I have an L/XL airframe and I had to mix and match the left overs from my OpsCore Maritime. It was tough because this helmet is really snug. It took like 40 minutes to dial in the perfect fit while making it breathable around my head. That's the thing I like about the airframe is that vent. My MT always got too hot and I had headaches from all that stored heat in the summer time.

I had the 4D pads with the TW BOA Cam for my Airframe. Pads just seem to puffy and made the helmet sit to high on my head. I went with TW Cloudnine pad. I think you just have to figure out what works for your grape. Great review!

Peltor comtac iii single cable variant with usually a single or double ptt from sylnx, or tea, or the standard single mil surplus 94 ptt that’s kind of a boxy config

I couldnt tell you I sold mine about a year ago and for a .2lb probably not you probably wouldnt even notice it

@@LegionPreparedness I ended up buying a Large Airframe and found it all-day comfortable, even as someone who has never worn a helmet. I’d be comfortable with another 3oz, but I could see how after an IR strobe, a few tasklights, and ear pro + comms gear, one might find the 3oz weight savings worth it, but my helmet loadout is not there yet. Once again, my experience is very limited, but in hindsight, I’d pick the ATX over the regular Airframe and enjoy the peace of mind that level IIIA protection confers. Ideally, I’d get both. One for breaching/CQB, and one for nighttime or long-term use.

@@goose33 you’re all good that’s what I’m here for and the helmet should come with some inexpensive pads, however I would look at team Wendy epic or epic air pads and the boa chin strap system. It’ll make the helmet fit and feel more comfortable

@@goose33 I’m honestly not familiar with their new system for sizing. When I originally bought the helmet they had small / medium and large / extra large. So to give you a better answer you’ll have to look at their sizing chart because of the independent size options they have now. When I bought it they ran a little large. My best recommendation is get the measurements as close as possible and double check team Wendy sizing to get a near perfect fit. It’ll take a little research but you should be able to match everything up as close as possible .. worse case scenario crye has a fairly good customer service system and if it doesn’t fit well when you put it together you can return it and get a different size

I went almost 6 years in the military without knowing that. I thought it was one of the coolest attention to detail bits of knowledge ive ever learned! I haven't heard anything yet but im sure there's a story out there!
