Dewey Martin was the drummer of Buffalo Springfield, who got ‘cut’ when they reformed. He didn’t mind not being a part of the new band. He always referred to it as “ Crosby Steals the Cash.”

The fact that they only found residue in his pipe wasn’t the reason he got five years, considering that at the time of his arrest he was wanted on federal drug charges and had been on the run… they accidentally left that part out!

The problem was he was in a bar . I was in texas in the late 1970's . Every bar had a sign stating " Five years in prison and up to $25,000 fine for bringing a gun into a bar " Alcohol and guns do not mix , especially in Texas .

@@mikesimonian484 he did a lot of speaking tours, I saw him about 1990, was a very different story that year. Saw a clip from end of life, where he said nobody from the past was speaking to him. Too bad all that rigorous honesty in recovery didn’t seem to turn out as I had come to hope after hearing him speak. May he be at peace now.

You should get 50 years for saying that!!! It was a non violent conviction for residue. I got 2 felony convictions for just enough for me to get one blast and it has ruined my life still after 10 years. I hope to God you get to experience at least a month locked up I don't think you could handle it

Keep in mind, this was the state (Texas) that used to put people in prison for years for marijuana possession. If this happened to you or me, I can guarantee that we would serve closer to 5 years than 5 months... Unless, of course, you happen to be a rock star. Alas, I am not. ✌

He was going to do a free concert at Doheny Beach (Orange County CA) with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. David was free basing cocaine on the 405 freeway on his way to the concert. He crashed.

When you go to Walmart are any grocery store and if you put it in the buggy you have to pay for it the same thing with us out here working you put it in the buggy you will have to pay for it I run into this all the time one lady told me well would you paint my dog house I look for the dog house I never saw a dog house p I thought she was going to buy one I finished the job and she said what about my dog house I said where is it she pointed at the garage this is how people would treat you if you let them I slapped a coat of paint on that dog house which was a garage and got the hell out of there and learned a valuable lesson

It was before a Beatle Press Conference at Capital Records! They met for a minute. Lennon mentioned David during the press conference & Crosby milked that for the rest of his life! They might have hooked up 1 more time briefly at a Club in London. When the Bryds Toured England. But Crosby made it sound like they were close. What an EGO!

When CSN came to Portland (~2015?) I went to see them. I asked Crosby to please sign the CSN LP I had brought with me. He simply sneered and walked away. During their performance, Crosby shout, more than once, for the audience to "Shut-the-F***-Up!" There were no hecklers present. I completely changed my opinion of David Crosby that night...not for the better. Anyway...he's dead now.
