This was great. I just bought the Crested Gecko Starter Kit from Pangea Reptiles. I got the gecko shipped also. I do use paper towels as substrate, and added a ReptiRock shallow water bowl. The only change I did was remove the foam background and replaced it with a cork one.

I put a piece of bark in my bearded dragons cage... When I cleaned him out a week later a bunch of crickets crawled out of it... I wouldn't recommend bark if you feed your lizards live foods... That was terrifying...

Don't be an idiot! A friend of mine once killed his 6 year old household gecko by feeding it a roach he found in the kitchen. It seems okay to some idiots, but don't forget the roaches eat ant poisons, wood shavings etc, all of that shit can be undigested when your gecko eats the roach. Thus meaning your gecko just ate a roach + whatever else is in the belly (poison, shavings, paper, moldy crums, etc).

There are some differentness between Baby Crested Geckos and adults. And you should never get moss from outside. For baby's you SHOULD use paper towel to make sure there going to the restroom. As long as you have a mesh type lid you don't need to cover anything up because they still need a good amount of air flowing in the cage. Just to help out:)

I agree with most of what you said but substrate wise its easier to go with something easier to maintain if something goes wrong. I had eco earth as my substrate twice and twice got mites so had to gut everything, bake all wood items and freeze my coco fibre background. Now i'm also using a coco fibre mat for my substrate as well as my background and its a lot easier to maintain and there is no chance of introducing mites as the humidity is much lower, so just a heads up

Hey just wondering, do you breed mice for any of your reptiles? If so a care guide on that would be great. I've been having some health problems with my mice. Their symptoms are mainly sneezing and really loud breathing like they have a stuffy nose... I've been using kiln dried pine bedding as substrate. I recently switched them to a freshly cleaned cage with paper towels as substrate but the symptoms are still there... What should I do?

I have had my gecko since June 2014. I got him when he/she was 2 weeks old. I am concerned about his/her size because i cannot even tell a difference in size since i got him/her. Is this normal or should he/she be bigger after 9 months

Had the same thing with my gecko. I couldn't tell if he was growing but they all grow at their own pace. Some are slower than others. My gecko is full grown now. It just took a while. No worries though

Although mold shouldn't be an issue if you are keeping your tanks clean I would go with the Leo because they are an arid species and mold would likely not grow in a dry environment.

+Christiaan Ruit don't count me on this, I'm really not sure, but crested geckos sometimes shed their tails off when they feel threatened (in the wild they would do this when targeted by predators) maybe it's just ready to shed its tail, most crested geckos loose their tails at some point in their lives

maybe you need to maken your cgd a little bit more whet ;) (my englih is not best im sorry) and when he's is not eating it you can do a liitle bit on his mouth he will lick it of his mouth ;) and about the cricket you should do that once or twice a week and do than 4 crickets so monday 4 and sunday 4 when you got an adult gecko make it 6 monday and 6 sunday i hope this makes it al little easier for you when youve got guestions.. i.m always there to answer it ;)

Katie Medland Pangea is fine but you should change it up and occasionally feed them 1 to 2 crickets every month. Crickets are usually a treat for them and shouldn't be used as an everyday food source. Repashi is a really good source of food too and I really recommend it but if you do feed them that I would also recommend feeding them the Pangea as well because not all of the varieties of repashi have calcium in them. Changing up their diet in my opinion is best for your crested gecko not that they wouldn't be happy with just one food source but I think they do appreciate it and enjoy it. Hoped this helped you!!
