objective meaning.* If the art represent reality too much or explained too much by the artist, to the point the audience have no room for interpertation, then that art is too objective/has no meaning. But if the art is too vague in appearance(like bad modern art) that it end up leaving the audience confused and up to their multiple interpertations, then it is too subjective/has no direction", something like that. Great art should be able to explain *itself* visually and with a title while still giving enough balance for the audience to interact themself. Does art that is not great means it is bad art? *Heavens no!!* Your art is still good even if it's not great, it's not the same /equal, know the word distiction, this is why mothers encourage their children by saying their crude art looks good and hang it on the fridge, she knows in no way does it belong in a museum or worth an expensive price but regardless it has value brcause of your effort, so go, keep drawing! The only way art can be truelly bad is if your art endanger others or encourage others to do bad things. But anyway other than that, I agree, as artist we need to build each other up, encourage each other so that maybe one day some of us can strike that balance to be actually *qualified* to enter meseum/be great art in a place specifically built for the purpose of displaying great art. Also yeah, it is advised to stay away from drama like twitter for your metal sake.

I now worry about my future even more because I always wanted to be in the creative industry, especially animation, when I was younger - even though I always said to the older people who asked me that I wanted to be a doctor. I see AI everywhere flooding the creative spaces and even anything not related to art. I get so pissed because I don’t know if I’ll even be super happy and content in my future. I don’t even know if everyone responsible for the many creative, and actually soulful and pure effort entertainment that is shown to us through TV or movies, is paid well to make their passion actually be useful to them, to make them survive. I hate to admit it, but I’m really starting to hate the looming presence that I will be seen as useless to my own family, who has so many talents and skills actually making them survive, and here I am. Also is it just me or has 2022 just been the start of art community drama for me? It’s like it appeared outta nowhere.

As an artist myself it is sad to see the community cave into itself, and people treat us who express ourselves into what we create like bags of dirt, for some could take months, or even years in finishing an art piece. I used to really want to post what I created when I was a bit younger, until the community became what it is now. Which now I noticed has been giving me a great anxiety to spread onto other apps because of AI training models, and people trying to dunk on me so they can feel better after making an artist feel bad after false allegations. It’s just so sad to me, and I hope the rest who read this could think the same.

@beetlepartyКүн бұрын
"if you dont like it then scroll" isnt that censorship in a way too? if people are allowed to make whatever they want, people allowed to express whatever they want towards that piece. yeah, you shouldnt harass people over art, but people are allowed to express a negative opinion. if youre for "no censorship," then allow people to express negative opinions too about people's art, otherwise this a double standard. my main problem with the blackwashing btw is if you do the same to a black character and make them asian they call you racist, but they can blackwash your asian characters and theyre being "inclusive," and they always call asian characters "white." my issue isnt with imagining characters as a different race, my issue is with changing a character's race and using that to be on a moral high ground. its also because it really sucks seeing how people always talk about black inclusivity but never even touch on the subject of asians and representing us in media, and just spitting on any representation we have to represent yourselves at the expense of us. i cant speak for all asians, but this is my personal opinion as an asian person.

I haven't watched the video so srry if I misunderstand, but imo that's an issue with you being biased, not you being creative. if you're going to draw that, but just for the sake of being creative with a character; put it into context like.
