6:22 not a train station, it is Fortuna sport arena. it is serving primarily as ice-hoceky stadium but also basketball matches are played there, used to be home arena for HC Sparta Praha (HC as hockey club), has capacity over 13'000

There are two train stations close to where you were. Nádraží Holešovice, the stop you came from. That's the third largest in Prague and then Bubny, which is small but is being massively redeveloped as part of the expresses railway to the airport. Nice to watch the video. I live very close to where you said you wanted to buy a flat ;) Can confirm it's a great neighborhood.

17:49 on Haje there is a statue of only two czech, or more precisely said, two czechoslovak astronauts, from which only one of them was actually in space back in 1978 - Vladimir Remek. The other one was a substitute for Remek. Btw. Remek was a first astronaut in space which nationality was outside of USA or Russia (Soviet Union/USSR). ESA (European Space Agency) refers to him as the first european astronaut in history... and just to ad, in the close proximity to the metro station Haje was a multiplex cinema, called Galaxie (galaxy)...

Fun fact: When they build an extension from Nádraží Holešovice, they used an unique method to build the tunnel. The station is above the river level, the tunnel is very close to surface, so they build the tunnel next to the river in a dry dock and then they let it float to its place. 15:19 - the only "cultural park" nearby is Chodovská tvrz (the Chodov fort), charming little circular chateau/castle in a big park, used for cultural events. The underpass you are filming leads to the path to it, the park being the trees across the road. Do not feel bad, I could not find it for the first time either, and I'm practically a local.

It is just random neighbourhood with people´s gardens :D maybe somebody just mistakenly put it into google maps. I went there myself from Chodov shopping centre but .. nope .. just people and locals with houses :D .. calm though from the city and highway

The Prague metro is under maintenance during the weekend I think, but also some stations are getting reconstructed thats why some stations are closed. But during night when the metro is not opened thats when the sort of normal maintenance happens.

Yeh those stations were closed for just over a week for track repairs 🚂 it was only a slight inconvenience, replacement buses were fairly efficient really…just a bit cramped and sweaty 🥵 in the middle of summer 😆

For locals living in apartment buildings, Vyšehrad is exactly the "Prague castle for locals" Cuz it is for normal prices (there is a pub on the edge overlooking the bridge but you probably didn't go there. No crowds, just chill. We actually don't like the "feel" of the city. Parks are the best place to spend time and just be quiet in nature. Locals just don't go to the centre. You experienced more and better Prague than most tourists ever do :D loved the video and I hope you enjoyed it as well.... And yeah. Replacement buses for metro are always overcrowded and sweaty... Especially during summer... Horrible experience :D ... So... Sorry for that but another local experience you went through :D

Yeh this was one of my favourite videos to film, in fact all 3 metro lines of Prague were fun days, you get a real variety of things to see across the city travelling on each of the lines 🚇. I loved Vyšehrad, the atmosphere there was so chilled compared to the more touristy areas…I can definitely see why locals would prefer to go there 🌳😍 & yeh the replacement buses were less fun (I get sweaty easily and hate it haha 😰) but like you said, it’s all part of the experience. 😎

You skipped stations Pankrác (Prague Manhatan) and folloving station Budějovická which is on the end of that area LiNE B - is more interresting - various verry different areas along the line. LINE A goes mostly through all -the touristic hotspots

And you also skipped statio n Hlavní Nádraží = main railway station - which is the largest building in Art Noveaustyle in the Czech republic - ita masive huge building and now after total outside renovation....!!!! He also skipped Roztyly, it's very nice walk thru forest from Roztyly to Chodov metro station, I've been there few months ago and I was shocked how well these places look now compared to how it was when I lived there around 2002. There are another interesting buildings he didn't mention, it looks like he is interested in architecture, so when he is talking about church at Vltavská, there is one of the most typical buildings in functionalist style from 20s or 30s right behind him and similar example is Veletržní palác in Holešovice. Many people wrongly think it's communist architecture, but these buildings are like 90 years old and still look pretty modern.

Maybe skipping a few stations is a good excuse for me to visit Prague again and go down Line C the other way 😝🤣. Yeh it can be easy to miss things when filming/talking/navigating 🤓 & the videos are sort of unplanned, I usually have a rough idea of what might be there or which stops might be better to get off at…but often I’m winging it, which is part of the fun for me 😝

