Let's cut open some "Golden Fossils"! These two different fossils both have pyrite in them, which looks like gold, it's fools gold! We start this video off with cutting two ancient fossilized oysters, gryphaea. After getting them cut we get started on the polishing process of those and the other cut ammonites that I have. All pieces show signs of being pyritized and is such a phenomenal bonus to these gorgeous polished fossils!

I watch a lot of Rockhound hunt/cut videos, and am learning a lot. Theo stabilizes ammonite and ammolite before polishing. Maybe that would help with the flaking before cutting? Thanks for your videos. They look awesome. 😊

I always wondered what an oyster fossil looked like inside. So cool! Never imagined pyrite! I wonder if any of those little white spots are a small pearl that started. Nice job polishing on such delicate material! 😊

Howdy, another random thought. Maybe get a light diffuser if you don't already have one? Would help a ton with the glare from the light when trying to show off the cool parts. Won't get as hard of a reflection

My favorite fossil tends to be corals. Too bad your oysters broke. They're limestone, right? It can be pretty flaky. The pyrite is prolly what saved them. Pretty. ❤️🏏🎸
