So I read that including the map flag in the thumbnail gives maps more visibility/legitimacy, I didn't think of that so thanks for letting me know. Updated the thumbnail. Also help me out here I don't get it was the MAP flag made by p- dos or people trying to delegitimize the LGBT community? I'm getting mixed messages from the comments section. This whole story sent me down a rabbit hole I don't think I'm ready to go down 😅😰 Also I keep seeing people commenting about cuties, what's that? @MidoriMushrooms
@MidoriMushrooms 3 жыл бұрын
it's like that in my state as well, the law exists in conjunction with other provisions that allow teenagers to leave home early and get jobs. (I think the age is also a max of 3 years apart here too.) Like if you're 18 and they're 16 and you're 14 months apart in age that's whatever but nobody over 21 should be pushing that law anyway. >_>;

@MidoriMushrooms
@MidoriMushrooms 3 жыл бұрын
@@jadespades4237 you aren't wrong, and speaking for myself, I come from a conservative state where ideas about marriage are, uh, a bit behind... I'd agree with the consent laws (with appropriate protections, obviously) if they furthered the freedoms of the individuals (which also means better workers protections for kids who leave home early) but as that probably won't happen (especially in my backwater state,) it might be better for everywhere to just raise the age of consent to 18 anyway. or at least treat the federal age of consent like the only one worth paying attention to but that's just my take, I guess.
@Sytheduke
@Sytheduke 3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s the same in my state. Being the age of consent doesn’t immediately mean all adults can be with you. Only the people who just became adults. I’m also the same age as the creeper, and the youngest I’d date is 20.
@exantiuse497
@exantiuse497 3 жыл бұрын
Critcrab wasn't actually correct when he said that. The age of consent in Nevada is 16, the law goes as follows: "statutory sexual seduction (meaning statutory rape) means {sexual acts} committed by a person aged 18 or older with a person younger than 16". There's nothing referring to the relative ages of the parties; a 16-year-old is treated as an adult in Nevada when it comes to this. I know it sounds weird but that's how the law is. Of course that doesn't mean it isn't creepy to solicit sex from 16-year-olds, it just isn't illegal in every state He probably thought about "Romeo and Juliet laws" that some states have (but not Nevada). They mean that two people of about the same age can have sex (or the crime is less severe) if one or both are underaged

I made a confident, sassy, and flirtatious female bard character in a westmarch (which I'm happy to say no longer exists) I remember the main nuance to her was she was young (20-25 if I recall) and a virgin, she had constant offers about sex both in her backstory, and in the server, but she was saving herself for the special someone. I thought she would be a pretty fun, peppy character. And for the most part she was! Issue is... playing a female character makes some creeps wanna make that character either: A. A romantic attachment to their character, with no other definable traits Or B. Actually... yeah just A. It got to the point where a player said their character was infatuated with her and her mild flirting, and would make her his. I laughed it off and informed him she just wasn't interested as the character was kindoff a bad person... to which he said the character would do it regardless of her choices, and implied he would rape her. And that's when I lit my computer on fire

@@darkdesigns In what way is it likely that he meant it that way? This was a PC that was being described sexually in front of other people, with a DD cup size, and who was played as having overtly sexual behavior in regards to other characters. If he was running a child PC like that he'd have been kicked immediately without anyone needing to do anything. Also it's obvious that he's being mislabeled as a pedophile, at worst he's shown ephebophiliac tendencies which is actually considered socially acceptable as long as you stay in legal ages (and in a fair few places, 16 is actually perfectly fine, just not online due to digital laws). The guy's fine with jailbait, but probably not kids since nothing suggests such, and his behavior suggests he's not even particularly targeting such people specifically as much as he's just being nondiscriminatory in who he flirts with, and honestly I wouldn't put it past him to actually not know that digital AOC laws differ from local AOC laws (a lot of people actually don't) and he was told that the person he's interacting with is of legal age where she lives so it's possible he just assumed she was fair game. Dude's a complete creep and deserved to be kicked, and he's crossing a lot of lines he shouldn't be, but let's not exaggerate what he's actually guilty of since that's just unnecessary and spreads a lot of misinformation. He's still a person and his behavior warrants someone sitting him down to address where he's crossing lines, but it's not fair to demonize or dehumanize him for what are largely minor offenses (They're still offenses though, and need to be addressed).

