She is calling it a 300yrs old dish how it is possible....
@carouselcakes62373 жыл бұрын
@@adhbutbharatdrr it’s a possibility because in the Christian faith, 6 weeks before Easter people fasted to demonstrate how It must have felt for Jesus to fast in the desert for 40 days before he was crucified. On Good Friday we don’t eat meat but on Easter Sunday we celebrate his resurrection by having a feast & eating all the things we denied ourselves for six weeks hence Chocolate Easter eggs. Chocolate because it’s what most people give up for lent and the egg shape because it symbolises new life. This is a newish thing of course, probably created by chocolate makers. However in the olden days, the day before the start of lent people would cook up most of their food in Yorkshire puddings. Everything considered indulgent such as meats & cheese etc was cooked in the batter and eaten the day before the start of lent. It was a way of getting rid of all the rich foods before they fasted so they wouldn’t give in to temptation (Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days.) Nowadays it’s mostly a Catholic practise, some of us give up just the things we like for six weeks such as chocolate, alcohol & meat, I personally try to give up cheese. The practise of cooking foods in batter probably originated in Yorkshire and I’m sure other areas did other things to get rid of their perishable foods (no fridges or freezers in those days) We never ever put sugar in our Yorkshire puddings (I’m from Yorkshire) but the batter is the same for crepes so people might add sugar then or other things. Here’s my recipe for Yorkshire puddings: 4oz plain flour 2 lrg eggs Approx 1/2 pint of milk Salt & pepper Makes 12 & perfect every time. The egg must be at room temperature & milk not too cold. Cook at 220. Enjoy !

As a Yorkshire man I commend you on your Yorkshire's 😉 they look perfect, but we use beef dripping traditionally in the trays, make sure it's been in the oven and good hot before putting the pudding batter in, also the original way to eat them was in three different dishes on the same day, for breakfast with jam, on a savoury Sunday roast then served after in a bowl with onion gravy on them...oh and I've never added sugar, you can make the batter with beer, it makes them really puff up in the oven 😉

Wow these are OUTSTANDING. Possibly the best l've seen, and l've seen plenty. I would love it if mine came out this well. Traditionally they would be cooked with some of the fat from the beef. Most of the fat is poured out of the roasting dish and the gravy is made with flour and some of the fat left in the roasting dish on top of the stove, while the meat rests and the Yorkshire puddings cook. They're eaten with gravy and the roast meat and roast vegetables. Yum. Now l want a proper roast.

Ok, this is the table diary’s channel and their kitchen, so they can make the Yorkshire pudding with a twist how they want when they want. Maybe the traditional or original Yorkshire pudding doesn't have sugar, but this is not the only channel that’s making the recipe with sugar. To be honest, the first Yorkshire pudding video I watched didn't use sugar, but because I like most bread, pastries, or whatever calls for flour with sugar, I thought to myself to add a little sugar for a mild sweetness. Also, this person is I believe Korean, and everybody that eats Korean, Chinese, or Japanese knows that they make sweet food. AND, I love sugar!! That said, I'm making this recipe and making it with sugar and may even add some honey & walnut Philadelphia cream cheese or a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the center of mine. Ya know, make it a dessert!😋🤪 Happy New Year!!!🎊 To whoever is reading this, I pray 2022 is a better year for you, and you find peace, love, and happiness despite what we can't control.❤️

Classically, there's no sugar as it's meant as a savoury dish, often served with meats.

Nigella Lawson likes to eat them with golden syrup as a real pudding!. Love that idea too 👌

Seen that episode. She was in the middle of summer though and though she don't notice the difference when you rest the batter I don't think she realised why the recipe she used said to leave the eggs and milk to sit for 15 mins. That would have Been the resting time.

I would love this and it would be delicious but I think it would still be delicious with less than half the amount of fat in each muffin cup. I used to make these all the time and they were a big hit with my family, too.

Try a ripe tomato with a pinch of salt on top of that cream cheese, salmon and onion. So yummy. :) Thanks for the videos.
