We need a shorthand term for when a club sacks a manager and hires someone with not just a different tactical approach, but massively conflicting with what the previous manager had done and what the club had recruited for. Several of those mentioned in this video. Palace, swap Vieira for Hodgson. Spurs, swap Poch for Jose, and looking to swap Conte for Poch. Everton and Man United have been doing it for a decade. Needs a shorthand term.

Something like Galacticos but not. Referencing MBA-driven signing of players and mangers, with no actual idea of how they'll fit into any tactical system or culture, but will generate headlines from the prestige of the name of signing alone.

As a Tottenham fan I'm conditioned to feel bad after every season. It's not a new thing. However Poch did something very special, he made us hopeful and Daniel Levy ruined that. There was also a sense that Poch felt he could do better than Spurs at that time. After all these time right now Daniel levy should understand what he had in Poch and Poch should understand team like Tottenham is the place where his philosophy can translate. Bring back Poch, stars have aligned.

Feels like a lot of the players that were listed as 'poor back-up options' were exactly the sort of players that played regularly under Hodgson, when he finished with only 4 fewer points in his final season than Vieira did last season, in that 'amazing' season Palace had under him. 1 win in 16, 3 games in a row without a shot on target... You can certainly see why they thought it was time to move on from the 'Premier League Legend as a manager' experiment, I think the reaction would be quite different if it were Lampard or Gerrard that was sacked, but in reality it is the same profile of manager who got the job due to his standing as a player and it has not worked.

Guys What's the difference between a "league team" & a "cup team"? People often say that Pep Guardiola is a league manager & Mourinho is a cup manager. I'm guessing this is because its primarily where their success lies with their teams over an extended period of time even though they can win both.🤔
@2639theboss Жыл бұрын
Mourinho appears adept at building one-off game plans which takes full advantage of his opponents weaknesses and his teams strengths. To a degree rarely if ever seen. Pep appears to be extremely skilled at establishing and implementing a play style for a team that maximizes their points in the long-run, but doesnt always give his team the best chance in single games against top teams. His style is probably just not very adaptable.

If bruno should have been sent off and you're concerned about the inconsistencies then that's fine. As long as you also agree that casemiro shouldn't have been sent off vs southampton because similar and harsher challenges have gone unpunished before or at most given a yellow instead of a red. It works both ways. And bruno wasn't the same situation as mitrovic since bruno shoved the referee as he was in the way (it was wrong of bruno to do it) while mitrovic literally pulls him back a bit to stop the referee to face him. But still if you think bruno deserves a red fine, you should apply the same to the casemiro situation.

If you're gonna go down that road mate, you'll find that Utd have received more gifts from referees than they've been penalized. Fulham should have had a penalty in this match itself.

For every red card Casemiro shouldn't have received, Mctominay has gotten away with a wrestling move on opponents with just a caution. or Bruno coming in late & with no intention to play the ball. Didn't he win a penalty for stamping someone's foot last season? You won the game, just get on with it. Don't try to take the moral high ground in the refereeing debate. There's no version of it where Utd come out on top.
@aakarmamtora3470 Жыл бұрын
@@Never_Wr0ng If we go down your route then you can also make an argument that united have been on the wrong side of the decisions more than the "gifts" you mention. It just depends on your agenda. At least I try to remove my bias and I'm not suggesting united are the only victims every team is.

Just to counter the point around 31:35 on Tottenham's 'weak' mentality, it certainly can be a mentality issue even if the team largely changes. As a Chelsea fan I can empathise as we have the same issue. I'm no psychological expert, but it seems natural that human psychology means that the club atmosphere and culture is pervasive and contagious. Even with many changes, so long as influential members of the dressing room existed in a previous era of 'weak' mentality, it naturally carries over into the next era so long as these members exert their influence. It really takes a large transformation of key influential characters to completely change the club culture and that comes from top-down and bottom-up in the club hierarchy.