Well, to be honest here maturity and age aren't things that go together. Because you can have someone Who is 18 and be very matute, and yet someone Who is 30 and is still a manchild. I think it's more of a case by case, because even if some think that by being by x age you should be mature, this doesn't apply to all
@amarellaharte574
@amarellaharte574 3 жыл бұрын
@@Arlesmon Actually maturity and age do go together. Not saying there aren't a lot of immature old people cause there are, but an 18 year old can only be mature for their age. That's where that ends. They simply haven't had the time for the life experiences they need to go any farther. So if you compare a mature 18 year old to a mature 30 year old well the 18 year old will seem the child they are. Same with the mature 30 year old to a mature 50 year old. Consequently only immature individuals are interested in those too much younger than themselves - they are on the same level. Not saying that's wrong just that's how it works.

The thing about pedophiles is that they THINK/CLAIM to care about maturity and that their infatuation is about love but the problem with that is that sexual attraction =/= love. Most men conflate the two and that leads to issues. Not saying the men in question aren't to blame because I'm sure they've all been told this but they refuse to listen. OP seems to be very forgiving and optimistic about this person's change of behavior. While I do not want to paint in broad strokes, I have interacted with a lot of people in my life who are manipulative in this very creepy kind of way. Everything this guy did would be extremely cringe inducing if he were doing it with someone his own age, and still a red flag for sure, but with a minor? I do not predict this man will ever change his behavior. Not to be overly pessimistic, but anyone I've ever met who has done this sort of thing has gone on to be the type of person who routinely abuses their power if they have any, and they rarely change for the better. My manager at my first job was this kind of a simp, and especially after being dumped by a woman who had indulged his infantile behavior for far too long, he got much worse. The last time I heard from him he was sliding into my roommate's DMs (she was engaged, and also a decade younger than him). He was my manager at my job because his dad, who was well into his 50s, was the owner of the restaurant I worked at. We would get a lunch rush from the highschool down the street, which had an open campus lunch hour. I was 19 at the time, and this old man would make the creepiest comments about the girls who would come into the store. I didn't know how to respond, because I was young myself, and I needed the money from the job. But the worst part was when he would imply that he would try to have sex with the girl if he could, but he couldn't. Then he would imply that I could, and that I should. It made my bones shiver. Once I got out of high school I had zero interest in dating anyone who was still in high school, and I would never have dated anyone under 18. But he casually in a professional environment would say gross stuff like that all the time. I'm certain that his son will turn out a very similar way, and I don't think this is a behavior that one simply decides to stop. I think there is something seriously wrong with people like this, and I don't know what kind of help could fix it, but I know it doesn't just fix itself.

I want to believe In the OP that the guy can change behavior and change for the better. And while it's not likely, there is a possibility that can happen. And for the son of the other story you mentioned. That might happen or might not, because while it's true that parental behavior can affect the mindset of a child, They're other factores that can be atributed, so that son can be a better person and break the cycle if certain decisions and self reflexión is applied

I'm not worried about their kids turning out predators, I'm more worried about their kids becoming victims. The problem is with enough grooming yesterdays victim will become today's predator. I've dated a pedophile like that, and I've seen a similar situation to my own way out on youtube in the form of the Onision and Kai debacle... thank goodness the man who groomed me only succeeded in getting me to help him target a single friend and didnt have a large online following. These people dont change out of nowhere, these people can go to prison for it and literally be chemically castrated and tortured by their fellow inmates, then still think diddling a child is a worthwhile risk.
@ckillgore
@ckillgore 3 жыл бұрын
@@oliviabean8264 I mean I also know from personal experience that while victims of sexual grooming and or assault are statistically more likely to continue that pattern of behavior, it is not an inevitability. I myself was victimized at an extremely young age, which has always made me very sensitive and aware of grooming type behaviors. For a while as a teen I was very hesitant to engage romantically with others, being aware of the cycle of abuse, and thinking that I was somehow ruined and could never have a healthy romantic life. This was not the case turns out. I understand how and why victims become predators, but I also know that at a certain point a person must make a choice about who they want to be. I was able to recognize, even as a child, that I did not want to do what was done to me to anyone else. It may have stunted my growth as person for a while, because I constantly walked around already seeing myself as an awful person, and blaming myself for what happened to me, but after years of therapy things are quite different. All of that is to say that, although this man's father outwardly joked about pedophilia, I do not think his kid will turn out a pedophile. I just see simp-y behaviors from him that are not dissimilar from the ones described in this story. Although he definitely obsesses on girls quite younger than himself, they at the very least are not children. From generation to generation, the cycle can be broken, or even made just not quite as bad. His dad may have been a full on predator, but I don't believe the kid is, he is just kinda a shitty guy. From predator to victim I know for a fact the cycle can be broken. But as far as someone who is already a predator, I have yet to see a reliable and repeatable process for rehabilitating (is that the right word?) these people. I'm sure there must be a way, through therapy, determination, and commitment to change. I just don't know what that process looks like for a child predator, or even if any of them want to change. My family insists to me that my abuser, a family member, has changed for the better, and I simply cannot believe it or interact with that person. However I think as a society it is worth investing resources into intervention first, and researching a real path towards rehabilitation with these people. Obviously the priority is to protect victims first, but as a culture we keep raising people who turn out to be pedophiles and rapists, and we need to find a real way of making that stop. I don't have any answers, but I know humans can do incredible things, and not raping/grooming children is a pretty low bar. I think we can get there.

