This one haunted me for decades! I finally figured out it was a Night Gallery episode and watched it with my son - it’s really one of the best anthology episodes! Lawrence Harvey was great.

Ohhhh....I had forgotten about this. I saw it when it was first broadcast, and I had the horrors for weeks. Night Gallery was amazing. I remember many of the stories. This is a great addition to the Creepy Crawlies Countdown. I most heartily agree with 5 💀💀💀💀💀

The Caterpillar is one of my favorite episodes of Night Gallery, and one of Lawrence Harvey's few really good performances. Harvey has never been a dynamic actor and, aside from The Manchurian Candidate and this, I really have never seen anything with him in it that I really wanted to see. I liked his performance here because he makes a good villain, and at the end, not even having a critter work its way through his brain leads to any contrition from Macy. This is a man who would have done this again without any care in the world, and the final horror is absolutely deserving. Great to hear your thoughts on this one, Doc! I remember reading something about these little "critter put into your body" movies, and it compared this Night Gallery episode with Star Trek II where you get an alien beetle thing shoved into Pavel Chekov's ear. And the article makes the point that the Night Gallery segment is far better -- and scarier -- than the Star Trek moment because you don't SEE anything. Seeing it just makes it look silly (and let's face it - Walter Koenig really overacts like crazy here). There are benefits to keeping the shocker away from your eyes.

Love the EC comics reference. I have a copy of a Vault of Horror signed by Johnny Craig! I definitely need to watch this Night Gallery Episode. Love TZ. I think Spielberg started his career on Night Gallery right?

I’m a huge fan of Night Gallery. I think the best episodes of Night Gallery are just as good (if not better) than Twilight Zone. Everything about this series screams 1970s and is so nostalgic.

Yep! I love it. The quality really fell off in places unfortunately, especially season 3. But everything from the theme music to Serling and the gallery setting are so good, when the stories are up to par it's pure gold!
