Omg LOL. I worked retail for a couple years and I had a customer tell me a similar story. She said she was shopping somewhere and an associate treated her like this, rude as hell and condescending for no reason. So she smiled, ignored her, took whatever she said with absolute grace. Just went about her business shopping peacefully. Rounded up thousands of dollars worth of shit, paid cash (debit), had the rude associate de-censor, gift wrap, and bag every single item for her... then said "Now return them all." Made her unwrap, re-censor and return everything.

This happened to me at a high end boutique in Rome, my girlfriend and I were shopping and I was holding some of the clothes she chose for herself helping her like a good friend... I'm not exactly size skinny like her and I saw some of the ladies working laughing and talking about me... overheard one of them saying to the others that it's too small for her... guess they thought I couldn't understand body language and italian... told my friend she took all the clothes and put it on a rack and she dragged me to the next boutique and the girls there were absolutely nice. I probably bought quite a lot... we went past the previous boutique and they saw the amount of bags we had and that feeling of pride was power 😂😂😂that was my Julia Roberts moment... i look at them and in my mind I screamed... " big mistake ladies,HUGE" That still brings a smile to my face...

That happened to me in a chic boutique. I was with a friend. She was buying shoes. So, while she was trying them I saw a cute bag and went to the cashier to ask for the price (because the items had no prices on them). The owner was also there behind the counter. So, I asked for the price and the cashier told me: it is expensive. I was like what kingd of answer is that!? The owner didn't like his attitude, so he came with me, toke the bag and show it to me: what it was made of, how it was sinside etc. and then left me alone with the bag for me to decide if i wanted to buy it or not. Yeah! for some reason people who work in chic places think they can tell you if you can afford it or not.

That happened to me at a boutique store once. I don't think it was because of me being Asian, but because I wasn't wearing something noticeably expensive, like a pair of red bottom Louboutin or something. But I still bought what I wanted to buy from that store, expect at the register, I told the check out person that I didn't want to log those items under the sales associate who was rudely waiting for me. Because I don't want that person to get the commission. Instead, I just pointed out another random sales associate at the store and have the items logged under their name. Of course, I stated the reason why I wanted to do what I was about to do and threatened that I would leave empty handed if they insisted to let that rude ass bitch get the commission.

This reminds me of the time my dad picked me up after school to go shopping for a nice coat for my mother (a gift for her doing so well in recovery from a major surgery). This was when we lived in Germany for a few years bc of his job, and my mom has very OUT THERE fashion sense, think Cruella DeVille coat over Elvira dress, so we went to a fancy German store in a little town. I was in some beat up school clothes and my dad was in some basketball shorts and an orange shirt that didn't match, we both looked awful. As SOON as we stepped in, the ladies at the counter started talking amongst each other before one of them came up to us and started speed-talking in German, too quick for me to keep up with my low level German. I was switching between Spanish and English with my dad trying to translate what I understood, and I guess the mix of us being foreigners AND our clothes looking beat up made her think we were not worth the store's time, so she left us to our own devices without letting me translate and respond. She just turned and walked back to the other ladies working there. She was so cold and rude, which is unfortunately a really widespread stereotype of Germans. They're mostly really kind, but SHE was one of the bad apples. The looks they all gave us were really disheartening, and although we should've just left instead of giving them money, papi made it a point to prove her prejudice wrong, and we weren't even going to buy the coat that day!! We were just there to compare between two that we thought would suit my mom! But anyways she was a bitch so I tried on a big red coat since I am near my mother's size, it fit great, the ladies were looking at us like I was tainting the coat just by wearing it, and then papi grabbed it, headed straight to the exact clerk that treated us like shit, placed 80 euros cash on the counter and had me ask in my so-so German if he could pay the other 70 with his card. We (he) dropped 150 euros (roughly 170-180 dollars depending on the conversion) that day and grabbed a note card from the counter that was meant to write a note to whoever received the gift just so they knew we (he) dropped that money on something that wasn't even for us, and gave my mother a beautiful post-surgery gift. We're in America now. She's completely healed, she still has that big red coat, and she still looks like she could get away with murder in it. Don't judge appearances, and mind your fucking business 🖤

The cashier looked at us with most sympathetic eyes and went "but that's in English". GUYS I know it's a joke BUT BUT BUT, and understand friends, my mom has worked at the lex and 3rd location for 15 years. YES they have a union BUT STILL. If the joke is a true story or not, the staff member saying "its 800" that way and her entire attitude may be less of an attitude against the customer and more a sort of introspective thing because heres the truth. At bloomingdales they cant even check bills for forgery. Thugs and criminals go there all the time and spend dozens and dozens of phony 100 dollar bills just to show up the next day to return the item for legit bills. The commission is 9% right BUT bloomingdales has the most insane and outrageous return policy for its workers. People can return anything in any condition for up to a year no receipt and get every cent back and the staff member loses every penny of that sale. So you can literally sell 4 grand worth of merchandise over a work day then show up at 10 for the workday the next morning. Doors open at 11 and literally every item you sold the day before could theoretically get returned at that point and practically put you at negative. The drawer is also a nightmare. The way customers treat the staff is also a nightmare at times. I'm sure not all the staff are saints in fact I know they're not but people dont know how brutal it can be working at bloomeys

Plus, paid installments is for store credit card sign-ups to build client credit and boost loyalty. If anything, it was minutely classist.

I used to travel for work from time to time and when I did I received per diem so on effect my meals were free. So what I would do is eat cheaply for the three or four days but find a nice shopping center or mall nearby and buy myself something nice. It might be a tie or a shirt, or if things were really pricey, a luxurious pair of socks. I'd file for my per diem upon returning home knowing that the reimbursement would more than pay for what I may have purchased. I ended up with some really nice things to remember these trips. And, like you, the bags were a point of pride as well.

I took my daughter for a haircut to this place in Pasadena, they send somebody who speak Spanish to tell me how much it was going to be, with a sad face! I bought and paid for everything. I am not going back to that place...! /////////

It would've been better if she'd called over another clerk to give the other clerk the commission.

That woman sold you a bag that couldn't be sold by attacking your vanity. Best salesperson ever, and u think you taught her a lesson. She still got her sweet commission

@@ilookatnews9745 -- It is TOTALLY the point. Commission based employees are at the mercy of customers. Upon return of an item, the commission is negated.

@@ML-xh6rd But that was not her reason for returning it. She wanted to show off and buy something she couldn't afford just to spite the saleswoman...who then actually made a sale. Anyhow it was a stupid joke.