@@ckillgore very logical perspective, but I do disagree with one thing, and that is when you say that you do not know if any of them want to change. I feel like there are many of them that do not see something wrong with what they do, but I also think many of them do. I remember reading a yahoo answers question of a man asking how to kill himself without feeling any pain. His father was a pedophile, and he began to realize that he was becoming one too. He already started to engage in the behavior, and decided that it would be best for others if he did killed himself. I think that part of the problem is that we are not open enough to the problem, but focusing on the act. We have villified this act, and for a very good reason. The people who commit these atrocities should not be forgiven (I am very sorry that your family does not see your perspective), but pedophilia is a mental illness that should be discussed more openly. We have gotten to the point where no sane person would ever do it, so now we need to focus on getting the people that will, the help they need. Unless you believe all pedophiles should be killed, which is a perspective. I'm sorry if my comments seem disrespectful to you, and what happened. My goal is not to try to make light of your situation, but to found ways to ensure it does not happen to others.

I was in a world of warcraft guild where a girl joined, she was the only girl in the guild, all the guys flipped out in voice chat but things were normal beyond that. Then one guy used the information she gave in conversations to find her on facebook. I happened to enter discord when they were doing this hearing them say her name and stuff as she sounds like she is about to cry. She starts laughing when they explain what happened but I felt very uncomfortable and said so. I was really upset that someone in their 40's creeped on a 18 year old girl like that. I became the bad guy. I haven't really played wow since then, it was really weird to have all these people I thought were my friends immediately turn on me for being a decent person.

It was actually a lot of fun for everyone involved, and led to great RP and plot lines to help repair his shattered psyche. But I agree people do a lot of mental illnesses and even physical deformities or injuries for flavor or to make their character seem "cool" or "edgy" and that irritates me. If it makes sense, and you're willing to actually accept and roleplay the hardships someone might go through then hell yeah, go for it. If not, just... just stop.

When I was 17, I made a flirtatious joke to my coworker (Who was a neckbeard) . He told me in the mic that I "shouldn't have done that" cause I gave him a boner. I was 17, he was 34. After that, he acted more weird towards me, and I got so scared, I told my boss what happened. She said that no matter what I did, he took it to far, KNOWING I was a minor. No matter what you do, if the person keeps going, and it makes you uncomfortable, you NEED to tell someone. Whether it's them and just say, "Hey, you're taking it too far, I'm no longer comfortable" or telling a higher up, it's important to tell that you are uncomfortable. If you make a sexual joke and they say "I didn't like that," apologize and don't do it again. Everyone needs to feel safe, and if you don't, you need to talk about it. She should ave just gone with 15 for the age, that way it didn't matter which stage you were from, you would still be underage. A lot easier to find out if he is going after minors. I ha e met people who have been lured by people like Howard IRL here in Canada, where the age of consent is 16, and not with any restrictions. So a 16, 26, 56 or even an 86 could be parking and no reprecussions could be taken. (Canada use to be 14 too) But again posing as legal age where you are pretending to live does change aspects. I would ha e just gone with 15. Clearly underage and he probably would have still taken the bait. Probably could have gotten rid of him even quicker.

