Hi April!! Welcome to our fiber friendly community!! Your projects are just beautiful! Crocheting for 30 years, I’m sure there is much you can teach! I started crocheting with my grandma when I was 11. I kind of stopped after my kids were born and picked it back up 3 yrs ago due to Covid! I remember why I loved it so much, but now there’s just so much more variety of yarn!! Nice to meet you and I look forward to getting to know more about you!!🧶❤️🤗

Thanks Tracie, Kind of the same here. I learned as a kid, stopped for a bit, crocheted some more in my late 20's, stopped for a bit and then picked it back up about 2 years ago. It's just such a nice, relaxing hobby! Thank you for watching!

WELCOME! I have been crocheting for almost 70 years!! and if I was younger, I would start a channel as well! but....dear hubby and I are 'retired' now so I have kept myself busy with the art of crochet (thanks to my grandmother and mother as well) and still selling my goodies on 2 'well known platforms' for 23 years now! I am also going through all of my totes full of crocheted items and donating them to places like Prayer Shawl Ministries, Project Linus, local nursing homes, etc. I also have been going through my stash and trying to bring it down as there is no way I will use it all before the good Lord comes to get me! ha! but....I still LOVE visiting the local yarn shops and splurging here and there as well...GOOD LUCK with your channel. I will be watching you!

Welcome to the family! I do enjoy seeing wip's and fo's very much. You crochet beautifully. Someday i will be that talented. I also love to watch tutorials. I may not always make the item but i like to see how it is created. I think it is great that you are not ashamed of your yarn stash. People might try to shame you for it. I have seen some tearing down of some beautiful people because of what they have. I look forward to future videos and tutorials.
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
Thanks Connie. Yeah, I'm not ashamed of it. I think people that do that kind of thing have some gap or void in their life and I feel sorry for them. I realize that everyone creates and crafts differently. Some may like a minimal stash or only buy yarn on a per project basis. I like to have lots available to see what is calling to me. The good thing is, I'm pretty sure there are no rules in crochet :D

It's fun to see your site. I definitely identify about the ability of my yarn to sneak continually from the storage bins to surround me as I sit watching TV and working on a specific project. No matter how often I put the skeins of yarn back into their little cubby holes, they continue to escape and find me.😂

Hi from Miami Florida! Love your blanket it just got on my to make list. I totally agree with you that weaving in ends are the bane of my existence and that there is no such thing as too much yarn. Wow 25 WIP's that is impressive. Off the top of my head, I have about 10 WIP's and a zillion things in my to make list. I keep saying I'm not starting a new project till I finish a WIP. That does not work too well. Looking forward to your next videos.
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
That's my problem too. I get so many great ideas and I want to at least "start" them to see if they are going to come out the way I think they are. I just know if I set a goal to tame down my WIP pile I'll be able to actually get more projects completed. Just working on it this week I've got 4 Finished Objects to show you guys in the next podcast, and I might even get to five before I film. So that's fun too!

Hello from Texas! I live in a small place that tends to get rather dusty at times. So I've purchased 18"L x 15"W x 9"H clear storage bags for clothes or larger blanket items from Amazon. I've got 90% of my yarn there. The other is in one for those plastic drawer bureaus, mostly yarn I just wanted to get and see what it was like (Malabrigo, Rowan, etc) and planned projects. For my WIPs, I have purse storage bags. They're clear on one side and canvas on the other. These all stack up nicely and with the zippers at the top, the items are easy to get to. All your items are very pretty! I am looking forward to the C2C pattern! I love working it and since I do scarves for a local charity, I always need new patterns so the kids get something that doesn't look like anyone else's. Looking forward to more podcasts!
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
Oh nice! I'll have that c2c shell pattern coming out next week I hope and I'm also filming a neat textured shell pattern that would be great for shawls / scarfs. It's on my "to do" list for one of my next WIP's and I'll decide if it will be a scarf or a shawl depending which yarn I pick and how much of it I have so keep an eye out for that as well!

Nice podcast! Best wishes for success. Re: Bernat Velvet yarn. I used it to make a small filet crochet blanket and as usual I washed the blanket before giving to the intended recipient. Good thing I did. The yarn wormed horribly. I ended up giving it to my sister for a dog blanket. I’ve used chenille type yarn in the past and experienced worming. I’m only sorry that I didn’t trust my gut and go with a different yarn.
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
Good to know. Did you use the washing machine or hand wash it? I've always hand washed the projects with velvet in it so I'm wondering if this is something that happens in the machine?
@itzims5248 Жыл бұрын
@@craftinginthenight I machine washed it, but worming isn't caused by machine washing. It's the nature of many chenille yarns and it's caused by the way the yarn is constructed. Supposedly, it's better behaved with crochet vs knitting, but I've done both and they were equally bad. The yarn swatch in Michael's was actually woven on a loom - that was my first indication there would be trouble in paradise. 😂

Hey Jen thanks. I haven't been able to find a solid color the same weight and texture that would go with that yarn but now that you mention it, maybe I could use the butterfly yarn to make some beautiful flower motifs and then something like Bernat Bundle Up to turn those motifs into squares or hexagons. I thought I might have. It is so beautiful on both sides. I do love that yarn. If I ever get it again I think I would buy 4 or 5 skeins of each color. I'm working on the pattern and tutorial for the baby blanket this weekend so I'll try to have it up in the next week or so. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed your video. I really like your color choices in all the blankets. What on earth are wips? I've been crocheting for only a few years and never heard of that.

WIP stands for Work In Progress. Gotta love acronyms!
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
I forget sometimes that not everyone uses the same terminology. I'm still learning as I go too. Here are my most commonly used acronymns: WIP - Work in Progress FO - Finished Object UFO - Un Finished Object (I use this to describe projects I have started but am not actively working on) FROG - When you undo the work you've crocheted. Usually because you see you made an error several stitches or even rows back in a project but on occasion I have frogged entire WIP's that I decided I didn't want to work on any more so I wanted to be able to use the yarn for something else. Thank you so much for watching Judith!

Thanks! Love everything. Hope you don’t get offended: skein is pronounced “skane.”
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
Not offended at all. I do know that according to the dictionary "skane" is correct. I pronounce it the way I learned from my mom and grandma over 30 years ago :D Thank you for watching!

Hello. I am new to your page. I REALLY WANT to do the Shells blanket. Is that color one ball? Like a variegated yarn? I am having NO luck finding that beautiful color. Of course with my short memory, moving back and forth from your vlog to trying to find that beautiful color, sure isn't working for me. That blanket is simply stunning. I am not sure if your saying that you can't get that color or what. Could you please give me a hand in finding that color. I imagine I will be your biggest pain because i simply can't remember back & forth. It's like i drop a stitch and can't find it. Grrrrrrrr. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hi Sherrie, that is Lion Brand Ice Cream Yarn in the colorway "Bunny Tracks". You can see it on their website here: bit.ly/42UfYzL The color is readily available I only had two skeins of it though so the blanket came out small. Since I'm trying to use up the yarn I have I just didn't want to buy more to make it bigger! Hope that helps! Thank you for watching!

The link for juicy fruits & whipped cream is broken & do you have a pattern for the shell c2c blanket?
@craftinginthenight Жыл бұрын
Thanks for letting me know about the Juicy Fruits pattern link Georgia. I updated the description but you can find it here: bit.ly/3VY2alg. I should have the C2C shell blanket pattern published next week. I am working on filming and writing it this weekend. Thank you for watching!
