This video is a quick run-through of the current scene we are using to live stream our services. We have 16 inputs (but this is expandable to all 32 if needed) various busses and FX being used to get the sound we want for our audience. This is designed as an overview for my team, but I have had a few calls wondering how we have everything setup, so here is the overview.

Are you using this console for FOH also?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
This scene / setup was in place when I was using the console not as a broadcast console (no FOH). That endeavor only lasted about 45 days and then we went back into our normal worship experience (post-2020 virus). My current setup we do use one console for FOH, Monitors and Broadcast with one technician. I do a multi-video. Real down of that setup in the playlist below. I’ve also linked the first video in that playlist which is the overview. Overview Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l57bh42HZ7OUfJY Playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLsW5UVUiB1ry8bnPJ5q8fR93KHW2TPKpg

Thanks for this; it really simplified things. One additional step I added was to use two different outputs that came from bus 9 and 10 through Matrix 1 and 2, and I made sure to set the mute in the SENDS tab for Bus 9 and 10 to +8 dB. That way, our wirecast software was able to get a decent signal without us having to raise the level in the house feed.

That’s some smart thinking. I have some other videos that discuss various options to get the stream level up, but you found a solution which is great.

@@AllamHouse One thing though. Once I change this, how do I make it permanent? I have to reset everything upon power down and power up. Is there a SAVE step I've missed?
@AllamHouse

You need to save the scene. Find the ‘scene’ section on the middle-right of the console. Hit the view button, and page over to ‘scenes’. Here you can use the encoder buttons to save your scene. And recall it easily. The console should be setup to lower your main volume upon boot-up, but everything else should stay the same as it was when you powered down, unless you changed a setting.

Hi, thank you for infor. Can have the present of you vocal channel available to download . Like what rack effect you used , So I can load on my vocal channel on X32.
@AllamHouse

On that setup, I was running insert De-esser, channel EQ, channel Comp, vocal bus had Ultimo comp insert, then slight bus EQ. I’m actually getting ready to do a full run through of my current setup since I no longer have a full console for streaming.

Is it possible to simply wire from the XLR outputs to a laptop for VMix (using a chord that goes XlR to 3.5 mm jack)?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do that (or use the 1/4” AUX Out to 3.5mm) and it offloads the processing time the computer. I prefer using the USB route, but this will work.

I find it interesting that you're basically only using one type of reverb (with the exception of the delay+reverb). I can tell you like your compressors and limiters and you know exactly what they do, but, and this is speaking as someone that doesn't really have any experience with the X32 but does with DAWs and such, you might want to play around with using different types of reverbs on your mix too. A hall or plate reverb sounds killer on drums and gives them a ton of space, whereas something like a reflection-style (room) reverb can make electric guitars that sound a little dry/digital/boxy sound more lifelike and open - bonus points if it has an IR loader or reverb designer where you can really dial it in to sound like, IDK, the Byrd! You didn't go into the acoustic too much except for the 13ms delay. I dunno if you have the ability to control that with an LFO, but varying that slowly (like 2hz slowly) between 13ms and, say, 20ms would make the doubler effect sound a little less digital/programmed. You could run into some phasing issues though, especially with listeners on phones with mono speakers - you'd just have to try it out. A very slight vibrato (or chorus at full mix) on the second could help the pitch sway enough to not phase too. You could also save the main channel strip by sending the guitar to a bus (thereby duplicating it) and popping on a digital delay with full mix and no feedback, dialed in at that 13ms, then any alternative EQ to shape it. And, I'm sure you're already doing it, but i've always found that, when running two acoustics (which you're kind of doing here), giving one a treble boost and bass cut and vice versa on the other helps them stand apart in a mix. Since you have more EQ control, you could even do little narrow Q EQ boosts on each and cut the corresponding frequency on the other. But it looks good dude. I love this kind of stuff.

I love the tech you've got in this comment. When I mix in a DAW, I do use alternate reverbs for different sources, but this streaming concept is a little more of a challenge (for me) in that I'm limited to only 4 FX racks for sends and 4 for inserts. I found that using a similar reverb for band and vox (in this environment) builds some consistency for the listener, but still gives me the ability to alter EQ and settings between the two. The acoustic trick of doubling the signal is kind of a bare bones approach to what you mentioned. It allows me a preset "double" without taking up an FX rack slot. I'll do some playing samples in some upcoming videos for sure. Be Good, Keep making great music.

thank you Allam, great work as usual. do you EQ or Compress FX returns?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 4 жыл бұрын
I do EQ my FX returns and on rare occasion I will use some compression, but that’s typically when I’m trying to create something unique. My standard scene and engineers would only have EQ on the effects.

Can you use your house mix as your live stream on version 3. Is there anyway to mirror your house sound without having to update to version 4
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can still do the Matrix and send it out your USB. The difference is that V3 you have to set groups of 8 for outputs where V4 you can do individual which offers more flexibility.