If he said he was 15, the creep might have given up if he feared the criminal sentence, but continued harassing other young (but of legal age) people on the server. The point was to get evidence against him to smoke him out, and posing as a girl of legal age was the most surefire way to do it. Granted, he probably would've gone for it even if she was 15, people that only think with their genitals don't tend to care about the law, but removing the legal obstacle was the best bet to get him banned

One possible way is to find friends to be interested in it together, so at the very least you can band together in visiting a site or another, and you can help look out after one another. Another is to not mention you're a girl at the beginning. Yeah, it sucks, and in an ideal world, everybody would be free to be whoever they are online, but this is not that world. If you can find a place with enough women players/gamers ( read around the other posts in the community), then that's usually a sign that the place has a healthy community and/or moderation approach. I happen to work in the medical field, and it's VERY unforgiving about stuff like that, at least where I live. If you have anything related to violent or sexual crimes against your name you're not getting through medical school, let alone find employment. Doubly do if the crimes involved minors

As someone with some form of DID, you can almost tell this person watched Split. Jokes aside, that's.. Not really now the disorder works. It's not some edgy "I turn evil when mad uwu" disorder, it's caused by childhood trauma at such a young age your personality never properly develops. No one drafts a five or six year old, man. I'm less than two minutes in and this man has already lost all credibility..

They most often are not, not really. But the over-complimenting and constant torrent of positive attention *_can_* be highly manipulative behaviour often called love bombing and is often used by the types of abusive actors you can easily imagine yourself. This, too, can sometimes be completely benign depending on the case, though for this I'd have serious difficulties believing so. Dude sounded like he needed an appointment with Hansen.

You'd be surprised how some people weasel their way out of situations if their crimes aren't well documented, especially if they have friends in high places. One of my sisters got hit on by a creep at work and took it to the girl who handled HR stuff, but she was a friend of the creep and had his back, and jack shit was done about it. That being said, sounds like Howard was not popular and they probably didnt need to go to these extremes. (Also, what OP did was technically on thin ice, legally speaking. It's why TCAP got shut down in the first place. Not saying what OP did was *wrong,* though, in fact, I rather approve, even if, as you say, it was rather convoluted.)

The prblem is many people are acuse with no proof, like me for exm, a girl acuse me of sending her dick pics, which was false she was just salty that she was killing members of the party because she was chaotic good and harley quinn and I stop her many times, thank Ra I was able to calling her out on her bullshit.

I saw this when it was originally on Neckbeardia's video which was taken down for some reason. I'll be the first to say, since I'm sure the others will be coming soon, I'm a member of the server this took place on. There was so much other shit going on, most of it being "that guy" syndrome aside from the creepy perv stuff that Howard did. I was one of the few people who actively spoke with him to help try to help him change, not only his in game actions but his out of character stuff too. I'd love to list off what exactly he did but this would be a huge post. I just want to say that despite all of his actions, he was wanting to change since he is self aware in the aftermath of what he does but doesn't seem like hes making a lot of progress on that from what I could see. I'm sure he'll read my comment and get mad at me on discord but... He kinda acts like this on League of Legends too. He'll get solo killed or caught out and then try to justify it and make it seem like him getting killed was actually good or part of his master plan. Makes me super tilted lmao.

I'm pretty sure 16 is a legal age in multiple different countries, including my own. The guy was most definitely a sick ticket, but it doesn't have that same impact as I've known friends that dated legal, much older guys at that age. The OP was also rather weird as well and just gave off vibes that nobody was really innocent in this entire scenario. This story just kind of made me shiver in disgust from both of their perspectives.

age of consent in canada is 16, (canada's my homeland so it's the only one i know about) meaning you can consent with somebody 2 years older but anything older than that is illegal until you're 18

I got to confess something. I always had a predatory behavior, but never acted and always knew it was wrong, so everytime I had a tought about doing things I should not do, I closed my eyes and said to myself "this is wrong, you should not think this kind of thing" and then turned my head away from whatever was that made me think that way. I had really long talks asking people I trusted for help, and today, for the first time, I was able to hear a story about predatory behavior and not be turned on by it, and actually feeling angry toward the villain. I can feel cured, and I can only thank my friends and family for the help they gave me. Now I can finally act with reason, and be a better men. Hearing this guys storys I can only feel sorry for him, because it's a mental disease and has treatments, but the only way to be cured of this kind of behavior is knowing that you are wrong and trying to change, but most man hears more their dicks then their brains, and end up living in this closed mind world where all their weird fantasies are normal... I feel sorry for him, but also feel angry about the things he had done.