If you want to sound more like Praguer, always call it a C line, not red line, only villagers and people from Brno call it a red line. 😀 I think that our trust system with no gates is the best, it's like that in most of countries in former habsburg monarchy + germany and it's the best, when I visit some other countries where they have gates or those stupid e-tickets with chips, it super annoying and I walk much more there to avoid lines for tickets or gates. Here in Czechia, we hate waiting in lines, we never do that, when you need to buy month pass (but most of people buy that online now) in a metro station and you see line, you just go to other metro station with ticket office and buy that there. When I visited Lisbon, I saw people waiting literally in 50 m long line in front of some ticket window and also lines for ticket machines were pretty long and annoying, when I am in new country, I need more time to explore machine and check what it offers, so line behind you is really annoying. Similar with trains in Poland, crazy lines everywhere, you have to select specific train and seats....super annoying for a tourist, I prefer our Czech style where yoiu just buy flexible ticket from place A to place B and just go, you have ticket in like 5 seconds when you buy paper ticket at train station, it's always shock for me how it works in some other countries where it takes like 5 or even more minutes to buy a stupid train ticket and then they are surpried that people use cars instead. And most of bigger Czech cities have system of passes that you buy month or year pass and then you just travel, no gates, no validating, no beeping with some stupid e-ticket, that is how public transportation should be everywhere, it's the only system which doesn't bother you and you really want to use public transportation. BTW, Czech amusement parks (the same as amusement parks in Austria and maybe even in Germany) are not like those modern disneyland style parks, each attraction is mostly owned by a gypsy and you have to pay for each attraction separate, so you can walk in without some ticket and then you have to pay everywhere, so it's very expensive at the end. I visited modern western style park in Poland recently (in Katowice) and you pay like 35 eur for enterance there and then you can visit what you want which is more convenient and also because of gates and tickets, there are no weirdos in such amusement parks, so I prefer western style parks over our "gypsy amusement parks" or how to call that. I visited Prater in Vienna and I didn't expect it's the same shit as what we have here in Czechia, but it makes sense because we were part of the same cultural space and shared monarchy.

By the way, districts Holešovice and Karlín (around stations Florenc, Vltavská and Nádraží Holešovice) were heavily damaged during terrible floods in 2002 and you can still see some damage from that time, but a lot of places later changed to pretty expensive hipster districts, but in some places (where you walked) you can still see how it looked before this change. These districts were originally full of factories and workers during Austria-Hungary and 1st Republic era, industry was removed later, but you can still see some relicts of the past. But to be honest, I saw much uglier things in Vienna, it's always annoying when someone arrives in Prague, find some damaged place and started saying things like "wow, I am in eastern europe" while it looks even worse in his country. 😀 I don't mean you, I speak generally now.

Yeh I just saw the edited part, thanks for so much detail 😎 I totally agree about the trust system, it saved me so much time and effort & queuing. It felt really freeing to just breeze in and out of the stations so easily, particularly as each day I was going through a lot of them. The tickets are amazing value in Prague too. 😎 Yeh I agree about Lisbon, there can often be huge queues at the airport metro station for tickets if you arrive at a busy time. Having said that, Lisbon has so many interesting stations and it is up there with Prague as one of my favourite European cities 🤩 The amusement park did have a fairly odd vibe to be honest, maybe better at night. I also visited Prater in Vienna on this same trip, I go through it on a U-Bahn video coming in a few weeks. Agree, I prefer the amusement parts where you just pay a set price and then can ride anything all day! 🎢

Oh that’s really useful info about what happened in those districts….I had no idea they’d been flooded. 😮 I stayed in Holešovice & it was cool, definitely those graffiti factory looking buildings could make great apartments. I was sort of surprised there weren’t more people living there as it’s a very central location. I really loved the area around Vltavska too. To be honest, Prague just has so many nice areas 😍 it’s always been one of my favourite cities 😎

Hi Nick and greetings from Prague. Very nice and unusual, one might say unorthodox way of exploring and introducing Prague. I really liked it. I moved to Prague in 1984 and lived here ever since, yet I've never visited some of those peripheral stations. However, you've almost killed me with your pronunciation of Chodov. 🙂 You see, in Czech »ch« is just one letter, not two-e.g. the name Michal, obviously the Czech variant of Michael, consists of five letters only, not six: (M)(I)(CH)(A)(L). In the alphabet it is right after H (good to know when scanning through a Czech dictionary or an index of some Czech book; e.g. W. Churchill won't be under C between A and B, but under Ch between H and I; yes, we are that perverted!). And the correct pronunciation of this letter is like unsound (or voiceless) consonant H, something like this Santa Clause doing his “Ho ho ho“ in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h321mqODZZiNnqM Definitely not like tschodov. If the sound is too difficult for you-for some native English speakers apparently is-, using K would be better, Kodov as in co(rrelation)-dov.

So many factual errors you must be fishing for comments… Well, you got me! * 01:17 and 01:37: In Prague metro, you don't have to press the button on doors unless it is backlit (green). No light = automatic opening, green light = press the button, blinking green light = already pressed. In trams and buses it's the other way around: green light = already pressed, no light = waiting to be pressed (and the driver can decide to open all doors regardless if they've been pressed or not). Think of it as a form of integration - in here we integrate the public transport system and the IQ test. * 03:21: Střížkov is a nightmare to maintain (cleaning all that glass). Otherwise I don't have a problem with it. And it is also a nightmare for tourists staying in the large hotel accross the road from the station, when they are trying to explain to a taxi driver where he should bring them. Try saying Střížkov… * 04:02: Stations Ládví and Kobylisy skipped. Kobylisy is one of the deepest stations, though not the deepest in Prague - that's Náměstí Míru on A line. * 06:07: True, completely opposite direction. * 06:22: Wrong, Ice hockey stadium. You're lucky local fans haven't kicked your ticket. Train station was where you got out from the metro. * 06:46: Yeah, district Praha 7 (around Vltavská station) is considered the hipster part of the city. * 09:15: Exit will be reopened once they finish ongoing repairs of the station. Also, after Florenc, the main train station is skipped. * 10:13: Museum-Pražského Povstání around 3 km, so a fit person can make it in ~30 minutes walking. (Excluding Vyšehrad visit.) Btw: stations I. P. Pavlova and Vyšehrad in this section. * 10:20: Fort, not a castle. Though later you got it right. * 11:58: See, you know it's a fort! * 12:32: They are all dead, they won't mind. * 13:02: Actually it'd be easier to walk to Pražského Povstání from there - not too much further than the replacement bus stop at Vyšehrad. * 13:13: Seven excluding Pražského Povstání. * 13:53: Skipped Pankrác, Budějovická, Kačerov and Roztyly. * 14:00: Roughly 3 km, so it's similar to that Muzeum-Pražského Povstání excluded section. * 15:20: I would say that "Chodovská tvrz" (I'd say "fortified house", not a big fort like Vyšehrad) accross the road and to the left is a cultural center with the adjacent park. * 16:09: Thumbs up! I also like to explore where the actual people live in the city and not just the tourist parts. * 17:54: The highest building from prefabricated concrete panels in the Czechia in the background (81 meters). * 18:04: The metro tunel is a few meters below your feet in this park.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, but I have to say most of these seem like deliberate nitpicking 😅😆 1) Skipping stations is NOT an error 😱 I say in the intro that we’ll be stopping at SOME of the stations & there’s a map shown twice on the screen with the stations that I’ll be stopping at. It’s the same in all of these videos from every city. People watching the video and claiming that’s an error clearly haven’t watched closely enough. You’re gonna hate the Green Line video where I skipped the entire bus section 😝 lol 2) Hlavní Nádraži is going to be featured in a different video coming soon & was therefore deliberately omitted from this one. 3) I’m not a walking encyclopaedia, I’m just exploring and finding things that look cool. The slight difference between castle and fort for example. In the video footage, I’ve never been there before so I’m looking for something I’ve not yet seen. It’s corrected in the audio which is recorded afterwards. I don’t think anyone is gonna lose sleep over whether it’s a castle or a fort anyway…but a lovely place to visit 👍🏼 highly recommend! 4) Pressing the metro train doors…it looks nice on camera and for video transitions 😃 and sometimes you do need to press them or it changes quickly if someone else pressed it…surprised if anyone would care about that. The comment about it being to do with IQ comes across a bit rude, (let’s hope it wasn’t meant that way) but I’d be careful about commenting that kind of thing on people’s KZbin videos in future. 5) The walk between where the replacement bus runs is quite long, otherwise why would there be a bus in the first place? 😄 Prague could just tell it’s citizens “you can just walk cos @Tomas_Stec said it’s not very far” 😋 6) Comments about Strížkov station are completely your own opinion. I’m not sure what that has to do with your list of supposed “errors” 😋🤔 it reminds me a bit of the science & art building in Valencia, Spain. But overall, thanks for putting so much effort into your comment….including the time stamps 🤓 bringing the receipts! 😂I like the parts where you’ve added extra details that people wouldn’t be aware of. Seems like we can agree on a few things…such as loving Prague, metro systems and exploring random areas of cities 😎

What a lovely video! It is always interesting seeing some foreigners travelling around my well-known places. I hope you are (or at least were) enjoying your visit to Prague! And please, don't mind those complaining comments about some details, which weren't perfectly correct. Unfortunately, it is typical for Czechs to always correct someone, maybe because our education system is still hugely based on factual accuracy (more than logical thinking), so people are used to do that even when when they don't want to be mean.

Yeh I was rather surprised how picky/blunt some of the comments were on this one 😂 but I will say Czechs are great at interacting with the videos from Prague, so that really helps the channel & everyone in the city was friendly when I visited. I actually worked in South Korea for 5 years and the education system sounds similar to what you mentioned…be correct at all costs ☠️ lol it’s quite stressful for the students and hampers their creativity.

lol well obviously hosts some religious services but it’s actually a community centre 😝 it’s name is Komunitní centrum Matky Terezy/Mother Teresa Community Centre….apparently contains a church, cafe, multifunctional hall, classrooms etc.

There are several of them around Prague since there are plenty of people, they can serve mass and also have community activities for children, single mothers, homeless or disabled. I have one next to my neighbourhood by Salesian monks. Regular churches with just a priest don't have space, time and mainly personnel to do all of these activities :) great. I didnt even know it is there
